I don't want to voice my opinions about Kevin McClory here, but... Cheers! :) May he be happy where he is, up with the rest of the gods AKA Fleming and Broccoil.

This is shocking since I was just making fun of him in another thread. I almost feel bad.

It's true. Looks like the family announced it here five days ago (odd we didn't hear about it sooner):

http://www.loadza.co...y=Announcements

McCLORY , Kevin Nov. 21, 2006, (peacefully), surrounded by his family, loving father of Bianca, Siobhan, Branwell, Saoirse and Sean, husband of Elizabeth, grandfather of Brendan, Tessa, Harris, Lucas and Tara, step-grandfather of Katie and Jonathan, uncle of Finoula, father-in-law of Rick, Cynthia and Larry; he will be remembered for his love and larger than life presence in the lives of his family and friends. Cremation Service has taken place privately. A celebration of Kevin's life will take place at a later date. As Ned Kelly always said such is life.

I'm really ashamed of all of you. A man is dead, and all you guys can do is gloat about trivial things. Who cares what belongs to who, that's just cold.

RIP Kevin.

I'm with Jimmy on this one, the celebration posts are rather disturbing.

Odd indeed...I guess they just wanted it kept as quiet as possible...

Anyway, can't say I'll miss him but condolences to his family nevertheless.

So am I. I can't believe some of the posts on here. It's pretty sad news, though now he's up in the big mi6, with Cubby Broccoli and Ian Fleming.

Rest in Peace Kevin...

I was pretty shocked reading some of those posts. You would think he was a serial murderer from the comments made in these threads. He's a human being just like you and me.

Yes, absolutely, let's not gloat over the man's death. He was obviously a troubled old man who lived what seemed to be an Ahab-like existence, trying to kill his own leviathan until his dying breath. Whether he had a case or not, he should have sold TB to EON decades ago and gone on with other things.

One wonders, though, how long it will take his family to contact Barbara and Michael in order to sell off their father interests and get some money for the grandkids' college. This has been a singularly sad chapter in the Bond saga. I'm glad it's over, but you can't help but feel for McClory, right or wrong.

I certainly never championed the legal hell he put Fleming and Cubby through. I'm probably one of his most outspoken critics on this board.

However, I cannot be "glad" he's dead (or understand how anyone could; he's not Hitler). I give my condolences to his friends and family.

I knew he wasn't the most popular guy amonst fans, but [censored] guys, he's still a man with a family. I lost a close friend recently, I can't imagine what this must be like for his family, especially with people gloating over his death!

Whoa! That's sad.

I wonder what happens to the film rights. I always wondered what would happen if he died. Do they revert to EON Productions? Do they go to his next of kin? Do they revert to Ian Fleming Publications maybe? Interesting stuff.

RIP Kevin.

I agree that the whole Thunderball affair was pretty sad. Fleming should have credited him originally. Saltzman and Broccolli probably shouldn't have used SPECTRE in FRWL and DN. However if Kevin thought that EON ripped him off he should have mentioned it back the 1960s rather than the 1990s. Also it is sad as it appears that McClory devoted almost 50 years to Thunderball.

Why did he devote some many years to that property I wonder? Was he a Bond fan screwed by Fleming and EON? Or was he just trying to milk the Bond cow as much as possible?

RIP KM.

He contributed to the creation of Thunderball as well as creating never say never again. I have never understood why he is so hated on these boards as many blame him for flemings early death and such. while i do not agree with how he went about everything he has had an impact on the 007 tradition and for that i thank him.

Wow-all 3 original Bond producers gone. With McClory's passing an era comes to an end. Condolences to his family. I wonder if Michael, Barbara, or Harry's kids will attend the funeral?

Even though I found Thunderball to be extremely boring, RIP.

BTW, does this mean SPECTRE and Blofled can now officially be used in future Bond films (maybe even as Mr. White's secret organization?)
