Whilst browsing the internet I came across this from on a web site called gossip monkey ...

http://www.moviehole...on_peggs_l.html

'UK actor writer Simon Pegg's eagerly awaited follow up to his Rom Zom Com hit 'Shaun of the Dead' is titled 'Hot Fuzz' and will begin shooting in a few week's time. The pic is a comedy that pretty much sends up the buddy buddy cop pics of the 80's and 90's, like he and his team did with the zombie movies. Pegg will once again be acting, but center stage will be former Bond Timothy Dalton and "Moulin Rouge" and "Gangs of New York" actor Jim Broadbent. Edgar Wright is up for directing duties.'

Anyone who has seen Shaun of The Dead or Spaced will know Peggs work. I have no idea how accurate this is or if it is remotely true, but I do know Pegg is making a film called Hot Fuzz and it is the same vein as Shaun of The Dead.

Anyone know anything about this? It does seem a little unlikely but who knows!

I quite like the idea of Tim and Jim working together though.

Good catch, Lady Rose. Hot Fuzz has been listed on the IMDB for quite some time, but the Dalton / Broadbent connection is news to me. Should be brilliant. Shaun of the Dead was one of the funniest comedies in years, and given the cult status of Pegg and Wright, this might just be the offbeat career-boost Dalton needs. And a pairing with Broadbent is pretty juicy too (one of my fondest memories of him is as Mr. Boo in Little Voice, one of the funniest unfunny characters I've ever seen).

Yeah, it sounds like the kind of offbeat project that would interest both of them. Shaun of The Dead was great.

Dalton? It sounds too random not to be true! Should be interesting.

It's about beat coppers, isn't it?

From what I can gather, its a send up of the '80's buddie cop movies, a bit like Shaun of The Dead was a send up of the horror genre.

If this is true ( and I haven't seen it anywhere else yet ) I have no idea what roles they would have, as I would expect Pegg to be the lead but they will need a Lieutenant/Inspector type character and a bad guy no doubt.

But like you say, its a bit random.

It's about a London policeman who gets transferred to a West Country village. Tim Dalton is supposed to be playing one of the villagers. The local squire, maybe?

And set in the '70s !

Apparently it was also mentioned in Daily Mail the other day.

Filming starts any day so I am sure there will be some concrete news soon about casting.

Hot Fuzz Heats Up

Source: Peggster.net, Working Title Films March 1, 2006

Working Title has announced that its next production will be Hot Fuzz, an action comedy from Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg, co-creators of the hugely successful romzomcom, Shaun of the Dead.

A Working Title production in association with Big Talk Productions, Hot Fuzz is directed by Edgar Wright and stars Simon Pegg.

A comedy about a London cop who is seconded to deepest, darkest Somerset, the film is from an original screenplay by Wright and Pegg. Hot Fuzz will be produced by Nira Park (Shaun of the Dead), Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner and the executive producer is Natascha Wharton.

Pegg leads a stellar British cast including Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead), Jim Broadbent (Moulin Rouge!), Timothy Dalton (The Living Daylights), Steve Coogan (Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story) and Martin Freeman (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy).

Says producer Nira Park, "We're delighted to once again be joining creative forces with Working Title on this very exciting and very British film. Together, we're looking forward to giving the police action genre the same treatment we gave the living dead in 2004."

Police constable, Nicholas Angel is good at his job, so good in fact, he makes everyone else look bad. As a result, his superiors at the Met have decided to sweep him under the carpet. So it is that London's top cop finds himself in the sleepy West Country village of Sandford. With garden fetes and neighbourhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman (Frost), an oafish but well meaning young Constable, who dreams of being Mel Gibson. Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates Angel into action. Convinced of foul play, Angel realises that Sandford may not be as idyllic as it seems.

The film will start principal photography later on in March.

It's ho-ho-7 for Dalton

Mar 12 2006
Rachel Mainwaring, Wales on Sunday

FORMER James Bond star Timothy Dalton has proved there's life after 007 by landing a role beside Steve Coogan in a new Brit flick.

The Colwyn Bay actor, who starred in two Bond movies The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill, has done relatively low-profile work since his stint as Bond in the '80s.

But now he's set to star alongside Shaun of the Dead star Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Oscar winner Jim Broadbent and The Office star Martin Freeman in new comedy Hot Fuzz.

The film is being made by Working Title, the creators of Love Actually, Nanny McPhee, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and About A Boy.

Hot Fuzz is a comedy about a London cop who is seconded to deepest, darkest Somerset.

Simon Pegg said: "We're trying to tell the story of a policeman from the metropolitan police who gets involved in some crazy stuff.

"It should be fun because we're dealing with a culture that doesn't really have guns and the police aren't really armed. So that should be fun trying make an action movie out of that."

