I always thought Craig looked a bit like Owen. That was one of the first things I noticed about him. I posted something like "this guy looks like a smaller, lighter, uglier version of Clive." I was vociferously opposed to Craig when his name first came up. Now, I'm optimistic about him. If he's chosen, I'll give him a chance.

Well, if this news turns out to be true, and Daniel Craig does indeed end up being the next James Bond, I'll be open minded about him.. Casino Royale could very well be a pleasent surprise.. If it isn't, then I'll bitch and complain about EON choosing the wrong guy for the role..In any event, i'm getting excited!! :)

I am sure that all Bond fans will go see the movie in the theater....I mean I'm no fan of Brosnan in the role. but I always saw him in the theater. Bond movies are big spectacle movies that are best on the big screen.

Personally, although he's not my top choice, I'll put my faith in EON that they know what they are doing and reserve judgement until I've seen Craig as 007.

But you have prior knowledge of Bond, no? You don't live in a vacuum- which do you think is more likely to be driven by Bond; a Fiat Panda or the new Aston Martin? And as you were told it would be a Fiat by a man whose job it is to promote Fiats and who said he didn't know what they would be doing with it, and that Aston Martin had already claimed they were being used; you really 100% believed that and didn't think that saying the Fiat was Bond's new car would get the story sold easier, even though it's unlikely to be true?

View Post

I see your point spy, but I do not express judgements when I write.

Alessandra, I see why you made this mistake, but that was marktmurphy you were replying to, not me. :) And apologies if I came down a bit harsh on you earlier - this place is getting to me a little. I should perhaps cut back on the benzedrine. :) It's a little stuffy in here.

Come on, EON! Make it Craig for CASINO ROYALE! He's got the shoulders for it. :)

LMAO! :) SORRY! it was Mark, not you, SORRY! lol
I know I too am harsh when I reply, but when it's about my job, I just can't take it in a relaxed way !!! :)
now now.. are you looking for trouble with that shoulders comment??? :)
LOL. TERRIBLE shoulders. TERRIBLE.. but if they pick him with all these ugly features they MUST have a reason.
I don't like him as Bond at all but I still think there must be some sort of reasoning in the choices they make. I won't go to the theater to see this guy play Bond but I'll gladly watch the DVD lol. :)
now..for AWESOME shoulders, I recommend the new nike commercial for the Nike Pro T-shirts. The one with Thierry Henry and Rafael Nadal.... THOSE are shoulders!! :)

At "Slate.com", film critic David Edelstein has some thoughts on the "new James Bond", Daniel Craig. (Although he does admit he may be jumping the gun.)

Worth a look.

If Craig is Bond, the film won't be a very big hit. If the budget is low, it may post a bit of a profit. I suspect it will be his first and last Bond.

Think you all are ahead of me, but I just updated Tim's main pager with this:

Update (10:50AM):

Variety.com is reporting Craig's publicist only offered a "no comment" and the PRs at Eon Productions, the producers of the Bond franchise, were said to be "in a meeting."

Craig's agents ICM in London said they couldn't comment until Eon made an announcement but expected that 007 producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson would let the cat out of the bag by the end of the week.

Reading this...I think this is real. I think the :) is coming down and it's coming down NOW. Either it is Craig (and I think it could be), or he's being used as cover for someone else. But my gut tells me we are going to find out who will be Bond in CR very very soon.

View Post

Extraordinary. Of course, perhaps the reason that Craig's agents in London can't comment is that they're also waiting for Eon to make a decision.

As for Craig being a cover for someone else, who do you think he might be covering for? Brosnan? Owen? O'Lachlan? And why would he and his agents be okay with that? (After all, once Brosnan, Owen, O'Lachlan or whoever were announced, Craig would go down in history as "the guy who lost out to....".)

