Rank The James Bond Actors

Sean seemed to have the best combination of charisma, machismo, and suavness. Moore, Brosnan, and Lazenby had these, but Sean mixed them the best way. I also feel the best portrayals of Bond on the screen were GF and TB, followed, by FYEO, TMWTGG, TSWLM, TLD, OHMSS, and TWINE.
2. Roger Moore-- Roger does differ from the literary Bond in films like LALD, MR, and AVTAK, but that doesn't matter to me that much because every actor seemed to deviate from the literary Bond in some way. Roger portrayed perfectly a sly, debonair, reserved but emotional when needed character that carried an air of superiority around him.
3. Pierce Brosnan-- In my mind, he looks like Bond the most. He performs pretty well also- he has the charisma and humor of Moore, and sometimes could be as harsh as Connery.
4. George Lazenby-- He plays the role perfectly. He is humorous and plays a range of emotions. The only reason he can't be a great Bond is that he only did one and is unfamiliar.
5. Timothy Dalton-- I like Tim a lot. A lot of friends make fun of him as being wooden, and not funny. I respect him as a more serious Bond than the others, which I like. I just like the other qualities more.

But if you must insist on ranking, here it goes:
1. Sean Connery
2. Pierce Brosnan
(very small gap, almost microscopic between Pierce and Tim)
3. Timothy Dalton* (I can only imagine a third and fourth film!

4. George Lazenby (great 007, left before his time

5. Roger Moore (got to love Roger!!

* I got to say that I enjoy Timothy Dalton more as an actor in other proyects other than Bond, than Brosnan. I own lots of Timothy Dalton films in VHS and DVD.
Regards.

Pierce Brosnan, top choice for the 90's, altought the movies are not so good
Roger Moore, because he was a fellow for 12 years, but not the best
Timothy Dalton, he had the look, but two movies are not enough
George Lazenby, one movie, probably the best one, it's not enough too

then there is an IMMENSE gap...
2. Pierce Brosnan
3. Timothy Dalton
4. George Lazenby
5. Roger Moore

1. Roger Moore (because "The Spy who loved me" was my first Bond)
2. Pierce Brosnan (because he reignited my love for Bond films)
3. Sean Connery (because he was the first one and was just the right guy for the job)
4. Timothy Dalton (because he brought back the excitement with "The Living Daylights")
5. George Lazenby (still a so-so Bond for me, although I did not think his acting was too bad for OHMSS)
My rational choice:
1. Sean Connery (once again, because he defined the screen Bond)
2. Pierce Brosnan (because he re-established the screen Bond)
3. Roger Moore / Timothy Dalton (because they were great but not in every Bond film they made)
4. George Lazenby (because he did not have the chance to grow)

1 Dalton - 100% success rate
2 Lazenby - 100% success rate
3 Connery - 60% succes rate
4 Brosnan - 50% success rate: 4 decent first halves - four crap seconds
5 Moore - 15% (The Spy Who Loved Me)

Interesting - could you explain that a little more?

"3 Connery - 60% succes rate"
Interesting - could you explain that a little more?
Sure: 7 films - only four attempts to give a worthwhile or switched on performance as Bond that ultimately meant we got a disinterested, overweight middle-aged guy who didn't resemble Fleming's Bond in the slightest.

2. Moore. No other actor could achieve what he achieved. Was just perfect for the role. He is in No 2, just because Connery was even better than perfect.
3. Lazenby. They say he couldn't act, but that is not true. Anyway, he didn't need to. He was Bond, he didn't have to play Bond.
4. Brosnan. He looks like Bond, but he isn't. You can always see that he is posing as Bond, as soon as he realises there are cameras nearby. Potentially he was a good choice. Unfortunately, his films so far are very bad, so, it will have to be CR (if he is in it, and is a good film), to prove that he was a good choice.
5. Dalton. The best actor of the 5, yet Bond is not a part you can play. He looked rather embarassed in some situations. In fact, he looked a lot cooler in non-Bond films, or even at press conferences for Bond films. Yet, he did bring changes, he did bring class. Bond has been a far more respectable character due to Dalton, and that is why he will always be loved by the fans. In 20 years time, he will be much prefered than Brosnan; his whole attitude will be even more appreciated. Anyway, LTK is the last really good Bond film.

Let's see here.
Dalton: 100%
Lazenby: 100%
Moore: 85%
Connery: 83%
Brosnan: 50%
Changes my lineup a bit...

2. Connery
3. Lazenby
4. Moore
5. Brosnan
I liked them all but Dalton does it for me. He was the better of the five in my opinion. Brosnan did a good job but it seems that his bond was a little too sensitive.

Ofcourse it's unfair when Lazenby was in 1 movie with 100% while Moore did 7 films.
Sure - that's what's crucial about Lazenby going out after one, at the top, having given a spot-on interpretation of Bond in a true Fleming movie. He might have screwed it up if he'd stayed on and got complacent. Then again, Connery would have got 100% if he'd gone after Thunderball.

Connery is my "objective" choice - the man who defined Bond for the screen, still the coolest and most iconic Bond.
Dalton is my "personal" choice - because his performance in TLD blew away the cobwebs of the later Moore films, it seemed a completely new way to play the role, intense, romantic, believable.
2. Moore
He staid too long in the role but at his height he owned the part, re-working Bond in his own lighter, self deprectaing image, the perfect centre for OTT epics like TSWLM and MR, self aware but falling short of sending the whhole thing up. A very fine line to tread, he did it to perfection. Plus he can play tough, at least he could in LALD and TMWTGG.
3. Brosnan/Lazenby
How can I rank Lazenby as high as Brosnan? Just because he was in OHMSS perhpas the best film of the lot. I love that film so much I don't notice his wooden acting (if such it is). Brosnan is good but he doesn't have IT, whatever IT is. I think he was best in GE, but for me he will alwys be low calorie Dalton.
