just seen the commersials...but it seems like a real silly film.
And XXX was Anya Amasova's codename in TSWLM.
It could be intresting to watch however. Just to compare
with Bond...

xXx2: Director Rob Cohen let slip some potential story ideas to Yahoo Movies whilst promoting the first film in the UK this week: "I have two scripts in development right now, One takes place in South East Asia and involves the Malaka Straits pirates and other things that go on from there. The other takes place in Washington DC, where I think our most colorful character will go up against all the grey men in Washington. And I can see mountain-biking sequences on the Capitol dome, things like that where, in a domestic context opposed to an exotic context, Xander gets to shakeup, well, George Bush and all that he represents". Thanks to 'Andy'.
I have to admit I like the Far East "pirate idea" but this D.C. idea...ugh. Ever see Billy Jack Goes To Washington?
This "series" is already on the rocks. The truth is xXx is it didn't make nearly the money Sony thought it would domestically and it did not perform well overseas at all. This D.C. concept feels to me like budget slashing sequel idea forced on the filmmakers by a studio that doesn't have great confidence in agent xXx outside of the U.S. It wouldn't surprise me at all if xXx2 languished in development.
I say two films max--if even that--and then xXx joins all the other Bond wannabes in the ashcan.

Actually, I hope they do go with the D.C. idea just to show them how moronic they can be. Wow, big rebel Vin take on the suits. Please choose this option so we can get this franchise over with as soon as possible so it can take its rightful place as something our grandchildren can chuckle at 30 years from now.
I don't have a problem with XXX or Vin Diesel per say. Just the talk about how original it was supposed to be and putting the Bond series down while so blatantly ripping it off. Entertainment writers thought they were being so original in declaring Bond dead and XXX being the way of the future. These guys moan and decry the lack of originality and they want to praise this? What's wrong with this picture?

Zencat, even your girl demanded a better script and a new director if she was going to do another, no fool she (well except when it comes to men). But hey at least she much easier to look at that Vin is (even if the men in Tomb Raider were just as bad, ugh)

I saw xXx back when it came out and I just hated it so much that I finally decided to put my review down to let you all know how I feel.
I really respect Ebert and I read his reviews/ watch his show but lately he has been grading REALLY WIERD! Don't be shocked if her gives DAD a bad grade! Though I hope not seeing how he is a big Bond fan.

If no one minds, I'm going to move this thread to the "spoofs" area where the other xXx threads are located. This thread really isn't about DAD.

Thus far I think Ebert has given every Pierce movie a thumbs up. I'd be surpised if he didn't like DAD. If he likes the villian, he likes the film.Originally posted by chronicliar

It's a switch your brain off at the door multiplex action flick. And a passably entertaining one at that. Films have been plagiarising/spoofing Bond for the best part of forty years and will continue to do so. (What's 'Tuxedo' but Jackie Chan's take on 007?)
Actually there's a snowboarding sequence in xXx that would have made a killer pre-titles for a Bond film.

Vin Diesel has presence, the rest of the cast look a little out of place and not up to par. Argenta looks 15 and probably should have been in a high school flick or two before hitting this level (not her fault, the producers')
At the end of the day, it is a Saturday night movie and has never advertised itself as anything else.

''I liked it as action film. But give them 10 years and you'll see what happens. 'Lethal Weapon' were four, 'Die Hard' three. I don't believe XXX will make more than three. John Calley from Sony doesn't like the Broccoli Clan. Maybe that was the reason why he praised his movie that way.''
In the middle of directing the biggest flick of his career (and a Bond flick at that) he takes time out to catch a screening of xXx! Could EON at one point have been worried enough by this film to want Tamahori to check it out? Could it have had any influence on the re-shoots and restructured ending for DAD we've heard about?

It was basically a X-Games version of Bond, although it got really funny during the end with that GTO.
For Bond fans like us, it's probably best to ignore this...