And the huge success of Shaun of the Dead both in Britain and the US, has led the involved production companies to open up their wallets a bit more.

"With Shaun of the Dead in the States and the kind of interest in it there, it's been just so wonderful for us, so we were kind of surprised.

"Working Title was very pleased with us this year, in fact this year we did them proud, and Universal as well.

"So the budget is kind of more than double what Shaun was."

Since his days as the super-spy Bond, now played by new boy Daniel Craig, Timothy has acted in several mini-series for US TV, as well as voicing Daffy Duck in Looney Toons, The Movie.

But things are certainly hotting up for the Welsh actor, who now lives in Los Angeles - he's also about to star in Miss Marple's The Sittaford Mystery.

Timothy will work with Laurence Fox and James Murray, playing a character named Clive Trevelyan, the owner of a mansion on the moors which is a guesthouse where Miss Marple goes to stay. The character is also an eminent politician tipped to be the next prime minister but that plan goes awry when he "wakes up all dead" one morning with a knife in his chest.

But, it's nice to see Timothy's career is far from dead!

Even though I wasn't the biggest fan of Shaun of the Dead (it turns into a conventional zombie movie in the end rather than keeping up the humor), I'm looking forward to this. If it's as good as the firat half of Shaun, it should be a hoot.

FILMING UNDER WAY ON HOT FUZZ

Filming officially started yesterday on Hot Fuzz, the new action comedy brought to you by Working Title Films in association with Big Talk Productions.

This highly-anticipated next project from co-writers Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg, creators of Shaun of the Dead, is a comedy about a successful London cop (Nicholas Angel) who is seconded to the sleepy West Country village of Sandford which is he soon realises may not be quite as idyllic as it first appears.

Once again Wright directs whilst Pegg leads the cast, joined by Shaun of the Dead co-star, Nick Frost, and a stellar British cast including Jim Broadbent, Timothy Dalton and Martin Freeman.

To keep you up to date with what's happening on set, we will be bringing you regular video blogs from the cast and crew, starting with an insight into some of the training involved in getting ready for filming, brought to you by Simon Pegg. Just click below to view the blog.

HOT FUZZ 2006

Police Constable, Nicholas Angel is good at his job, so good in fact, he makes everyone else look bad. As a result, his superiors at the Met have decided to sweep him under the carpet. So it is that London's top cop finds himself in the sleepy West Country village of Sandford. With garden fetes and neighbourhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman, an oafish but well meaning young Constable. Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates Angel into action. Convinced of foul play, Angel realises that Sandford may not be as idyllic as it seems. With his faithful new partner in tow, Angel fights to prove his instincts are correct and uncover the truth about Sandford. Is Angel simply losing his mind in the safest, sweetest village in Britain? Or is something far more sinister at work? Whatever the truth, Sandford is about to get a lot less sleepy.

HOT FUZZ is written by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg, reuniting the creative force behind SHAUN OF THE DEAD. Once again, Wright directs as Pegg leads a stellar cast which includes Jim Broadbent, Nick Frost and Timothy Dalton.

And here is what I found on the David Arnold's music...

Music News
David Arnold’s Hot Fuzz In The Summertime
Dateline: Monday, March 20, 2006

By: RANDALL LARSON
By: Columnist
After he completes scoring the new James Bond film, CASINO ROYALE, for director Martin Campbell, David Arnold (who perfectly replicated and expanded the classic John Barry 007 sound for TOMORROW NEVER DIES, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH, and DIE ANOTHER DAY), will score an upcoming British action comedy entitled HOT FUZZ. That film is directed by Edgar Wright and written by Wright and Simon Pegg, the men behind the popular cult comedy SHAUN OF THE DEAD. The film stars Pegg, Nick Frost and among others Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent, Paddy Considine, Timothy Dalton, Edward Woodward, Steve Coogan, Martin Freeman, Bill Bailey, and does for action/cop movies what SHAUN OF THE DEAD did for zombie movies. The film is scheduled to be released early next year. Apart from CASINO ROYALE and HOT FUZZ, David Arnold has also started on the score for Michael Apted’s new film, AMAZING GRACE, about the Parliamentary reformer William Wilberforce, who virtually single handedly ended British involvement in the slave trade. The film is to be released in December 2006 by Walden Media.

According to Arnold’s web site, he has also been working with rockers Massive Attack on their new single ‘Live with Me.’ Arnold conducted the string session for the single at Abbey road – the music video has been shot by Jonathon Glazer. David has also completed writing and producing with Shirley Manson, lead singer of the band Garbage, for her new upcoming project.

Will be interesting to see what this turns out like (haven't seen Shaun of the Dead) - though if the humour's black (like Hawks, which for me is one of TD's most underrated performances) it should be a cool flick.
