another round of extensive QOS coverage from Siena
http://www.mediateca...5Maggio2008.pdf

Yep! Even with some pics of the set on p. 10-11!
As far as I've read, nothing really new about the scenes, apart from the fact that the scene doesn't end with Bond coming out of the bottini, since he'll have to cross the crowd.

I'm thinking we're looking at filming for the end of the Pre-titles... i.e. the end of the car chase that begins after Bond leaves with Mr White in the back of the Aston.

I'm thinking that the point at which Bond shoots and kills his final opponent in the marble quarries will lead into the song and titles...and that the body of the film starts off after the Main titles/song with the interrogation of Mr White at the Siena safe house.

I wonder if there is going to be a running joke in the Craig era where the DBS gets roughed up a bit in every movie.

Is it possible to get anticipatory vertigo? Because I think I have it.

Yes. The same was also said back in the Winter of 01/02 until Tamahori and Tattersal messed around with the footage Vic Armstrong's Second Unit came up with in Iceland.

Indeed. I was getting more and more bent out of shape with the uninvolving work in the 2nd unit and the one time they really got some fantastic footage, the whole lot was edited out and it was the turn of the editing room to have suceeded in making an uninvolving chase.

One of life's little ironies. But it was true, the chase on ice could have been a thing of beauty and splendour. So whenever I wish to see it as I think it should have been presented, I have to turn to the Bond on Ice documentary.

I said somewhere else, even though we are getting excited by the locale and brutality, it can all get chuffed in the edit suite.

But to the present day, these guys really know how to wreck an Aston.

I ... wouldn't really call that something to be proud of, though ...

Looking at that image, reminds me that I always thought a film crew was like herding cats. They are just everywhere.

Wonder how the director ever feels he is in control.

thanks a lot, absolutely great stuff... looks like we are finally getting back a TLD style James Bond movie

Ugh, I hate it when people describe the film like that. "Oh, it's TLD-style"; "That picture in the desert reminds me of TSWLM"; etc.

Well, it's NOT. Quantum of Solace is its own film; they're not trying to create a throwback to times gone by, even if they are aiming for some of that visual style. Quantum of Solace is Quantum of Solace.

Just found a new video of the Siena set:

quite blurry, alas, certainly shot with a low grade mobile phone.

After the pseudo-Palio in Piazza del Campo and some scenes in private flats, the filming in Siena is now over, and a private party has concluded it. All the lovers of the Siena city only have to wait for QoS to be released now. It has been a pleasure to try to keep you all updated with the events in Italy!

So I guess this confirms the car chase is really in one piece from the Lake to Siena!

We've known that for a while now ...

So... Did anyone hear about an accident happening at the Sienna Piazza del Campo on May 14th? Well I just got back from a study abroad program, and we stumbled across the set that day, and at the end of the day there were was a guy screaming and being driven off in an ambulance. Positive it wasn't part of the movie...
Anyway, I didn't find anything about it on the internet yet, so I figured I'd ask around on some message boards.

Oh, and here are some photos, couldn't get a good video because people were being yelled at and what not.

I don't know if they've been posted on here already or not, but I saw some behind-the-scenes pics of the quarry scene earlier today.

One of them showed Craig's stunt double rehearsing a shot of Bond driving the Aston Martin, while firing his machine gun out of the window/doorway.

If told you that, you'd know as much as me. :(

It's from a set of about twenty or so pictures. Most of them are behind-the-scenes shots from the Lake Garda section. There are also some of Mitchell and Bond jumping across the rooftops in Siena, along with some street shots from the same sequence (as well as a great shot of Craig with the PPK looking over his shoulder in the cathedral), a shot of the bike jump being filmed, and that gunbarrel shot I mentioned in the other thread.

I would put them on here, but these are actual production stills, and I don't think they've been officially released yet. So, I don't know of it would be alright to post them just yet, as it might get CBn into trouble with Eon and co.

But if one of the mods says it's alright, I'll post them.
