I guess I will have to wait for about nine years for the return of the real James Bond.
Very sad.

And isn't it a wonderful Eon tribute to Ian Fleming to have Bond kill someone in a toilet? I'm sure Ian would have approved.
Not.
Actually Fleming enjoyed sitting on the throne in his bathroom smoking to get away from Annie, so I don't think he would mind the shot in the film.

It's not literally meant to explain the gunbarrel, because the gunbarrel can't actually be explained in any reasonable fashion. It's just too abstract. It's just a way of transferring into the main titles, just as so often occurred before.

This is going to be fantastic. Bond truly is back, with a new visual style.
Loved the shots of the crane, the parkour (which is well shot), Caterina Murino's sexy walk, Eva Green looking genuinely beautiful, and Craig looks like he will have tremendous presence in the movie. The black and white shots were hard to get used to though. The last shot was somewhat jarring, but it's ballsy and I think it's a direct challenge to naysayers.
As for the music, I don't think that's Arnold, despite what many seem to be claiming. That simply isn't his style. In fact, my guess (get ready) is that it's Media Ventures They tend to do a lot of trailers now (I believe they did Zorro) for which their testosterone style works. I loved it, personally. A trailer is meant to thrill!
Now I can't wait for the full fledged English version. zencat, feeling a trifle tempted here?
Thanks to our French colleagues for putting this up.

Eon didn't even bother to darken Craig's hair and eyebrows. Fans deserve so much better than Craig.

Craig doesn't look the part. Fans should expect (deserve) better. It's Bond - the least Eon can do is find a suitable Bond handsome man to play the part!!!
You need a new record. I think yours is broken.

Well, other fans seem to like the choice M's Boss (Bond_Fan, IMDB_Geek, Moomoo etc)

The trailer looks good but Craig is going to be the toughest sell in the history of movies, I reckon. All you die-hard Craig Bond fans better pray people in the US, Europe and the Far East love Craig as much as you do. For a lot of casual Bond fans, the look of Bond does play a part. Eon will have to pray most casual fans (the bulk of people that will determine the film's success) like Craig's 'less conventional' Bond look. It's not enough for fans here to get excited. People that don't post on forums such as this could see that trailer and go "I prefer Pierce." But only time will tell...

His hair looks dark enough to me. It never screams out, "Hey, I'm blonde!"Well, darker hair wouldn't be such a crime, would it? Even the most rabid anti-Craig fan is entitled to say that Craig would look more like Bond with darker hair. But it's been discussed to death.

Fleming fan............... wow, I'm lost for words. Uninspired ? 'He Looks bad' ???? Wow, you are obviously no fan of fleming then. Apart from hair colour, he is the epitomy of what Fleming wanted. We will all look forward to the film, you can go back and watch the old DVD's with invisible cars etc. Daniel Craig is Bond. THE Bond.
Sorry, but I have followed this series for about 44 years and I just do not see James Bond in that trailer. It's just an ugly guy doing action stuff to noisy music. I am sure the Bourne fans will like it and those that think Bond is some kind of anti-hero.
I am sure it will make money, as all they all have, but I do prefer the class and style and comfort of the earlier ones.
The "Bond in the toilet gun-barrel" pretty much sums it al up.

But, still, I guess this is a reality check for those of us expecting a gritfest. I know I'm one of three Bond fans worldwide who'd hoped for a faithful, minimalist adaptation of Fleming's first novel, but, oh, well.
A faithful minimalist version? LOL. Yes, I suppose you must be one of three Bond fans hoping for that. It would be 45 minutes long, for a start!
It's going to be a Bond film. *But* it will have
Far fewer computer-generated images
Hard-hitting fight scenes
Suspenseful and realistic stunts and action
Fewer cheesy one-liners
No Moneypenny or Q
Fewer gadgets
Black and white sequences
A script polished by an Oscar winner
A brilliantly charismatic and raw-steak-eating actor in the lead role
I think it's going to be as gritty as the Dalton era, and possibly more so. If you *seriously* want a faithful minimalist adaptation of the book, complete with a Cold War setting and a chap smoking 70 ciggies a day in a casino in northern France playing cards against a guy who hardly speaks until the second half of the film... well, okay. But it would have been the last Bond film made.
Stop playing devil's advocate and get with the programme, Loomis! This is what you and your ilk* have been baying for since DAD, isn't it?
*Of which I am one.
LOL! But I'm a fanboy, I can't help it. It's in my DNA to complain. Show me a teaser poster, a trailer, a five-second clip on TV, and I'll grumble, no matter how excited about it I may have been beforehand.

Mah-vellous.
I don't really mind the last shot; it's a nice way of teasing the audience. Makes me even more excited for the moment when he actually says the line.

The gun barrel scene is certainly elegant - what with the toilet tiles in the background when Craig fires the gun!
And isn't it a wonderful Eon tribute to Ian Fleming to have Bond kill someone in a toilet? I'm sure Ian would have approved.
Not.
This is truly a sure sign that the trailer is fantastic. When this is the best complaint that the whiners can come up with, you know its all over for them.

Didn't Pierce Brosnan do the same thing in the GoldenEye pre-title sequence? It was OK then, but now now?

Not really. In the age of the anti-hero, Ian Fleming created a romantic hero; neither helpless, nor neurotic.
An anti-hero would not have the staying power that Bond has simply because he would not be that pleasant to watch or read.

My god this trailer is mouth-watering. Why, why is it so long til it comes out? I want it now! Craig looks in great shape for those fighting scenes, and that Parkour chase looks awesome. The scenes with the ladies are pretty sexy too, especially the frolics in the sea. And why is it so bad to have Bond killing someone in a toilet? It's kind of pathetic to suggest that it shouldn't be allowed, I mean can you imagine Bond turning round and saying "sorry mate can we do this somewhere else-hardly the right setting for me to kill you is it"?. Sheesh, why can't you just wet your pants in anticipation like the rest of us?
I agree with you completely. And your last line... LOL!
