Oh wow, he was there. I guess this is absolute confirmation that it will appear in Bond 22 (note the video camera behind him!)

Man, this confirms that directors are just funny puppets, Craig is the guy who actually directed CR and will direct the next one too. Craig pulls the strings.

I mean, where's the bald director ? Please. Craig is the second coming of the christ regarding the Bond series.

He is not in character during Palio of Siena.

He looks from a window overlooking the "Madonna dell'Assunta Palio di Siena" traditional horse race race in Siena, Tuscany, central Italy, Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007.
Horses and their jockeys often tumble during the frenzied race, which pits Siena's 17 neighborhoods against one another and is a major tourist draw for this Tuscan city. Animal rights group have denounced the race as cruel to animals. More than 30 animals have died since 1975. A little as corrida in Spain ... But it is an ancient italian tradition.

But this Palio is part of next Bond 22.

Yes, there's a DV camera behind him, and it looks like there a microphone clipped under his tie. It could very well be that he came with the unit shooting the horse race just to watch -- but it might also be they are grabbing a few shots of the race with "Bond" in frame. Not scenes, just shots, which they may use or not. It's possible. In which case this IS our first look at Daniel Craig in Bond 22.

(Or it could be a documentary crew shooting him.)

Hmmmm yes it could be a behind-the-scenes camera. Its possible Craig was in character as Bond earlier for a quick shot or two, but these photos look distinctly 'after hours', unless EON are going for an ultra-casual Bond look, complete with loose tie and beer bottle

Sweet, can't wait to see this one on the big screen.

Does anyone else thing Dan looks uber cool doing anything these days, very much like Connery in the early films when doing publicity shots (yes I know these aren't actual publicity shots!). That shot of him with the camera just looks quality, almost as good as Sean leaning against the DB5 in that Goldfinger still.

Wow, our first real taste of Bond 22. And I'm just weak in the knees.

This is all exceptionally exciting. It's been a heck of a week. In a mere five days, we've gone from unconfirmed reports that Bond 22 would feature the Palio di Siena, to having direct confirmation of the scenes being shot by having none other than Daniel Craig present as cameras rolled.

And unless Siena is to double for another location, I'd say we have our first confirmed Bond 22 location (reports of Bond hitting the slopes of the Swiss Alps as yet to be locked down).

I read some vague speculation somewhere that Siena would maybe be standing in for Algeria, but I think that we can safely say that won't be the case. When you're using an event like the Palio which is linked so intrinsically with a town such as Siena, you can't use it to replace another location. It is pretty safe to say that in BOND 22, Bond will certainly be in Siena itself!!
