So, the line of descent travels thusly:

Dr. No --> You Only Live Twice --> The Spy Who Loved Me --> Tomorrow Never Dies

I reckon Never Say Never Again. I don't hate it, but it just seems half hearted and pointless. After that I suppose Dr No and.....dare I say it......Goldfinger. Just not a huge fan of it.

 OK but one is in Jamiaca and one is in Japan. One has lots of gadgets one does not. One has young Sir Connery, one has old.

Again, you're confusing little things with the big picture.

Diamondfieber is Dr NO 3 then?

Sorry, I just have to say that'd be a great name for a Bond movie.

Moonraker, Dr No 4, Goldeneye Dr No 5? Die Anther Day Dr No 6?

Well, just like YOLT also had elements of Thunderball mixed in, so do those later movies include more than YOLT as influences. Most post-60s Bond movies have so many predecessors that narrowing down where ideas were mined is impossible.

Maybe all Bond filme copy each other.

Give this man an award!

Next you will say Spy Who Loves Me is like You Only Live Twice, no? Which makes it like Dr No! Is silly thing to say, really, no?

It's like a game of telephone. Just because D imitates C which imitates B which imitates A doesn't mean A and D are anything alike. Whatever there was of Dr. No in YOLT was watered down to negligible levels in TSWLM. But for YOLT, I definitely still see it.

Yep and if we narrow it down further only Dr. No, FRWL, and Goldfinger are really the only true original and fresh Bonds, every successive one has taken some form of inspiration from them.

Actually, the bits where Stomberg is at his vastly-windowed dining room on Atlantis are rather reminiscent of Dr. No at his dinner table in front of the aquarium.

I didn't expect to walk in on a war when I saw this thread, so I'll avoid it.

Connery has his ups and downs - sometimes in the same movie, but for overall worst film I have to go with Diamonds Are Forever. There wasn't much I liked once they got to Las Vegas, other than Tiffany Case's dwindling amount of clothing.

Although I did hint at it earlier, I guess I'll state it outright. I think that Connery's worst Bond film is DR. NO. It's so boring. I practically have to struggle to stay awake during the second half.

Hopefully you will grow to like it. I for one, think it is one of the best in the series.

My least favorite Connery Bond film is Dr. No. However, skill-wise, I'd say Never Say Never Again is his worst.

I used to hate DAF and thought it was boring BUT after watching it again last night, I'm almost certain that Connery had more fun making this film more so than any other Bond film and also, DAF is a superb film. Entertaining, witty and just so much fun. I can't for the life of me figure out why I never used to like it.

Never Say Never Again will never be a real Bondmovie for me. Sean Connery's worst Bondfilm is by far Diamonds Are Forever, one of the four Bondmovies that I can't watch like the others, but still as a fan I'm a fan of all the Bondfilms. The things with DAF are, it has to much comedy, Connery looks really tired, not the best choise for Blofeld, weak plot etc.

Also many people say that You Only Live Twice is Connery's worst but I personally prefer YOLT above Thunderball, Dr. No and DAF (and NSNA of course).

YOLT over TB and Dr.No???? Wow!

The comedy in DAF is actually quite funny (apart from blofeld in drag) and is handled much better than anything in the moore and brosnan eras. Also, please explain to me where Connery looks tired. He looks wide awake through out the entire film and he himself is on top form. Even the pts is great with the mouse trap and when connery first meets TC, is Bond at his best and then the scenes with connery posing as peter franks is hilaious. DAF isn't the best film imo but it is still a good Bond film and regardless of how the film turned out, Connery is still on top form through out the entire film.

Yeah I know that, I love Thunderball and Dr. No also , but I think every Bondfan has a Bondfilm he loved, while many people call it one of the weakest.

I don't think he was in top form. Connery was definitely at his best in FRWL, Goldfinger and Thunderball. The PTS is good and there are some good fun moments though. But when I watch OHMSS I exepect a exciting revenge story, like they want to do with Quantum of Solace now, but I know 1971 was a different time. It's a good film in generally, but it will be never a great Bondfilm for me. But that's my opinion. :(

Fair enough. I agree that they messed up with Bond seeking revenge for the death of Tracy but other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed DAF, which is strange because I used to hate it.

Aside from the prolonged fight at the health clinic (which I would love to have inserted into TB), NSNA is a horrendous film - easily Connery's worst.

Of the EON ones, I would plump for YOLT because of all the glaring plot-holes and excess.

I happen to like You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever so it's a little hard for me to say which one I like the least of the two, but I'd have to say YOLT. If I were to go on film quality ect. I would say DAF is the worst. The both of them are kinda silly but in a good way..I guess. And I don't know what to say about NSNA. I don't watch that one often and I don't have it on DVD yet. So basically I have no answer on this topic...

YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE.

I don't care how pretty it looks, this was Connery's most boring movie. DAF made me laugh and it ran at a good pace so it beats YOLT and NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN.

I totally agree. YOLT was the worst Connery Bond movie. The action plays in Japan and that's boring. The story is nothing special.
