Watching Goldfinger and Tomorrow Never Dies tonight.

I'm really enjoying the small details you get with Bluray.  Even if you have seen the film 100+ times, you can still find something you haven't noticed before.

Like Connery's badly covered, naval tattoo in his scenes by the pool in the aforementioned :)

Yep and you gotta love the ole high shorts coming up to his belly button.  Funny how men's pants and shorts have progressed lower and lower since that time.

Watching Die Another Day and The Living Daylights tonight.  I like the first half of Die Another Day, but it always goes down hill fast towards the second half.

Well THAT'S something to watch out for when I finally start my Blu-Ray viewings! Never noticed that before...

Squeezed in my 11th viewing of Skyfall (had to make sure the DVD in the combo pack worked!)  Then CR was on Syfy last week, so that accidentally took over an evening.  Next up is either For Your Eyes Only or Live and Let Die.

For anyone who has seen the bond films on the g4 network. Have you noticed how much they cut out. For example, I'm watching moonraker now and they've cut out half of the helicopter scene where Corrine is showing him the facilities and they've cut out the entire conversation with drax regarding the shuttle theft. If they're going to cut out so much don't even bother showing them.

That's terrible. I would never watch a cut version of any of the the films. I would shut it off so fast.

That's a disgrace to cut scenes.

I've got a feeling it will 'Dr.No' tonight for me, as I really must start my marathon and first ever Blu-Ray views of the films from the Bond50 boxset.

(PS: Ed83, notice you're from Texas - hope you're not affected by that horrid accident this morning with the plant explosion!)

Thanks thecasinoroyale for the concern, but I'm about an hour away in Dallas from the explosions.

You are going to be blown away with the blurays!  I'm excited to hear your thoughts as you progress through the films for the first time in HD.

Pay close attention to Dr No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die, and Moonraker.  I believe they were all scanned in 4k and you can tell a big difference in quality.  The rest of the films look great too.  The audio is so much better too.  Anyways you will never go back to DVD when you see it in HD.

Watching Skyfall tonight.

It's 'From Russia With Love' tonight for me, looking forward to it.

After 'Dr.No' launched my Blu-Ray viewings, the sound and picture quality was amazing. It was so crisp, it was like they remade the film today, looking like it was set in the 60s. And one fo the best Bonds for the use of colour, light and simplicity in the different scenes across Jamaica, it was a treat on the eye.

Plus it's ALWAYS refreshing to see films you've not seen for a while to make you remember why Connery et al were so great.

I vote for LTK. :) Get it out of your system and then start watching the series in order. That's how I do it anyway. The Bond films are like your children, you can't have favoritism.

'From Russia With Love' done.

I really noticed how slow and steady the film goes for the first half - a real spy thriller, before launching into the battles towards the final 3rd act. And Tatiana Romanova is one of the most under-rated Bond girls out there. Such a stunner, and a great part.

Plus it was nice during the belly dancing sequence in the Gypsy camp, we see Sean Connery really laughing at a couple of moments, which I thought was wonderful as it was like the facade of James Bond slipped and he really was enjoing the sequence itself, and actually leant a nice moment of humanity to 007 we never get to see really - him enjoying himself.

And thanks to the crisp imagery of Blu-Ray, I couldn't help notice the amount of cleavage the gypsy girl Vida was flaunting - nearly had my eye out with them! Thank god for Blu-Ray...

26329.gif

Basically, just a cracking Bond spy film.

Next up tomorrow is 'Goldfinger'...

Again, a wonderful transfer - looked sharp, and I really picked up on the quality of the sound this time, from the slaps, punches, explosions and fights.

Next up is 'Thunderball'...

Watched FYEO and LTK. FYEO was decent. I gave it a second as the first time I watched I thought eh. On a second viewing it is decent. LTK is incredible. Easily one of the best!!!!! Hmm now I think when I have time to watch one again it will have to be OHMSS or a Connery of sorts. :)

Hey all, new to the forums. I recently bought the Bond 50 collection. The first film I watched was Dr. No and I was blown away by how much better it looked. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

Anyways I'm wanting to watch Diamonds Are Forever right now but I've got a paper to finish up :(

Ahh! Welcome both to the forums ViperSRT87 and Lukas!

Hope you feel at ease here, and while it is a LITTLE quiet after the come down from 'Skyfall', there's still loads of debate going on all over the board with the films in general, the new Bond book out this year, video games and general chit-chat!

Any problems or questions - just shout!

Now grab a medium dry and get stuck in!

:D

'Thundeball' for me tonight continuing my Bond50 Blu-rays.

Have to admit, it's the Connery film I least enjoy with all that dreary underwater sequences and music BUT hopefully Blu-ray will help me re-discover something good about it.

It's enjoyable as Bond of course but I'll always choose this one last out of the Connery era.

'Thunderball' done...

Still my least favourite Connery film, and one of the series actually. The moments on land are great, good espionage and character development, but the underwater sequences still bore me, even in HD.

And the finale is quite boring - that overly dramatic, sped-up mess between Bond and Largo should have been thought out better. Still, we all have our little opinions!

But I did notice for the first time the old tattoos on Connery's arms. Looks like a big old bruise with what EON did to try cover them up! :D
