It has been announced that, with the entry of Blu-ray manufacturers from China, that a $99 Blu-ray player will soon become a reality:

Can anyone inform me on the quality of The Man with the Golden Gun and Licence to Kill? I haven't heard much from anyone regarding that.
When are they released in the UK? Any ideas?
And, yes, YOLT and OHMSS should look terrific on Blu Ray. I watched FYEO on Blu Ray yesterday and while it doesn't blow your mind in terms of picture quality like Moonraker, it still looks pretty damned good. Even if Melina's moustache makes it look as though she's auditioning for the Village People...
Encouraging news on the Blu-ray front.

Interesting stuff. Shame the discs aren't a bit cheaper in the UK - but I guess they will be, unless Gordon Brown screws us into the ground before the year's out.

Oddly, there's been no indication of a UK release for these two so far.

Shame really, as I consider LTK to be a real gem, an epic Bond film.

I'm quite surprised as well, I know as Brits are usually behind, but not this far.

Aparrently the quality is supposed to look stunning. Someone one another forum said that he ranks it as one of the best looking 'old Bond films' on Blu Ray.

The box sets so far have been:
TWINE, Goldfinger, Moonraker
For Your Eyes Only, From Russia With Love, Thunderball
Die Another Day, Live and Let Die, Dr. No
Quantum of Solace, Licence to Kill, The Man With The Golden Gun
Things I've noticed in these sets are:
- Each set has one "ringer". Goldfinger, From Russia With Love, Dr. No and Quantum of Solace. These are the "must-buy" movies that make each set more appealing to both hardcore and casual fans alike. Of course, it's a matter of personal taste and one could certainly argue for different movies being ringers or there being more than one ringer in one of the box sets, but I think generally speaking these four are the most popular and recognizable today.
- In three of the box sets, each movie stars a different Bond. The exception is the FYEO, FRWL, TB set which has two Connery movies. Assuming it's not just a random set, I think the reason for this may be to either ramp up public interest by releasing more Connery movies sooner or simply because Connery has done 6 movies and it was just a choice to package 2 together so that the other 4 could be released individually in box sets.
- Playing off of the above, Roger Moore has done 7 movies, 3 of which have not been released. These 3 could fit nicely into the last 3 boxsets, but Connery's movies could have done the same thing. Therefore, I think it's possible that two of Moore's movies may get packaged together in the future.
- There doesn't seem to be a pattern of quality aside from the ringers. Older movies have been favored so far, mainly because most of Connery's have been released.
- Never have movies that have come out back-to-back been released together. The closest they have come to that is From Russia With Love and Thunderball, which have only one movie separating them.
So, the movies yet to be released are:
- You Only Live Twice
- On Her Majesty's Secret Service
- Diamonds Are Forever
- The Spy Who Loved Me
- Octopussy
- A View To A Kill
- The Living Daylights
- Goldeneye
- Tomorrow Never Dies
The possible "ringers" I see are The Spy Who Loved Me and Goldeneye. I don't see any of the other movies being as iconic to the general public, but perhaps You Only Live Twice will be the third ringer, as it's a Connery movie with a generally higher rating than Diamonds are Forever. Or perhaps it will be OHMSS, since it's Lazenby's only movie.
So from that I'm concluding:
- Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies will not be packaged together. Neither will Octopussy and A View To A Kill or OHMSS with You Only Live Twice or Diamonds Are Forever.
- Goldeneye and The Spy Who Loved Me will not be packaged together (two ringers).
My guess for the boxsets are:
GE, DAF, AVTAK
OHMSS, TND, OP
TLD, YOLT, TSWLM
Anyway, may I be horribly wrong so I stop over-analyzing everything! I just have to insist that there IS rhyme and reason to these sets. And really, I LOVE all of these nine (well, maybe not DAF and TND, those are just in the "ok" category for me) so it doesn't really matter when it comes to how the box sets are arranged, just that they come out soon!

SWLM as a "ringing" problem on all the movie (ringing halo over all the characters, noticeable when they wear a dark suit on clear background like sky)
GE is zoomed in, making about 30% of the original image data being lost
I'm guessing these will be in the last batch of releases, due to the extensive work needing to be done.

Nice list!
My wishlist...
Boxset 1: The Man with the Golden Gun, Licence to Kill (UK)
A two-film box set?
I'm baffled as to why there's been no announcement of a Vol 2 box set for us Brits. Vol 1 was released a few months ago, and since then three more Bonds have been released on Blu-ray over here, plus QUANTUM OF SOLACE, yet the silence on a second UK box set is---- well, I'm being deafened by it.

Is there any news on if there will be steelbook versions of these 2 films released on May 12?
It will be interesting to see if the Best Buy box set is released in other stores after May 12.

The Blu-ray forums have nothing on more steelbooks. There is a rumour that they will possibly release them in the next wave so they can do a double dip. Hopefully, they will finish what they started & announce something soon on their fate.I can't remember where I read it, but I'm sure I heard they were stopping the steel books.

Very strange.
I wonder if they will do sales for the 2 titles after this week.
I know Amazon is currently shipping LTK and Golden Gun blu rays, but the price was $22 each..
Does anyone know why these 2 releases are so low key? I'm pretty confused why they are not at least on ad this week too.
Very odd.

I'm tempted to import Licence To Kill, but I think I am going to hold out a bit longer.
I would be careful. The US version of all the Bond movies are region locked and not playable on standard UK players

A good note of caution. I wish we had some news of the UK release, though.

Have they announced yet when the fourth matching boxset will be released? It is weird to me that on May 12 they release LTK and TMWTGG, but not a corresponding boxset, be it with QOS or another film.
I just hope they haven't discontinued the boxsets!
(I also wonder what they are going to do about the fact that there are 22 official movies. That doesn't divide into 3's. Are they going to exclude QOS? Or may include NSNA and the 1967 CR to make it 24?)

Oddly, no boxed set for this film either. Although Best Buy did/does have their own exclusive boxed set of The Man with the Golden Gun/Licence to Kill/Quantum of Solace.
At least one thing is consistent: the release of James Bond films on home video format remains mindlessly inept and confusing.

Versions compatible with UK players are available though. Amazon.fr has a boxset containing Quantum Of Solace, Permis de tuer and L'Homme au pistolet d'or for 54 euros
