Listen up...Daniel Craig IS James Bond. Looking at the trailers and the outtakes, this guy gets it. He's going to be the Bond Fleming wrote about in the books. I am so geeked and ready for the rewlease of this movie. Bond is not back...he's (finally) here!

I don't think there are enough drugs in the world to make me think that Craig is the Bond Fleming described, but each to their own.

Is it so hard to believe he was talking about attitude and personality, and not looks?

The Bond of the books is a fastidious snob on an expense account from a distinct strata of British society. Craig is a little too everyman for me to ever convince in these areas and doesn't look like the Bond Fleming described. Others find elements in Craig that they can fit with the literary character but personally I find that a few of the fundamentals are lacking.

"A Glaswegian lorry driver who mangles my character."
- Ian Fleming on the casting of Sean Connery

"Well, we're not going to make any money out of this. How can we show a picture which has a limey truck driver playing the lead?"
- U.A. executive after the first studio screening.

Hmmm. Makes you wonder: If Ian Fleming could be so DEAD WRONG about the casting of James Bond, how possible is it that all those against Craig are equally as wrong? I predict Daniel Craig will become the most popular (and successful) Bond since Connery.

Amen. I used to think he was frighteningly ugly, but after seeing Layer Cake and Munich, I'm glad the makers stuck with their ballsy decision. he's got the attitude and the vulnerability.

Been a Bond fan ever since I first saw License to Kill when I was 7. IMO, Casino Royale is gonna put Bond back on the map like no one ever dreamed of. Ethan Hunt and other wannabe pretty boys better watch out!

"Whatever's left of me. Whatever I am. I'm yours." I love that freaking quote!

Lots of authors were wrong about the choice of actor playing their fictional creations. Daniel Craig is James Bond. I don't know why people have such a hard time with this.

Lack of imagination mostly. It was the same with Connery. Fleming and the studio execs saw a working class Scotsman and not a gentleman spy with a license to kill. The irony being that as an actor it's his job to pretend to be the role.

I've no doubt it's the same with Daniel Craig. "He's never played a role like Bond so he doesn't fit the part blah blah blah." If the trailer and advance word is any indication, he's going to be off-the-charts amazing in the role.

Ignore him Matthew - antiques guys don't know much about Bond :)

But one year already? Wow - time has flown. Has been a very exciting time to be a Bond fan, and it's now only 33 days until one of the most anticipated days in the franchise's history. Hope this time just flies by!

Hi,

I think it is great that Daniel Craig takes over this legendary character, The choice could not have been more perfect.
What is all that nonsense about his hair colour???lol:)

I have seen some of his films and all i can say is that I have honestly been impressed. He has great charisma and talent. and yes he is weeeelll sexy...what is there to wish more for?
I have seen the few first trailers and it looks great! can't wait to see it.

I am sure DC will deliver an unexpected performance, a turn in the Bond saga.
Well done Daniel and good luck

Welcome, Sabrina :P

Great to see that coming from a female and not from a guy who says all the women ,who he has talked to, think that DC is ugly.

So much of female audience avoiding CR, since pretty boy Brosnan aint in it.
(Eat your heart out, Deanna! Joke...I dont want her to eat her own heart... :) )

Friday Night, 3 Nov 2006, Odeon Theatre, Leicester Square, London: 1st screening of Casino Royale @ 144 minutes.

The Times, The Mirror, The Sun, The Telegraph, and The Daily Mail all report favorable reviews. The one descenting report coming from The Guardian.

Looks like "Bond is Back!"

Hi guys, thanks for your nice welcoming words.
Who are u all from?

I live in the UK (Newcastle) originally french, I am so happy that the film got great reviews in the papers after all the awful comments that have been made on Craig. He definitely got his revenge and even more as this 007 agent is largely compared to Sean Connery's performance which is a great honour I think considering the uneasy task he was given!

(Got my revenge too, my friends thought I was a bit loopy thinking that Casino Royale was going to be a massive hit! ...what can I say always trust your instinct:))

xx

Hi All,

I am really looking forward to this movie. Daniel Craig is going to be superb. He was fantastic in Layer Cake and Munich! And he's British! He's a fine actor and I think he's going to be even better than Sean Connery and Roger Moore put together! :)

I am one of the many new faces around here. Ive been a member for a while, i just havent posted much. There will be a lot of newcomers, like myself, as Casino Royale approaches!

About the whole thing with the DC haters. I am a huge batman and i post on BOF all the time. We have people there that absolutly hate the casting decision of Heath Ledger as the Joker. They never stop complaining. But when the film finally comes out, i know they will shut up. So my advise is just deal with them for 5 more days!

This will probably be one of the highest grossing bonds ever, and Daniel will become the new face of bond.

BTW
"you know my name" rocks!

Im gonna go plug in Die Another Day, because im so excited.

Peace

I am very happy, waitin 5 january 007 (yes, in Italy we need to wait until 007 for 007!).

Yeah, I'm one of those who joined CBn as Casino Royale approached. I partially joined to enlist in the fight FOR Daniel Craig, but more so for the happiness that this episode will be a return to the essential character, a central plot with suspense and romance, and sans ultra-futuristic (and lately un-realistic) gadgets.

I'm repeating myself here (3rd Vesper hence), but it seems 007 was more Superman than Super-spy: A spray of bullets from 10 machine guns just bounce off our hero; he can leap (para-sailed) to the top of a glacier in a single bound; you get my drift.

This new movie is what I have longed for, for many, many years.

And I am completely satisfied! Bond is indeed back! What a movie. Yes, at 2 hours plus, my [censored] got a little sore, but my desire to see more was fulfilled. What an ending: "My name's Bond, James Bond."

That short, blonde, blue-eyed, big-eared bloke stole the role. Daniel Craig was the best decision by far. He worked hard to prepare, and acted brilliantly.

To see our hero bleed, love, and grieve, was absolutely inspirational to the character. America's Jack Ryan, Ethan Hunt and Jason Bourne can now eat their hearts out. This bloke called James Bond rules.

Saw CR this afternoon. Loved it, and Craig is Bond.

Smiled while watching it, thinking of how all those reviewers and reporters were saying this is the era of Borne & Co. This Bond could kick all their [censored] without spilling a drop of his Vesper :)

No offense, but I'd have to question how much Fleming you've actually read. You sound very much like you're describing John Gardner's Bond, not Fleming's. To call the decidedly "rough-around-the-edges" Bond of books like CASINO ROYALE, MOONRAKER and YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE a "fastidious snob" from a "distinct strata of British society" is to suggest that perhaps you didn't read those particular books, or simply didn't pay much attention to them when you did. You also tip your hand that the looks are a big hang-up for you, which seems a tad silly since Craig is not much farther from Fleming's Bond than Sean Connery was, appearance-wise. It might be more helpful to you to skip all those drugs you mentioned and just set aside some quality reading time.

All I can really add is that I saw Casino Royale on Saturday and I was greatly entertained and impressed with Daniel's performance, and the entire movie itself. I want to see it again, and I will buy the DVD!

I did venture over to that silly Craigisnotbond site and those kids are really happy that due to their 'boycott' :) that is the reason why Happy Feet narrowly beat CR by less than a million dollars at the box office. I hope they are so elated by this pitiful acknowledgement. But they will feel stupid once the worldwide BO goes over $300 million.

:P
