Never Say Never Again.

Hands down the worst Bond movie ever made. WHY Connery starred in it when he had Thunderball amazes me.

CBn needs to take a second look at NSNA and take the 1983 part off Connery's thread title. He had a graceful exit with Diamonds are Forever and even tough it wasn't a good film, at least that one has some good moments.

Well said! I couldn't agree with you more!!!

I understand your thinking and would also like to see NSNA written off, but I'd add DAF as well. Still, the problem is: once we get into amnesty for sins we don't admire, where do we draw the line? Bela Lugosi's poor shade would start howling for erasure of Plan X...from his canon. Then Brozza would start howling for DAD's obliteration. And...No, let NSNA stand. If nothing else, it may help keep any future Bond from remaking TB again.

DAF for me. For although YOLT is generally not rated, the first hour keeps me entertained well enough. Sean is slightly fitter and more believable(although he looks pretty bored). DAF is Zzzz land.
If you include NSNA then this would be his weakest film for me, Sean's not bad in it though but of the EON's DAF.

For me it was NSNA- he looked old, out of shape, and bored to tears.

Second choice is DAF- I can never get past that d**n pink tie!!

Ignoring NSNA - I'd go for either DAF or YOLT.

I enjoy DAF until the whole satellite thing/SPECTRE comes in. Then it loses it. The first part has the makings of a good smuggling thriller. Would rather the diamonds were being used to fund something rather than create superweapon.

Similar for YOLT - but it goes off quicker I think. So I'd go for YOLT.

Hmmm.. among my other least favourite films are MR and DAD....perhaps I've just got something against space lasers.

I would have to go with DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (i don't count NSNA which wasn't much better) which i would give 3/5. You really can't fault his first four. YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE has gone down the ranks over the years. It used to be my favourite Bond film when i was a boy but now it's middle of the pack. Connery in the latter and DAF was not taking it seriously at all and that's a shame after four of the highest quality.

No, my friend; I do, as well. Not one of the best, but I hold it above "DAF" and "NSNA," if that tells you anything.

I simply do not rate Never Say,but of all the EON Connery 007's I'd have to say DrNo,I find it really dated,Sir Sean is a little on the wooden side in this one,he is a totally diferent Bond in From Russia,With Love.

I have to say I do love DAF, because I saw it as a little girl and Bambi & Thumper made a huge impression on me. However that said, I'm a big girl now and it is my least fave of the Connery Bonds.

For all the NSNA bashing, I don't mind the movie much, and I found it more Bondian than some of Eon's entries. And it will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first Bond movie I saw and it is the movie which made me a Bond fan. It is the Bond movie which is shown the most on TV here. For quite some time, for my family, James Bond was Sean Connery from NSNA (they'd never heard of Laz, Timmy & Danny, though they'd heard of Rodge and Brozza was the guy from Mrs. Doubtfire). Not only that, I suggested NSNA to 2 other friends and turned them into Bond fans.

Sir Sean didn't exactly shine in Diamonds Are Forever, which is why it's my least favourite. It's main feature are the amusing Wint and Kidd. Never Say Never Again wasn't great, but somehow I prefer Sir Sean in that one.

The man's a legend.

You Only Live Twice is his worst film by far. Connery was clearly bored, the movie moved at a sluggish pace, and the plot stunk. Diamonds Are Forever wasn't great but I can still enjoy it because it's fun. Never Say Never Again is better then both of these films and I don't care what people say, it's still a Bond film.

IMO It's DAF. It's far worse than NSNA (which is better than any of Moore's outings). I maintain that the films that are Fleming driven are better than the one's that are EON driven.

I refuse to accept Never Say Never Again as a Bond film. In my opinion, it puts Bond to shame, and makes Thunderball even worse than it is!!!

I find Diamonds Are Forever a major let-down as afr as Bond films go. It's a real shame, as it follows one of the gems of the series, OHMSS. The ridiculous gags, laughable score, poor acting, overweight Connery, poor script and terrible special effects make this not only Connery's worst film, but the worst film of the series!

I don't mind somebody not liking NSNA, but I will never be able to understand the attitude that some people don't accept it as a Bond film. It may not be a part of the "official series" but it is a Bond film. It's almost like those who wouldn't accept Craig as Bond before they even saw him in action.

It has to be DAF, because it is set in Las Vegas, has Blofeld in drag, and some terrible supporting actors.

Diamonds Are Forever is pretty dreadful, although I reckon the rot set in with You Only Live Twice. While there's much I enjoy in YOLT, it was the first time EON completely and utterly threw out the entire plot of Fleming's book in favour of a campy action film. Peter Hunt tried to pull things back with OHMSS, but YOLT's incorrect positioning in the SPECTRE sequence and the early reveal of Blofeld crippled its follow-up!

DAF is DAFt! It's OTT even by the standards of Roger Moore's films. It's the point where Bond degenerated into pure self-parodic formula: extended Q/M/Moneypenny scenes, endless groan-inducing puns, women swooning in an OTT manner around Bond . . . not to mention the runtime is way overlong!

So I'll say Diamonds Are Forever, while blaming You Only Live Twice!

As for the others: Never Say Never Again is a Roger Moore version of Thunderball that happens to star Sean Connery. Dr No is best remembered for its impact at the time and the iconic imagery and characters, but the potential series is definitely still finding its feet. From Russia With Love through to Thunderball is a wonderful sequence of movies. The older I get, the more I love FRWL!

I've got to agree with everything you say Gabriel.
Especially about NSNA to be a Roger Thunderball.
Yes YOLT laid the seed. DAFFY ran of with it and spawned other silly children.

never say never again.

connery looked dis-intrested and tired.

it was a golden oppurtunity for connery who left the series complaining they have become formula driven to do something different. perhap show bond on his last mission and the human side of bond. have terence young direct it. have a better hair piece but the squandered it.

A silly thread idea, no? Why again so about not liking?

I think the most boring Bond is From Russia with Love but like everybody else Never Say Never Again is the worst Sean Connery 007.

It's not really a Bond film, is it?
Not proper Bond. No Bond theme, no M, no Moneypenny, no Q.

These are the Connery films I like (in order with favorite coming first):

#1 - Goldfinger
#2 - Dr. No
#3 - From Russia with Love
#4 - You Only Live Twice (yes, I like the film regardless of Connery's lackluster performance).

Connery films I do NOT like (in order of least favorite):

#1 - Never Say Never Again
#2 - Diamonds are Forever
#3 - Thunderball.
