This is a good promotional event for DMC. Pretty unique.

Rich may have some competition if some of those pro bands who have always tried to get a Bond gig send in material. Maybe they could release an album of the best entries.

This is a good promotional event for DMC. Pretty unique.

And a pretty damn good opportunity for any aspiring song writer, musician, etc. This is not a small deal. There is a major publisher and promotional machine behind DMC, and that same machine will be behind you and your song. This will get MAJOR exposure. And you also get paid for this (it doesn't say that in the press release, but it says it on the DMC myspace blog). With a good enough song, I could easily see someone landing a recording contract out of this.

I would say there's several hundred. (myself included). However. How many of us could produce a cracking song that would do Seb Justice?.

My Mother's a Music Teacher and could probably come up with something. But hey, she's 80.

I suppose a looped version of 'It's a Small World' wouldn't suffice?. ROFL

Cheers,

Ian

This seems like a very neat marketing gimmick - I'm sure there will be plenty of submissions (and some of them might actually be half decent).

Hmmm... it is tempting. I may take a stab at an instrumental but if anyone out there records something with vocals and needs some orchestration done, shoot me a private message!

Devil May Care
I like what you've done with your hair.
Was it for a dare?
You're so devil may care.

Devil May Care
You have a really funny stare.
Left eye looks elsewhere.
That's so devil may care.

Devil May Care
You smell like an old frigidaire;
That perfume you wear,
It's so devil may care

Devil May Care
Like a sandwich in Tupperware
Laced with pubic hair,
You're so devil may care

Devil May Care
Frankly you're an utter nightmare
More than I can bear,
But I'm so devil may care

[Lengthy cowbell solo]

[Key change]

Devil May Care
Doesn't rhyme with Harare

Devil May Care
Now you know it's time to prepare
To bid your life fare
Well.

Diana Krall has a GREAT rendetion of Devil May Care. And if you follow the lyrics, they even sort of capture the 007 spirit I think.

It's a great idea. Wonder what percentage of the entries will incorporate unlicensed use of the James Bond Theme.

He's tall and he's dark, but he sets fires a-spark
And causes men to tear up and swear;
Though the angels may not give a damn,
The Devil May Care.

So he goes throughout life, thriving all through the strife
In a way that you cannot compare:
The angels may not give a damn,
But the Devil May Care.

And I know
He's a killer;
He'll soothe any dame like vanilla,
But when the time comes
To do whatever must be done,
He goes off-- and leaves you with scintilla!

But, though he makes a man feel much less than he can,
The competition's still only fair:
The angels may not give a damn,
but the Devil May Care.

Oh, the angels may not give a damn,
but the Devil May Care!
