(Although I was one of those that believed that the Vesper described by Fleming was not an all-out stunning woman). But Ms. Byrne seems she could play the role well, having appeared in Troy and Wicker Park.

She plays a crazy stalker girl in Wicker Park.
And she was quite good in that rather odd film.
I wouldn't have thought of her for the part. But now that I do, she seems a very good choice. She can certainly bring the pathos. And she's beautiful in a Vesper-ish sort of way.

"All the actresses had to perform a bedroom scene with Daniel where Bond says he is leaving the service to be with Vesper Lynd."

Plus Byrne has a lot of the quality that you get from reading Fleming's description and her eyes have a great secretive quality about them too. Fantastic choice.

That sounds good! Here's what I found interesting about the article...
"All the actresses had to perform a bedroom scene with Daniel where Bond says he is leaving the service to be with Vesper Lynd."
It sounds odd to me.
If CR is meant to be Bond's very first assaignment with the service, then doesn't it sound strange that he wants to quite the service to spend time with Vesper.
In reality the mission would go on for about 2 to 3 weeks. So technically Bond wouldn't be with the service very long at all

If it was *your* first mission for MI6 and you got captured by the enemy and had some psychotic loon beat your testes with a household implement for a couple of hours, then fell in love with a fellow agent, might you not consider it's not for you, too?

I would suggest people check that film out to see her acting. Troy might be the bigger movie but Wicker Park shows more of her range. She plays a crazy stalker girl in Wicker Park.

My gut reaction is that she's too young. Sterling and Farmiga were much more interesting choices IMHO. Anyway, we'll see.
I too would have preferred Stirling or Farmiga over Byrne, although I liked Byrne as the feisty Briseis in Troy. At 26 she isn't too young, I suppose, but she does look a bit younger than her actual age. I can't help but mesmerize about the other two candidates- Stirling's deep, hoarse voice would be a match for Craig's, Farmiga's extraordinary lapis lazuli eyes would be a match for Craig's. But perhaps I'm pushing it. Byrne is a little bit more 'conventional' than the other two, but I guess she'll do nicely. I'll definitely look up Wicker Park.
BTW, everyone is treating this as the Truth. Maybe I'm being overly suspicious, but is there no chance that, in the end, this could be a rumour too? Just checking...

Can't wait for a press conference to confirm or disprove all of these recent "scoops"...
