TMWTGG yesterday. Nice, but under TSWLM for me.

Watched On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Brilliant as always.

The Mürren carnival sequence with Bond on the run and basically giving up always sticks out for me. Tracy skating up to him is one of the best moments in the series. "Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown?" is timed perfectly. Upon her reveal, we hear "and most of all they need love". Pure class.

The Spy Who Loved Me. Two hours of sheer delightful escapism. Nobody does it better indeed.

I watched Live and Let Die on Sunday; in HD
It was painfull; and I used to think it was Roger's best outing.

It was my favourite as a kid. Now, I think it's possibly his worst Bond movie, along with AVTAK.

I assume those who always praise it highly, are in a similar position to you. I don't think any of us should judge any of the Bond films unless we've watched them in the last 2 years because opinions always change.

Oh geez, the last one I probably saw was "Quantum of Solace", and that was in theaters!

I saw "Mad Mission 3: Our Man From Bond Street" a couple days ago, does that count? :-P

Sunday tea time I watched TMWTGG on ITV1. Not the best Bond film ever made imo, but it does feature one of the best villains in Christopher Lee's Scaramanga.

By the way, have UK viewers noticed that ITV1 showed LALD on Sunday 8th August from 3.50 pm to 06.00 pm, and then again on Saturday 14th August from 1.40 pm? I think they are going to do the same with TMWTGG this coming weekend. I know they have shown Bond on other ITV channels besides ITV1, but I can't recall the channel ever showing the same Bond film twice in one week. Perhaps they've heard that, with the MGM farce, we Bond fans are feeling deprived! :)

Was having a nosy at next Saturday's listings in the television mag in my newspaper and according to it The Spy Who Loved Me, which I'm currently watching sprawled out on the sofa (ahh, bliss), is being re-run next Saturday at 1pm as well.

I watched The Spy Who Loved Me last night, and for the first time in my life, I didn't really enjoy it that much. It's used to be my favorite as a kid, and now I don't really like it as much as I used to. Everything is there, the exotic locations, the humour, the gorgeous women, the larger than life villains, the gadgets. But, I dunno. The pacing is all over the place and it doesn't really do it any justice. Such a shame really. I hope I grow to love this one again.

Watched a bit of Moonraker and enjoyed it as always, tremendously entertaining, stunning film.
Sometimes just for the sheer silliness of it. You start asking yourselves ridiculous quesions
Why didn't Corrine get back in the buggy after she feared she would be chased by Dogs ?
How could Jaws survive a 2000ft drop into a tent/Falling down the Iguaçu Falls/Crashing a cable car into a concrete building/breaking up from an exploding space station in a breakaway part of the station ?
Then I decide to just go with it. :D
I also enjoy the Drax conversation with "Rent-A-Henchmen" when discussing a replacement for Chang. And the fact Jaws must be working "Freelance" when he is in the PTS and has a grudge against Bond from "Spy"

Didn't care for it.

Now in hindsight Tom Jones song was preferable to what was in the Craig movie.

The new roommate had yet to make a trek through the Bond movie universe, so we started with Dr. No.

Interesting that he's only seen the modern Brosnan and Craig movies. I don't think he was terribly impressed with Dr. No. Hopefully he'll let me show him FRWL soon.

Die Another Day. The first half is great, and it pioneered the way for the Craig era. I rank that half alone as some of the best Bond you’re likely to see. And I find it to be Brosnan’s best Bond performance bar none.

I’ve grown to really like the song, and the title sequence fits with it perfectly. Probably the best combination in the series, and the imagery propelling the story is a nice touch as well.

The last half of the film isn’t up to the same standard, but it sent Brosnan off in a fun way, IMO. Hell, QoS uses the two fight finale as well. It’s not as bad as people claim. I cannot hate it, largely due to the nostalgic experience I’ve had with it.

I enjoyed watching Goldfinger last night. I enjoy watching Connery at his absolute peak in his portrayal of Bond in this film.

Thunderball -- I don't rank it very high overall, but it encapsulates '60's Bond Mania better than any other Connery film. In New York City, people actually paid to stand in the cinema to watch it. I just wish it had a better director. Terence Young was well suited for the first two pictures, which were more modestly budgeted, but this film, it seems, overwhelmed him with its sheer scope. It doesn't hang together very well. But as a pop culture artifact, it can't be beat.
