There are a couple of scenes I can watch over and over.
1. The PTS. Just its such a sharp action packed sequence. I like it also that Bond is tough and physical and you can feel(and hear very loudly) the punches thrown. The loudness of scene I also like(you couldn't dose off in this scene).
2. Where he escapes from Piz Gloria and is just skiing away. Add to that the whole skiing sequence.
3. The car chase and 2nd Skiing scene where they escape from the barn and "He had lots of guts"
4. The final blitz on Piz Gloria with Bond sliding on the ice machine gunning Blofeld's henchmen.

The plot is strong as it is based closely on one of Fleming's very best novels. A human story in the world of violence. In the days of wanting realism, suspense, less gadgets and hard hitting fight scenes, OHMSS delivers on all fronts.
The 'one off' nature of the film has given it something of cult classic status. Addiction to the film is a given.

I disagree. DAD was more of a Hollywood actioner. Tomorrow Never Dies was more of a Hollywood actioner. CR was very much in the spirit of those films.Casino Royale is more of a Hollywood actioner, not really like FRWL or OHMSS.
CR is so visibly different and apart from the rest of the series and the common Hollywood action film. A small-scale precredits teaser followed by two big action sequences followed by a mostly long stretch with just one action scene and a concentration on character and story and a big action scene at the end. I would hardly call that a typical Hollywood actioner.

Well it was made in the style of one, just like its immediate predecessors as well, only they didn't try to hide their identities.

Mentioning the fight in the shack full of bells reminds me. There was a lot of fight sequences in OHMSS - beginning on the beach, at Tracy's hotel room, on entry to Draco's, in Piz gloria before escaping, the bell shack fight(I can think of at least 6 or 7 memorable ones), and they were all good.

And have to agree that despite the length, it never once feels drawn out or boring. Ah the difference pacing makes. A contrasting example would be the lengthy Thunderball, botched and blundered pacing leading to drearyness.

Actually, all the Bond films before it have that style in places, but none do after...Oh, and I will add that I love the quick edit style that OHMSS has throughout. No other Bond film has it.
Really? I thought (in comparison to the films that bookend it, Goldfinger and YOLT) that Thunderball was moderately well-paced, and that -- though the final underwater battle drags a little -- it ranks up there as one of the best of the '60s Bonds, alongside FRWL and OHMSS.A contrasting example would be the lengthy Thunderball, botched and blundered pacing leading to drearyness.

I have to agree, there would have been a few uppercuts in that battle.Yes they did put Lazenby's fighting skills to good use. Shame he didn't continue in more movies, and had his own Red Grant archnemesis to have a big battle with, how utterly epic it could have been...
I have to say I like the Gumbold visit scene, with the only gadget in the film(the safecracker) but it irk's me a little when we see Bond gazing at Playboy. This is Commander Bond after all, not a pimply teen.
It has just the right mix between plot and action. Sort of unique structure. Action packed for the first 20 mins, then plot for the next hour 10min, but the last 50 mins or so(with a few exceptions) is just action packed again.

He can look at those interesting articles at home, not entering a lift from Gumbold's office. But I can't see he would have the time to read any magazines, with Diana Rigg to love and Baddies to beat up

well at my brothers wedding last year i said to him and his wife now you have all the time in the world my brother laughed his head off
Now that you mention it, that would be a good wedding song!
Me and my wife did,we had it as our first dance song! Sort of a John Barry thing going on,she walked down the aisle to the Somewhere In Time theme!
It was also our first dance song at my wedding 10 years ago.
My wife and I did not have it for our first song. (We had "At Time Goes By".)
However, I did have a Bond based bachelors party in which I wore part of a tux. We watched a couple of Bond films, Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever.

Couldn't agree more - my wife and I chose it as our first dance song at our wedding reception in 2003. I suggested it and she loved it. At the time she didn't realise it was from a Bond movie.
As we drove off from the wedding party in a convertable covered in wedding bows, I even had the nerve to say "Now we have all the time in the world"!!
I got away with it - she's still with me!

You sure you didn't see a bald fellow drive past you with a red-haired lady waving a machine gun?As we drove off from the wedding party in a convertable covered in wedding bows, I even had the nerve to say "Now we have all the time in the world"!!
I got away with it - she's still with me!
