If Lucius does indeed die, I'd love to see Batman have to return to his original gear to in order fight the League and Bane. Of course, it's entirely possible that Lucius is working with the League - after all, he designed a lot of Batman's equipment, which is based on everything the League taught him, and so could be readily used by them; he invented the Tumbler, which appears to have has fallen into the hands of the League; he was able to synthesise an antidote to the fear toxin very quickly, implying that he knew about it in advance; he wasn't surprised to learn that the microwave emitter had been stolen and knew exactly what it could do the moment Bruce brought it up; and he was visibly unsettled when he discovered Bruce had taken control of the R&D department before he even learned that Bruce had developed the cell phone-sonar system. He could, perhaps, be working for them without actually realising it. It wouldn't be the first time the League used an "outside contractor" (read: Jonathan Crane) to further their goals. I wouldn't put it past them to set Lucius up; after all, a popular theory on the internet is that Bane break's Gordon's back. That removes one of Batman's allies. Trying to drive Batman away from Lucius would remove another. And if that's true, then I'm anticipating an attack on Alfred.

I could see Nolan making Fox an unwitting accomplice to the League, but I'd be vehemently opposed to Lucius becoming a knowing accessory to the League's plan.

Also, reports indicate that a major scene involving Catwoman is scheduled for shooting Wednesday. Hopefully we'll have our first set photos of her soon thereafter.

I could see the prologue to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES as taking place during the events of THE DARK KNIGHT.

Well...that was anti-climactic. Nice teaser but I could barely understand what Gordon was saying.

I saw the trailer at Harry Potter last weekend. Anti-climactic pretty much sums it up for me. Exciting to see DK on the big screen at first, but I couldn't understand Gordon at all and all the jump cuts were a bit too jumpy to be comprehensible. I guess they had to put something together without much interesting footage to select from.

Hathaway was on location, but not in a Catwoman costume (I don't expect any shots of Catwoman - if she's in the film - to be released until Nolan is ready for them to be released). Videos appear to show multiple Tumblers and possibly multiple Bat-pods. The Tumblers also appear to be a new model, with a shorter wheelbase and at least one sporting a rocket launcher.

My guess on the Catwoman mask would be that its perhaps one that she wears before she comes up with a "final" Catwoman costume, much like the getup we saw Bruce Wayne in during his infiltration of Lt. Gordon's office in Batman Begins when he was first starting out, before he had acquired his full Batman costume. That's just my guess, though.

it's part of an 'imposter' Batman costume. Reports indicate that a costume company associated with the film has been commissioned to put together over 200 'home made' Batman costumes, so I guess we'll be seeing the return of the imposter Batmen (and Batwomen?) from "TDK". Funny enough, these imposter Batmen also appear in the Frank Miller classic "The Dark Knight Returns"--from which I believe this movie will end up taking much inspiration.

I thought the costume designer spoke up recently, and described the catsuit as more tactical with goggles. We needn't worry about the mask in the photos. I suspect tdalton's assumptions are correct. Or maybe Nolan asked her to walk around with that mask, knowing just how many rumours have been propagated in the last few days by all of the unoffical photos coming out of Pittsburgh. Somebody may be having a laugh!

Apparently there will be a sequence set in a football stadium featuring the fictional home team, the Gotham Rogues. And, in true Pittsburgh fashion, they'll be sporting black and gold jerseys.

Okay, here's my bet as to how all of this will play out:

Talia al Ghul, posing as Miranda Tate, infiltrates Wayne Enterprises. There, she discovers the tech division, including a new model of Tumbler. In order to preserve her cover, she enlists the aid of Selina Kyle, thief extraordinare, to steal a small fleet of Tumblers and batpods from Wayne Enterprises (the Tumblers have camo paint, but the Batpods are jet-black). Talia, Selina and the League of Shadows then use the Tumblers to break Bane out of Blackgate Penitentiary. Batman intervenes, but the escape is ultimately successful. He is largely unaware of Selina's presence until she approaches him with information on Bane and the mole inside his company. She may also have possession of a Batpod from the heist, which she uses to supplement her own robberies.

I have to admit, I'm actually quite surprised the costume doesn't look as 'tactical' as the concept drawing I posted a while ago...but I have to wonder what purpose those goggles serve.

And CT, I could very much see events playing out as you suggested. It's very difficult to tell what side of the law Catwoman is on so far.

Remember, this may only be a tease. As others have pointed out, this may be Kyle before she has fully established herself as Catwoman and adjusted the suit. I hope and suspect that's the case. They must know that the Holy Grail amongst fans is to see Hathaway in full Catwoman glory, and so may be holding off (or perhaps filming just hasn't progressed to the point where she has been required to be fully attired in catsuit).

Given how poorly has handled female characters in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if her characterization is disappointing, to boot. And I'm still quite dubious about the casting.

Which characters, exactly? Rachel Dawes was an original creation, so it's hard to compare her to anything in the established canon (and in the case of Katie Holmes, was let down by bad casting). Ariadne - and indeed, all of the characters in INCEPTION - served a particular function, because it was a heist film. And I can't really remember any of the female characters from INSOMNIA, THE PRESTIGE or MEMENTO, because I haven't seen them for a long while.

But even if all of Nolan's female characters have been poorly-handled in the past, this is his chance to make up for it.

Big spoilers involving what I assume will be one of the major sequences of the film:

The Gotham Rogues are playing the Rapid City Monuments. During the opening kick off, Bane sets off a bomb (Earthquake Machine) that blows up a large chunk of the football field and kills the players. The mercenaries then storm the stadium along with Bane and his bomb (a big object, 5 feet tall, a sphere). Bane takes a microphone off a dead referee and makes a speech, stating: "Gotham drones. Bear witness to your liberation." Then a big silver ball is rolled out, along with a man being held hostage. Three Tumblers also appear on the field. Some witnesses claim that the vehicles were there to show to the crowds, others claim that Bane stole them.

Apparently Bane's voice is very raspy (though some claim that on multiple takes he had something closer to a Hispanic accent - Nolan may be doing his double-up again; Aaron Eckhart did all his Two-Face scenes as Harvey Dent and then as Two-Face and they were alternated to make him all the more unbalanced. He's clearly Harvey Dent when he confronts Maroni, but he's Two-Face in the bar with Wuertz). I'm guessing his facemask is something of a ventilator.

I was very uncertain about this whole "earthquake bomb" business when I first heard about it, but the idea is just silly. Especially after I read one fan report that claimed the device would open massive fissures in the field that all the players would fall into.

However, I've since seen other fan reports and a video of the shoot that have quelled my doubts. The "earthquake bomb" appears to be some kind of short-range anti-infantry weapon that disrupts the local geography without causing damage to the infrastructure (as the stands appear unharmed, but it's hard to judge because there will be digital effects in the scene). It only has a limited range; not even that of a football field. I'd hazard a guess to say that it's like the microwave emitter in BATMAN BEGINS, and is stolen along with the Tumblers during the breakout sequence.

This photo, taken today at Wabash Tunnel in Pittsburgh, shows what appears to be some sort of flying craft, with a similar design aesthetic of the Tumbler. Many are speculating that it could be the "Batwing" of the Nolan films:

Interesting that they have the camera rig out. I don't think they're transporting it - I think they're filming it (if they were just transporting it, the camera would not be set up).
