Go to whysoserious.com (click on the little flashing dot on the right near "empty handed"). You can see the trailer in Quicktime, and pick your quality. Is that in HD or something? I'm on a good broadband connection and it's all choppy.

There's two kinds of teasing:Wishing for more, but it certainly has me teased.
Good: Your girlfriend pretending to take off her shirt for a few minutes before she actually does.
Bad: The school bully calling you Four Eyes.
The Dark Knight teaser is the latter.

It would of been nice if footage was included, but the teaser has done its job for me. Heath Ledger really did freak me out with that sinister voice and laugh. Reminded me of Nicholson a tad, which is excellent but with a new freakish element of his own. That is Joker.

How is it so bad? Sure, you don't see anything. It's not like you get a glimpse at the goods... To follow your illustrations, this is the kind of tease where your girlfriend says something rather naughty on your voicemail, promising you'll get it all later. It's not as good as other teases, but it's hardly awful. There's two kinds of teasing:Wishing for more, but it certainly has me teased.

Seriously, having that trailer is better than having nothing. At least we got a great glimpse of Ledger's Joker voice.

Now I can get a glimpse of his face; had trouble with the pc... I see that he's applying makeup instead of the chemical accident...

Seriously. There's even footage of INDY 4, kind of, and a couple of minutes of JOHN RAMBO (both of which will also be released next summer, as I understand it), so the DARK KNIGHT folks have no excuse.

Great teaser trailer. It does exactly what it's supposed to do: givess us a glimpse of the Joker in the next film (even if it is just his voice, which is good enough for me), and makes us excited to see TDK. Bottom line, we're fortunate to have gotten this much at this point. The film is still an entire year away, and WB is doing a great job with the marketing campaign so far.
Agreed. I know that I was very skeptical of the casting of Heath Ledger as the Joker, but seeing the new picture in this thread and hearing his voice in the trailer, I'm sold on it now. It sounds as though he's completely nailed the voice for the character, and I can't say that I'm skeptical about his casting anymore. It looks like he will do a fine job, and for the first time since before the casting of the film, I'm actually excited to see it.

I don't think they're worried about that. Seeing as BEGINS was one of the biggest DVD sellers ever, I think they're (rightfully) sure that all they have to do is say "Hey! This is the sequel to BEGINS, and the Joker's in it!" and they'll make gonzo dollars. Besides, it's a year before the film's out, so they're not worried about really advertising the sucker yet. The stuff now is mostly for the fans anticipating its release (aside from the teaser, which is more of an announcement than it is a glimpse at the film itself).Give non-hardcore Batman fans some incentive to check out this so-called teaser
Nolan's from a different school of thought re: the films. He wants things to be as secretive as possible before the film's released. For him, a movie is a magic trick, and he doesn't want to give away secrets before its release.Seriously. There's even footage of INDY 4, kind of, and a couple of minutes of JOHN RAMBO (both of which will also be released next summer, as I understand it), so the DARK KNIGHT folks have no excuse.
Still, there's been an astounding amount of promotion for a film a year away. The internet campaign for this film is amazingly intricate (and amazingly fun). Far better than any trailer could be, if you ask me.
Glad to hear it. I think Ledger's going to blow everyone away come Summer 2008.I know that I was very skeptical of the casting of Heath Ledger as the Joker, but seeing the new picture in this thread and hearing his voice in the trailer, I'm sold on it now. Agreed. The marketing for this film, which is still a year away, has been absolutely fantastic. This is how film marketing should be done. It's been a very inventive campaign, and this is just teaser material. I can't imagine what they have in store for when the film gets closer to completion and the release date is approaching.
As far as Ledger's concerned, add me to the list of people who think he's going to surprise people with this film. Sure, I was not in favor of the casting at the start, but he really does look very good in some of the newer pictures I've seen of him as the Joker, and that voice in the trailer is pretty much what I would want the Joker to sound like.

I hear ya. The viral campaign is only going to get more interesting from here on out.I can't imagine what they have in store for when the film gets closer to completion and the release date is approaching.
He was an oddball choice. Like many oddball casting decisions in the past, he's going to have to win people over. But I think he'll do it. He certainly has the material to do it, and he looks every bit the sadistic, psycho SOB that I've been dying to see come to film.As far as Ledger's concerned, add me to the list of people who think he's going to surprise people with this film. Fair enough.

Was it? Not disputing that, but I didn't know that. Interesting.

Again, fair enough. Haven't seen the site, so I'll take your word for it. I'm sure there'll be a "proper" teaser for Joe Publics like me at some point soon. I'm just a bit disappointed, 'coz I'm looking forward to THE DARK KNIGHT (albeit from the perspective of a fairweather average viewer and non-Batman fan), but I'm sure you can understand that!

We'll see. I'm not expecting another trailer until December, though it's quite possible we'll get one before then.I'm sure there'll be a "proper" teaser for Joe Publics like me at some point soon.
Yeah, I can understand that, and I personally was hoping for footage. I'm disappointed we didn't get a truly epic teaser trailer for the ages (some of the rumored teaser trailers were quite fantastic). But I'm not really upset over what we got.I'm just a bit disappointed, 'coz I'm looking forward to THE DARK KNIGHT (albeit from the perspective of a fairweather average viewer and non-Batman fan), but I'm sure you can understand that!
But at least we have a groovy pic of Ledger's Joker pointing a knife in Gyllenhaal's face.

I would expect another teaser, a proper teaser, towards the end of the year -- I'm thinking attached to I Am Legend.

As anticipated as I am for this movie (because I love Batman Begins - best superhero flick to date IMHO), this teaser just didn't do it for me. Of course it's really early and this "teaser" is more of an "announcement teaser" so I'm not really bothered. Love the dialogue and the Joker's laugh. I was skeptical of Ledger, but I'm thinking he may prove to be a great choice afterall. The voice and the way he said the line in the teaser was perfect.

I was a bit disappointed by the teaser as well, only in as much as it wasn't that truly terrific rumored teaser mentioned earlier in the thread. That would have been a truly all-time great trailer, and maybe that could end up being a second teaser trailer somewhere down the line. But, for what it was, an announcement-trailer of sorts, this was very, very well done, and despite the fact it only features dialogue, has me very interested in seeing the film.
I think that you're right in that we could see a more substantial teaser featured with I Am Legend, as that would seem to be in the kind of movie that would feature trailers for films such as a Batman film.

Although it's nearly a year away, what do we expect.
I think it's kind enough of them to offer a glimpse this early, whats next a teaser as soon as the film is green lit.
Their's plenty of work to do on this still, it's by no means finished, I wouldn't be surprised if a another more revealing teaser is released before the end of the year.
This film is some what revolutionary in it's approach to to promotion and expecting anything else but a tease is wishful thinking. They call them teasers for a reason you know.
I know we are all excited to see more but we don't want the film spoiled for us nearly a year before release.
This is one hell of a tease but those carefully chosen morsels of dialogue are simply
awesome, Heath sounds scary & maniacal in one go and particularly Caine's lines are simply brilliant
"some men just want to watch the world burn"
I love the way Nolan used Caine's Alfred in Begins giving so much character & depth making totally integral to Bale's Wayne & Batman.

Yeah. It's not an even dye.Is that a tad of blonde in the Joker's hair?
