Well. I forgot to post this last night. But Martin Campbell was interviewed on 'Film 2005'. He said that James Bond HAS NOT been cast yet. Also he mentioned that most of the production would be filmed in Prague, and a little in England.

So it's either The 'Maily Dail' (intended misquote) knows more than Mr Campbell.  :)

I just saw a small report on CNN that reported on the Daniel Craig-James Bond rumors. They said nothing new but now that CNN is reporting on the Bond rumors, there is a good chance this could be legit, not that is wasn't before. And for some reason the enterainment reporter thinks that the new Cheif Justice on the United States Supreme Cout, John Roberts, would make a good James Bond. What do you think?

You know what, now that I look at him, he could pass a James Bond.

Lol the guy looks like a (very) worsened copy of William Holden. But if Craig can.. why not him?? lol :) :)

He should've played in Bewitched instead of Will Ferrell. They could've made a faithful adaptation of the sitcom. :)

He appeared for about 25 seconds. And all he said was that Bond has not been cast, and about the studio filming locations.

That was it. Okay, it looked like it was pre-filmed, but I would say it's pretty much up-to-date.

Did any other Brit watch this?.

Fantastic! I hope is true, though I still doubt it, but still he is by far the best of the candidates (Not counting Owen and Brosnan).
He has an amazing coolness to his persona, an intense style in his acting that will emote danger and menace; turning CR into a real spy thriller, but balanced with the 007 elements, a balance that Campbell has been aiming for since GE, and because Craig is such a versatile actor, he can also be charming and elegant.
And while Henry Cavill will remain unknown as CR releases, Craig will be quite famous by that time with Steven Spielberg's "Munich" and the

I watched this tonight after recording it yesterday. The Casino Royale report was a brief segment in the show's Movie News feature. Campbell's exact words were "We don't have a Bond yet. We haven't chosen one!" Of course he could be fibbing, preferring not to give the scoop to Jonathan Ross.

The stress of finding a new Bond is obviously getting to Campbell as most of his hair seems to have fallen out. How long has he looked like this! :)

Fox News Channel just ran the story that Craig has been chosen for the role and that an announcement is coming later this week. Sounded like the same thing the original article was saying, but now we have another source running the story.

View Post

Yes, you are totally off. :)

Fleming wrote unambiguously that Bond had black hair.

Of course, the films have sometimes departed from this. Moore certainly had light hair. But if Craig were cast, I think he'd be given a dye job.

In all fairness, I have no real issue with Craig as James Bond...I just didn't want to see him as Bond in Casino Royale.

It would have been ABSOLUTELY PERFECT to have Brosnan "resign" at its conclusion...and have the screen pop up a "James Bond Will Return"...only to be followed by a question mark shortly thereafter...

...and have Craig be the new Bond in 2007.

At this point, the only reason I am sad is because Pierce will play Bond no more, and they can't really go back to him...I guess they CAN, but won't.

As for Craig - best of luck to him, and I will be there on opening night.

The man is much suited as a Bond villian, he looks like one more then Bond, what if he is in Casino Royale, but not bond.

I think that they've casted him for Le Chiffre and have either Cavill or Visnjic as Bond. As far as I can tell, that's about the only realistic scenario that would allow for Craig to be in Casino Royale.

I hope this is the case, because I think O'Lachlan, Cavill, or Visnjic would be much better as Bond.

It's like April all over again. :)

This report of the story includes this -

"Craig will make his debut as 007 in Casino Royale, according to both the Sun and the Daily Mail.

"As far as I know, it's confirmed," said a spokesman for Columbia Pictures, which will be releasing the new film next year."

I hope it turns out to be true this time.

This "news" today that Craig "is" Bond is kind of funny. I've been championing him for Bond for so long on this site and others, but to be perfectly honest, I never thought they'd choose him. I figured that there was probably a better chance of Connery returning to the role at the beginning of Craig's candidacy. But, now that it looks like Craig is actually going to be the one stepping into the tux, I've got to say that I'm shocked that EON actually did it. They had two options staring them in the face: 1. Go with a "safe" pick (i.e. Butler, Purefoy, Owen, Jackman, Brosnan) or 2. Go with someone completely different who bring the character closer to what Fleming described him as being (i.e.: Daniel Craig). The fact that they went for the second option (apparently) still shocks me, but I have to say that I am glad for this change in direction, if all of this is true.

So if you don't moan and complain, you're a spin doctor (or a "blind follower")? Geez, I'm not crazy about Craig either, but if he's cast, why not be optimistic? This is just a movie, after all. Why not try to get excited about it?

But when was the interview with Campbell recorded? It could've been a few days ago and not live. So back when Campbell said this, it could've been before the Craig report, which would've made it correct at the time. EON might've since chosen a Bond.

If Craig is cast I only hope he's good. What else would a Bond fan hope for?

I think Visnjic would be a perfect Bond but can't say I ever had any real hope that they'd be brave enough to cast him. It's shame because he can do edgy and dark perfectly.

So if it's Craig (not handsome, not dark haired, not really anything that I think of as at all Bond - but there's more to being attractive and compelling than being good looking I think)I hope he makes a decent fist of it. I don't want the franchise sunk so I hope the boy does good. I'll pay my money and I'll be there watching.

The one thing that makes me hopeful is the talk of making Bond closer to the very dark character Fleming wrote. If they've cast a not conventionally handsome actor perhaps it means they'll eschew the charm 'n' smarm and concentrate on the mans personality.

MI6 has an article atributed to Reuters that says that EON has confirmed that the the decision still has yet to be made, and that Daniel Craig is just one of the actors still up for the role.

I think that EON may have allowed this "confirmation" to occur today so that they could float Daniel Craig's name out to the public and see what the reaction is for the public at large, not just those of us who talk about him in a fan forum. And, I must say, the reaction has been very negative, with an overwhelming majority being against Craig. Sadly to say, I don't think that Craig will be Bond.
