Rest assured, the full theatrical trailer will be much more exciting than this. Remember, the teaser for "TDK" forbore any actual footage from that film, so we should consider ourselves lucky.

Someone mentioned on another forum that Bane looks as though he has a tarantula on his face. I think that's pretty spot-on and makes his whole visage that much creepier.

I reckon the thing that makes him look creepy is the fact that you can see his eyes. Maybe it's because we're all used to Bane wearing the full-face Mexican-wrestler-meets-gimp-suit mask, but I reckon it's because Hardy doesn't have a threatening look in his eyes. He looks aware - aware of exactly what he is capable of, and with no need to dress it up.

Hey now, these are the most SERIOUS AND MEANINGFUL MOVIES EVER. How dare you suggest there's ANYTHING even slightly silly about a guy dressing up in a rubber bat costume to talk in a campy voice and fight a weirdo in clown makeup. Or a weirdo with an alien facehugger on his gob.

I always find it kind of funny how internet peoples want the series about the aforementioned guy in rubber and clown villain to be all dark and serious and that, but when they put a darker take on the adventures of the alcoholic, misogynist, government-sponsored murderer, its all like hey where's the jokes?

Actually, he looks like something out of ALIEN. Can any comic book fan explain what meaning, if any, the mask has to the Bane character?

In the comics, the mask is based off the design of the typical "luchador" (Mexican wrestler) mask. The mask also serves as a conduit through which venom is introduced into the back of his head. I found this theory on another site as a possible explanation to this re-designed headpiece:

The inclusion of venom makes a certain amount of sense when you think about it. We know that Ra’s al Ghul’s League of Shadows uses psychotropic materials in their rituals and practices, as seen in Batman Begins with the blue flower that Bruce Wayne was tasked to carry to the League of Shadows stronghold, and the hallucinatory vapor that was derived from that flower and used by Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy) for his fear gas. It’s speculated that Bane will be aligned with the League of Shadows in Dark Knight Rises, so venom being another chemical derivative utilized by The League is not really a stretch of imagination to envision. Those “skeleton fingers” tubes on the front of the mask could certainly play a part in this theory – say, if in the movie Bane’s venom was ingested through inhalation, rather than injection like in the comics. In that sense, the skeleton finger tubes would function sort of like inhalers, would provide this mask with specific functional purpose for its macabre design.

I also have read elsewhere that, while still being sexy and seductive, Catwoman's costume is going to be more than just eye candy; it's going to be 'functional' and that she'll be wearing goggles (I'm thinking the costume will probably resemble something along the lines of Black Widow's costume in IRON MAN 2; it certainly could not be a worse costume than what Halle Berry wore).

I'm hoping the costume looks something like this:

It won't. Apparently it will satisfy the fans, but it will first and foremost be a practical design. They point to Halle Berry's costume in CATWOMAN as an example of what Hathawy's costume will not be.

This photo pretty much confirms that Marion Cotillard's Miranda Tate is really a cover name for Talia al Ghul. Look at the outfit--definitely has that Asian/Indian motif synonymous with the League of Shadows. The theory going around the 'Net is that Talia and the LOS find a way to infiltrate Wayne Enterprises' tech department and hijack a bunch of prototype Tumblers (hence the desert camo paint scheme as seen in "Batman Begins") to use against Batman.

Filming of Batman VS. Bane at Blackgate prison riot. I love that it appears "TDKR" will be set during the winter. That was always one of my favorite things about "Batman Returns".

I've got to say that I'm actually starting to get excited about this film, which is something I never thought I'd say after being fairly underwhelmed by The Dark Knight. I'm really excited to see what they do with Bane in a more realistic setting as opposed to the last time he appeared on screen, and I think it'll be great to have Batman actually have a villain that's a match for him physically when the other two (Scarecrow and Joker) did not really fit that bill. I'm still not sure about the outfit they've got Bane in (or the mask), but given that the mask and all that from the comics probably wouldn't fly in a more realistic story, I can't really fault the approach they're going with in terms of the character's appearance too much.

I have to say I'm actually more excited about Bane at this point in time than I was when we started getting set pics of Heath in costume. It might be because the Joker was immediately set up as the "TDK" villain with the final scene of "BB", but Bane seemed like such a left field choice when he was announced, because there's a lot of questions as to how Nolan will actually tackle the character, with regards to his origin and the Venom factor, etc. With the Joker it was pretty self-explanatory how Nolan would approach him in his real-life universe, but Bane is interesting because he's one of the more fantastical Batman villains given how he transmogrifies to inhuman proportions in the comics and comes closest to superhuman territory without actually possessing super powers. Now that's it's pretty much confirmed that

the League of Shadows will once again play a large role in this film, the choice of Bane as one of the primary villains makes total sense.

To think, all this and we still basically know nothing about Catwoman's role in the film.

A letter sent out to business owners and residents in Pittsburgh described the scenes being shot there as taking place at the beginning of the film and will feature a prison break. Assuming that Tate is indeed Talia and has stolen a fleet of Tumblers, I'm guessing that they're breaking Bane out of prison.

The catch in all of this is that it takes place at the beginning of the film. The theft of the Tumblers, plus Talia's deception, are major plot points that would have to be sorted out before the prison break could take place. I'm guessing that Talia hasn't actually infiltrated Wayne Enterprises at all, but rather, has contacted Coleman Reese. After all, Reese discovered Bruce Wayne was Batman, and he specifically used the Tumbler blueprints as proof of his knowledge. In such a set-up, Talia and the League may have gotten in contact with Reese or somehow acquired those blueprints for themselves. Rather than hijacking multiple Tumblers and alerting Bruce Wayne to their presence, it makes more sense for the League to have built their own. They may be based in a monastery in Bhutan, but we've already seen the way they are able to orchestrate massive operations, which would obviously require funding. That would enable them to attack Blackgate Prison without Batman being aware of their intentions until the attack actually happens.

As for how Talia ends up in Wayne Enterprises, I'd say Batman spots her during the riot. Realising that he has a leak somewhere inside his organisation (they are, after all, driving Tumblers), he recurits "Miranda Tate" to the executive board of the company. He intends to use her to find out who gave away his identity; she intends to find a way to inspire Bruce to follow his father's charity, which will actually be a way of secretly funding the League. Both are aware of the other's identity (but not their intentions) and both believe the risk of being caught is worth keeping the other around.

With the recent filming, I can see how an aerial vehicle would come in handy. You know, picking off rogue Tumblers cruising the streets - which have the machine guns strapped onto them. A chance for a nice dogfight scene right there. And if Lucius does die, and old equipment has been tinkered with or flat out stolen, eg. the Tumblers, Bruce will have to rise in that regard. Making/sourcing stuff himself. Bruce does it all, and becomes a fully formed Batman, because he has to. Lucius becomes another of his mentors, ala Ras. Also, with Catwoman taking chase on the bat pod - we could see Catwoman jump off a speeding bat pod, land on her feet (like all good cats), and fight Talia ontop of a moving Tumbler. Lots of potential here.
