I took a screenshot from the trailer of the new 007's gunbarrel.

http://i16.photobuck...CRgunbarrel.jpg

Personally I think it's really good, great stance, love the fact he is wearing a dark suit with no tie instead of a tux (which I think looks a bit camp in the gunbarrel). It is a little duller and darker looking than the last 4, but still with the same style of digital shimmer, which was exactly what I wanted.

It's like a more old school gunbarrel with a contemporary edge.
Bond looks like he's actually going for it as opposed to some previous gunbarrel shots which looked rather lacklustre. There's a more Bob Simmons style urgency about it.

Comparisons can be made from here too:

I wonder how they'll do it in the next few films..... they're gonna have to re-shoot it.... if he walks across like the rest....

Yea probably. Not really much difficulty re-shooting the gunbarrel though.

I like it. It gives context the gun barrel. very cool...it's not meant to be "suave". The next will be conventional I have no doubt. Makes '22 more exciting to know we'll have Q,MP and the standard Gun barrel back.

Of all the gunbarrels, I have to say that's my favorite stance.

His posture is good. Straight back, yet he conveys a cool, focused determination n dispatching the would-be assassin. Brosnan's stance was upright, but always seemed awkward.

Important thing is he looks like he really needed to shoot someone in a big hurry. It think it works.

You know, it's still not too late for the producers to shoot a "standard" gunbarrel and put it at the start of the film. Will it really matter either way?

Would be a shame if they did.

At the moment everybody seems to be assuming that this is the gunbarrel that will be used in the film. Looking at past trailers it is obvious that this may not be the case.

Those who have the script say that it's in the script so I'd say this is what we have.

And I have no problem with it .

I agree. I love the way they've done this. Almost as if, from now on when we see the gunbarrel (in future films), it has an explanation. It's no longer an abstract motif but it actually has an origin.

This is the gunbarrel which is in the script. I doubt they will scrap it and re-shoot a normal one at the very start as it looks awesome and plenty of fans like it.

I actually like the way they're doing it, by having it segue into the main titles. But honestly, why would it be a shame if they did it? I can imagine that come November 23rd, we'll have many new posters here complaining about the lack of a "proper" gunbarrel in the film.

I'm just playing devils advocate here

Maybe he's shooting Maurice Binder. Jk. RIP, sir. I like it and I think it will all work and I have no doubt that in Bond 22 we will see it at the begining. Really exciting time for all Bond fans. Make yourself a Martini.

I love the pose, and the little bit of coattail sticking out behind him. Very powerful and dangerous-looking.

I hope it's after the sony/mgm logos... I would hardly accept that the producers would decide to change the formula.

You should probably accept it because it's what we're getting :D.

Also, what's the fun in film making if it's the same old  over and over again?

I don't dislike the new gun barrel (I do hope they go back to the more traditional approach for Bond 22 and beyond) but I always kind of liked it as an abstract motif actually. An origin never seemed really necessary to me, I mean, the blood going through the barrel of the gun...how's that work? haha Just seems to work better in the abstract.

That said, the new gun barrel is the first one that actually made me feel like I just got shot since Lazenby.

I remember posting awhile back about how if it's a proper reboot, would that mean that there would be no gunbarrel to open the movie.

I guess the answer is yes, and no.

Personally though, I don't like it.

Doubtful - it would make the symbolism of the gunbarrel being after he kills his would-be assassin and earns his 00 status completely ineffective.

I like the gunbarrel itself, but honestly I don't care much for his stance. It's a little too Brosnan, he's at more of an angle but either way they're just standing straight up and pointing at the gunman. My personal favorite gunbarrel pose was Dalton's, I liked the 'lean' he added to it.

Still, it's not the end of the world.

At first I was very disappointed to hear that the gunbarrel would not be at the beginning of the film after all 20 previous movies had opened that way. But this looks really cool as long as it's only for one film and they go back to the traditional gunbarrel in Bond 22.
