I'd like to see them continue to go in the direction they've been going with the last two films, including not putting the gun barrel at the beginning of the film and having the Moneypenny and Q characters be absent from the films. I like the way that the last two films have just jumped right into the action rather than spending time telling us that we're watching a Bond film by tacking the rather cliche gun barrel sequence at the beginning of the film. I also don't see much, if any, room for Q in these new films, and I honestly haven't missed Moneypenny at all during the last two films, and would like to see the films remain uncluttered by the increasingly groan-worthy dialogue that has been exchanged between Bond and Moneypenny in the majority of her recent appearances in the franchise.

THE GUNBARREL AT THE BEGINNING, decent main titles and a good director is good enough for me B)

That's something to start with. A thing Qautnum of Solace lacked (altrough I thought the main titles were done pretty well).

What I also hope is that we're going to see some more humour from Bond in it this time. Not making it over the top like in DAD sometimes was the case, but just a bit more like in the Roger Moore days.

Oh yes, and don't forget Miss Moneypenny and Q. I really hope these characters can return to the series.

Bring back the gunbarrel opening, certainly. Substitute "a bit more like in the Roger Moore days" for " a bit more like in the Sean Connery days", and I would agree. That black, graveyard humour would work with Craig's Bond, whereas the jokey, visual juvenile stuff from the Moore era would not - I exclude the one liners here, because Moore was a past master of them.

Moneypenny and Q? I'm not sure. A Moneypenny unimpressed by Bond would work, as would a no nonsense Q. But a return to Moneypenny pining over 007, and Q as a grumpy old uncle figure? Not with this Bond.

I don't care if they use the gunbarrel or not, but its use at the end of QOS was one of the few truly annoying things in the film for me. If it was being used as a "he has become Bond" moment (and my understanding was that it was not) than it was a cringingly crass and simplistic use of symbolism, if it was just meant as a fun gimmick than it rather soiled the wonderful, somewhat poigniant ending of the film for me. So if they have to fit it in there (I sincerely don't really care either way), it should be at the beginning. Although the idea of it having to fit into the middle is intriguing...

The gunbarrel at the beginning, yes. I like my gunbarrels there; they are like a doorway into the elegant, extravagant, dangerous and sexy world of Bond. Playing with the position of the gunbarrel is getting old already.

What I'd like to see:

  • No Gunbarrel
  • The return of Stana Katic as Corinne
  • Canada and/or Australia as locations
  • Less focus on action and more on story
  • Bond remaining a serious character rather than drifting back towards the style of the Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan Eras
  • An older villain, rather than having another villain that is roughly the same age as Bond

Apart from the no gunbarrel crap, I agree with those suggestions completely.

I also agree, particularly concerning Canada as a location. Apart from the great scenery, cities such as Toronto or Calgary could double for US city locations if necessary.

I just want to see Bond 23. The lack of updates is making me sad.

Other than that, a strategic mix of the old and new would be good:
1) the new direction of the films is good
2) gunbarrel at the beginning
3) no Q and no MP - haven't missed them, wasted scenes with Craig's Bond
4) more humor, but not Moore or Broznan humor
5) "Bond, James Bond" needs to be there
6) the theme needs to be there
7) A "slow" title song - Fiona Apple. I'm just gonna keep saying it until they hear me

Something I think would be cool, but will likely never happen: What about Christopher Walken returning to the series as perhaps the head of Quantum. If done right I think that could be very cool.

Many of us had though. Surely we can meet a happy medium?

If they brought Christopher Walken back, well, it wouldn't be the first time an actor has returned to Bond as another character. Charles Gray, Maud Adams, Joe Don Baker, to name three.

I agree with you about the Bond 23 delays.

I've got it! How about Q meeting Bond in the field somewhere like in TLD. That could work. I think the problem is, in this 3-4G smart phone world, there's not much that Q can show Bond that's novel. It would all be pretty standard issue.

Agreed on this point. I haven't missed either character in the last two films, and honestly hope that both characters do not return to the franchise.

Things id like to seee in Bond 23

Bond in a golfing scene
Bond actually using his brain and doing some spying, and using his wits
Bond using a gadget in a different way other than the purpose it was defined for
Danny Kleinman to do the titles
Gunbarrel reshot again cause DC looks a bit hurried on the quantum ending one
Dave arnold to stay, but more Monty Norman bond theme, employed in a different aspect
Decent editing Not like QOS
Long shots so that scenery of the surrounding can be taken in
Locations :Ireland,Canada, Finland
A decent espionage story

ARE YOU LISTENING EON ???????????????

While I do want to see the gunbarrel at the beginning of the film, I could care less about Moneypenny and Q. I never cared for Caroline Bliss or Samantha Bond as MP. Once Lois Maxwell was gone, I feel there was no need for MP. Same with Q.

I'd be glad to see Q and Moneypenny return, and be represented the way they were in FRWL.

Also for those who are worried that Craig's Bond wouldn't flirt/share banter with Moneypenny, then look no further than his early dialogue with both Vesper and Fields for the kind of approach they could take now.

Haven't posted here in a while but thought I'd stop by.

Anyway, B23 needs a heavy dose of misogyny, drinking, smoking, fine dining, and any other outpouring of Bondian snobbery I can't think of. Less Spiderman-esque stunts would be nice too. James Bond shouldn't need an explosion every two minutes to be a cool son of a b*tch.
