My.
Word.
Best.
Trailer.
Ever.
This is truly a happy day! The trailer is amazing; the black and white totally work, the gun barrel is an excellent twist on a classic element to a classic franchise, this movie looks like it will be the best Bond movie that we've seen since 1969 I also agree the final shot seemed abrupt like they were going to cut him off from saying the 'line.' Oh well, I suppose the producers may be trying to keep his delivery secret until the film is actually released.
Now if only the English version could be released.
Wait for it...

I'm not sure if anybody caught this but the part where we see somebody ripping a card looks like the card being ripped is a 9 card. The shot is really fast so I could be wrong, but I wonder if the 9 is used as an ode to baccarrat.
peace,

So I guess the "boycott" is off then?

Well, to whet your appetite :
A gritty, atmospheric opening with some black-and-white shots....
Some good signs of an intelligent script....
Dench's M bitching about Bond (as ever)....
A gunbarrel with a bit of a difference....
A beautiful woman emerging from the sea....
Explosions, gadgets, gun battles, chases, action action action....
Yep, it's basically DIE ANOTHER DAY in trailer form!

Let's be fair - these were are all mostly from the *same sequence*.Explosions, gadgets, gun battles, chases, action action action....
Not quite, but I get your point. This film isn't DIE ANOTHER DAY II, but it's not MUNICH-meets-James Bond either. It's very much what I anticipated the trailer would be from when I read the script - classic Bond with an edge.Yep, it's basically DIE ANOTHER DAY II in trailer form!

I'll be interested to see if future trailers bring out more of the drama, which CASINO ROYALE has in abundance.

Isn't it? Count me out, then.
Nah, just kidding around (partially) with my criticisms. I am a bit surprised by the DIE ANOTHER DAY vibe, though - visually, it seems of a piece with DAD, to an extent I wasn't expecting. I do appreciate that it's only a few seconds of footage, and that the film won't be the same sort of relentless actionfest, and on the whole it's an excellent teaser.

not crazy about that final shot of Craig. He looks like he's been on a bender. He's all red around the eyes.

I was trying to warn everbody that the vibe of the script wasn't as Merrick's AICN review portrayed it at all, and much closer to the vibes this trailer sends out.Isn't it? Count me out, then.

Truthfully, though, the trailer also overdoes the action a bit too. But it's a teaser, that's it's job. Show a nice fast-cut montage of action clips, and man, do they look great!
Well considering of all the Brosnan movies, DIE ANOTHER DAY was the one that looked the most like a Bond film, it's not necessarily a bad thing.I am a bit surprised by the DIE ANOTHER DAY vibe, though - visually, it seems of a piece with DAD, to an extent I wasn't expecting.

True. Although this trailer could very easily lead people to assume that it's going to be DAD II, making CR look a lot more action-packed and hi-tech gadget-stuffed than it really is (mind you, that probably wouldn't hurt it at the box office).

I think the DAD resemblance is limited to the device that scans Bond's arm, or whatever it does, Craig rising from the waves, and Arnold's music, which I don't like.

I don't think that's Arnold's music - I think it's music manufactured specifically for the trailer.I think the DAD resemblance is limited to the device that scans Bond's arm, or whatever it does, Craig rising from the waves, and Arnold's music, which I don't like.
That said, I love the trailer's version of the Bond theme. Intense and hard-hitting.

The gritty realistic film that everyone jabbered on about ad nauseum is starting to look like litter in the breeze now.
We can't really say at this point. This teaser trailer is mostly compiled of the 'Bahamas and Miami stuff', the more traditional 'action spectacle filler' supplied by Purvis & Wade in order to pad out Fleming's original storyline. They needed that clumsy last studio shot to remind the audience that this movie will, after all, live up to its title!
The first, black-and-white half seems 'gritty' enough, though.

Actually, I don't think so. The beginning of the trailer was pretty dark and that action in the bathroom looked pretty gritty to me. But I wasn't expecting this film to *feel* washed out, ala Bourne or something. I was expecting it to ooze classic Bond overtones, but bring along with it some character to the Bond role and some heavy-hitting violence. The gritty realistic film that everyone jabbered on about ad nauseum is starting to look like litter in the breeze now.
Honestly, 99% of this footage is primarily from the first 40-or-so minutes of the film (which is fairly action-driven with the two larger action sequences taking place there). It's the other two-thirds of the film that are less action, more suspense.

Craig looked absolutely awful in that last tux shot.I hope to God that wasn't part of the fim.
Were you watching the same trailer I was?
Anyone got a time machine I can leap to November in, please?
