I'm compulsively checking my Amazon pre-order. Hoping it will ship early so I will get it on the 24th. At the moment, it shows a March 26 delivery estimate.
You should cancel the Amazon order and get the box set with LTK and TMWTGG at Best Buy. They have a special, buy 2 Bond Box sets ($59.95 each) and get $25.00 off. THat is $95.90 for both sets ($15.81 a movie).
Sorry if this has already been posted, I did not go through the whole thread.

The problem is that if you want the Steelbook editions, Amazon is the only place to get them this time around. Although, if you plan on getting the Best Buy exclusive set, you're stuck with not having Steelbook versions of Licence to Kill & The Man with the Golden Gun. That is, assuming they are even going to be sold in May. There are just way too many packaging options for these things.I'm compulsively checking my Amazon pre-order. But I like having the individual boxes. Also, I took advance of the Amazon Bond bundle sale (saved $20) and I also used gift certificates. I'm the same way zencat and my total for the four EON Blu-rays (got the Never Say Never Again BD earlier from the studio) is just a couple cents shy of $25.

That's what I'm doing. I was skeptical at first, two many at once, but that deal is just too good to pass up with all my gift cards and rewards club money off. Unfortunately, I will probably pass on NSNA for now and pick it up when there's a sale in the future.I'm compulsively checking my Amazon pre-order. Well, well, well, who would have thought that Moonraker would be, by far, the glittering jewel of this trio - and Goldfinger the biggest disappointment?
First off, let me just say that TWINE looks excellent on Blu-Ray. It's not a fan favourite, but I like it; in fact, I think it's possibly the most underrated Bond film. That said, there are no surprises in the Blu Ray version. It looked good on DVD and it looks even better on Blu Ray. But the leap in quality isn't as marked as some, possibly because it's a newer film (although I do think there's a bigger leap between the Casino Royale DVD and Blu Ray, subjective though that might be.)So if you don't like TWINE, the Blu Ray isn't going to make you feel any better inclined towards it.
As for Goldfinger, when I say it's a disappointment, I should quickly add that there's still a marked improvement in picture quality. But therein lies the rub. The extensive location work in Dr.No and FRWL means that you get lots of "**** me!" moments while watching those discs. But in Goldfinger the studio work - especially in the pre-credits and the card-cheating sequences - is painfully obvious. I'm quickly learning that Blu Ray can bring out the very best a film has to offer, but it's merciless in exposing weaknesses (like dodgy make-up and obvious sets). So while we've all known that the Goldfinger production team barely set foot in the USA, despite a large chunk of the film being set there, it's never been quite so obvious until now. On the plus side, the golf and Swiss scenes scrub up well, the interior of Goldfinger's jet looks gorgeous (the exterior model shots less so, alas) and Fort Knox glitters like never before. But I have to say that, for me, Goldfinger is the least impressive Blu Ray out of the initial Connery Eon Bonds released thus far.
Which brings me to Moonraker. Ah, dear old Moonraker... for so long one of the whipping boys of the fanboys. It has been getting a bit of a reappraisal recently, but I've no doubt that it will be completely rehabilitated with the Blu Ray. Because, there's no way else to describe it: Moonraker on Blu Ray is just awesome. Visually, it's possibly the best-looking film I've thus seen on Blu Ray and, by inference, the best I've ever seen on the home screen. A few quibbles apart - old Rog's make-up in the pre-credits sequence really does look like it was put on with a trowel; in the boat chase you can clearly see the charges put in the water by the special effects team before they explode; and that rubber python has never before looked quite so rubbery... - the picture is flawless. Ken Adam's sets (Drax's Venice lab in particular) are now so clear and so detailed that one appreciates them for the brilliant designs they are; the detail on the space station is superbly picked-out on the disc. But what really work in Moonraker's favour is that the added fine detail adds a curious sense of reality to the whole thing. The result is that Moonraker doesn't seem quite as daft as it did previously. And that is quite an achievement...

Play.com, bless 'em, got Goldfinger, Moonraker and TWINE to me two days early
Yeah, I love PLAY, so reliable. It normally has some great offers too, I got the first 6 Bond Blu Ray releases on a 3 for 2 offer - it only cost me around £60.

Oh, I so agree - I much prefer Play to Amazon. No postage; new releases usually with you a day or so early. In all the time I've been using them, items have not shown up just twice - theiving postmen, I reckon - and Play have always replaced immeditatly, no questions...

Yeah, I prefer PLAY aswell. The only reason I use Amazon is when I buy some of the classic Doctor Who DVD's, as they are about £5 cheaper.

I'm assuming/hoping the new Dr. Who specials will be released on Blu Ray as they're making a big thing out of them being filmed in HD...

I am keeping my pre-order with Amazon, as I get the 5 BDs for $100. I will buy the BB set tomorrow (packaging-contigent) and then simply sell the extra QoS. This way, right out of the chute--I have NSNA and the 2 May releases.

I'll stop by Best Buy tomorrow and see about getting the exclusive box and Moonraker. I may also pick up Goldfinger, with the save $10 on any 2 Bond films too..
I want the individual cases, so the exclusive set hinges on that for me.

Great news on the Moonraker transfer!!! Can't wait to see that one.
Well, I hope I haven't oversold it... but I was blown away by the quality of Moonraker yesterday afternoon. Particularly having been (very slightly) disappointed with the Goldfinger Blu Ray (but perhaps my expectations were too high!)

Well, no...
I was, of course, referring to the picture quality. That said, I have never enjoyed Moonraker more than I did yesterday afternoon. Blu Ray cannot improve a script (and it sure as hell doesn't make Thunderball any less dreary in my eyes). But it makes these films glitter like never before. I'm interested to see what it does for TMWTGG...

I'm really looking forward to seeing Moonraker out of all three new releases.
How are the space scenes?
D'you know, they really work for me for the first time (only 30 years late...). As I said earlier, it's because the space station just looks bloody good. The detail is incredible. I've always been indifferent to the last 30 minutes of Moonraker; not anymore...

Can't wait to get the blu ray tomorrow!
I guess the Best Buy exclusive box set is individual blu ray cases in a box, so I plan on picking up that set and 2 other of the films.
