Been a while since I've put on a Bond film... definitely in the mood for one of the best tonight...Casino Royale (the '06 one of course! )

I fail to see how it ever could be.
Myself? Time for LTK I think.

I am trying to decide which Bond movie is suitable for my kids to watch all the way through. They are 8, 5 and 2.
They have watched the best action sequences and car chases from the series, and they've enjoyed the last half hour of FRWL, Moonraker and Octopussy.
I wonder if they could watch TSWLM all the way through? That might be my next choice.

8? Very early for the Bond brand of sadism.
But 5 and... 2?
C´mon, you must be joking. What are they supposed to make of people shooting at each other and things exploding? That´s fun, dada? Wanna do that, too?

Absolutely nothing wrong with watching Bond from a young age!! Especially when supervised.

Um, right.

Um, right.
I don't feel you should question what DaveBonds children should and should not be watching with their own father. If you wouldn't allow your own children to watch Bond from a young age, that's your prerogative - but Dave has the same right to make his own decision regarding his children. Don't make him feel bad about that.
Rant over.

I can make him feel bad about it?
I wish.
Besides, if Dave asks on a message board which Bond film he can show his 2 year old he would have to expect opinions on it. And he surely does not need you to defend his choice.

But as you rightly point out I am entitled to voice my opinions on these boards, and in this instance, I just do not agree with you.
Anyway, From Russia With Love anyone?

In the mood for a double feature of Die Another Day and A View To A Kill tonight...(yes, even the not-so-popular Bonds must get a viewing now and again..it helps to make the top notch ones more enjoyable.. )

A Bond swan song festival? To be followed with Diamonds Are Forever and SPECTRE?

Watched FYEO again last night. At the moment, the more I go back and re-visit the Moore era, the more I am inclined to see his acting as wooden. The films are fine installments, but he's annoying me. I'm sure I'll change my opinion again if I leave his films be for a while.

Maybe what I'm about to say belongs in the unorthodox opinions thread, but I actually find Moore to be perhaps the most versatile of all six Bonds (granted, he had the best opportunity having done the most films). Particularly in FYEO, when he is dissuading Melina from vengeance on the sleigh in Cortina, I think Moore nailed that scene. I honestly can't imagine Connery pulling that off.
Same goes for numerous other scenes throughout Moore's tenure.

Agreed. Connery wouldn't have been able to do that scene without coming across as either a smart arse or sarcastic.
Moore shows his versatility in particular in TSWLM, FYEO and AVTAK ("Killing Tibbett was a mistake") .

And I'd add Octopussy to your list: Bond confronting Orlov on the train, and the scene in the clown suit (despite unwarranted criticism by some fans, Moore nailed it).

I agree with all of these points and would like to add two more: Bond kicking Emilio Locke's car off the cliff (particulary since Moore himself was quite uncomfortable with the scene), and Bond calling Zorin a 'psychopath' in the San Francisco City Hall. To have all these serious scenes after the humor of Moonraker really attests to Moore's skills as an actor, something that we take for granted.
I'd also argue that Moore is better at serious than Craig is at humor even though Craig has everyone beat as serious Bond.

This. 100% this. In SPECTRE in particular, some of Craig's supposedly humorous lines just came off as awkward to me. The worst in my book is with the enzyme shake: "Do me a favor, will you? Throw that down the toilet. Cut out the middleman." I cringe every time I hear that line, and I really begin to question whether Craig can do humor. (I'm not sure why so many on these forums object to "Of course, Mr. White!" That line sounds fine to me. But I digress.)
Also, your comment reaffirms my belief that Moore is the most versatile of the bunch. He may not be the best at each aspect of the role, but he can pull off the totality of the character in a way that none of the others could.

I see Moore's skills mainly in LALD and TMWTGG, after that point I tire of him, and think that for his remaining installments his skills only show in part. But, I do agree that Craig struggles with the humour! He should stick to the more sarcastic and overtly confident point of view, than trying to force laughs.

This is why as of late TMWTGG has become my favorite Roger film. I think his performance is great. Even if he was personally uncomfortable about hitting Ms. Anders and other scenes, well, that's called acting. I don't think Roger was ever as brutal, or nasty, or convincingly deadly as he was in GG.

Skyfall was on itv this evening and i just couldn't find the will power to make my finger press the Netflix button on the remote until SF was finished (we had been intending to watch another ep of the excellent series Stranger Things).
It really struck me how absolutely paramount Deakins is to the quality and success of that movie. I hope they can get him back soon.

I watched a bit of Skyfall last night, but couldn't bring myself to watch the whole thing. IMO, it's my least favourite Craig film.