View Post

I don't think it's a matter for agents to be or not be okay with it.. it's just the proof that all those involved in the testing at an earlier or later stage are sworn to silence (they make them sign a "silence agreement" that is lol :))
so since Craig tested for the movie (God knows for what role LOL :)) they have NO CHOICE but silence, and no comment.
Whether this is because someone else has been appointed, and they must reveal nothing in order not to have the range of candidates reduced, thus make people better understand who it could be, or because Craig has been appointed, I do not know.
I must say though, out of experience, that a no comment from PRs to a specific question means, in a higher percentage of occasions, "yes" rather than "no".
now don't take this as a piece of news!lol :) I'm just saying, in general that's how it works.

Alessandra, I really don't follow you. Lampert is an entertainment journalist - just because two Italian news agencies haven't run the story doesn't mean she's wrong. She may well have an insider source, as you say. And if she does, and they've told her that Craig has signed, AGI, ADNKronos, Reuters, AP, Dow Jones, Bloomberg and everyone else woudn't have a clue. It's her source.

What's so hard to understand? You have sources, too.

The question is whether or not Lampert's source is sufficiently placed to know the real state of play. It's not anything that AGI would have a clue about - especially as it's an Italian news agency, and Lampert is a London-based entertainment journalist who thrives on sources.

View Post

ok I give up!!!
I just don't manage to make my point, my English is not good enough today!!! lol
:)

II am not saying that because the italian agencies haven't written a story it's not true! I'm saying that because no italian, english, american or whatever worldwide serious newssource has published it, it's unlikely to be true!! because as well sourced as this lady may be, it's extremely unlikely that a reliable source on such a matter would talk, of all people, only to the Mail, without anyone else being aware of what is going on. STILL, I also said (see above) that this girl may as well have doorstepped Craig 24/7 and have the big scoop but somehow I doubt it. Why? Because there's no such thing as a big scoop made out of speculation, that's why!
a journalist with a scoop cites places, people, times, dates that nobody else has! and she isn't doing this in her story.

View Post

I can only agree with you. Even Reuters is sceptically reporting on this "news".
I think it is just a way of searching the big publicity for the Daily Mail and what would be better than to instrumentalize the following days full of tension and thrill and to focus on one`s own paper?
Daniel Craig will mean the end for the franchise. Sorry, but even from the last pics that an admirer of craig has posted I cannot see him as bond.Though he could be the perfect evil in CR. I don`t care who it is as long it is not Craig or Ewan Stewart. If they really think of bringing Craig on board, they should better go for Pierce "Brozzy" Brosnan. I don`t care if it is jackman, o`lachlan, visnjic or McMahon. But Daniel Craig will mean the death of the franchise.

Lol optimism is making its way through here heh?? :)
I LOVE Brosnan..btw I had never seen "laws of attraction" with him and Julianne Moore.. well I happened to buy the DVD at the weekend and found it absolutely enjoyable..very funny. (OOK I HEAR YA IT'S A MOVIE FOR WOMEN!! BUT STILL NICE!! lol :))
and Pierce is GREAT and looks gorgeous.. he is not old looking AT ALL in the movie.. why?? because they don't cut and do his hair in the ridiculous way they did in the last Bond, and he has better lines! which says it all..lol..:)
I think Brosnan makes a great Bond.. but this said, I don't want to destroy the producers if they choose Craig.
the box office will destroy them! lol
no seriously.. I don't like Craig at all and won't go to see the movie if he's Bond, will wait for DVD, but I don't think it'll be the end of the franchise. Worst that can happen, it'll be a bad movie and he'll only do it once. It's not the end of the world...I wouldn't be happy about it, but it won't be the end of Bond (hopefully!!)

I'd check out the other thread if I were you folks. Goran is Playing 'James Bond'. Craig is playing 'Le Chiffre, Jackman's playing 'Wolf Sing', O'Lachlan is playing 'M', Cavill's playing 'James Bourne', Stewart is playing 'M' and Brosnan's playing Vesper Lynd.

They said nothing new but now that CNN is reporting on the Bond rumors, there is a good chance this could be legit, not that is wasn't before. And for some reason the enterainment reporter thinks that the new Cheif Justice on the United States Supreme Cout, John Roberts, would make a good James Bond. What do you think?

Well. I forgot to post this last night. But Martin Campbell was interviewed on 'Film 2005'. He said that James Bond HAS NOT been cast yet. Also he mentioned that most of the production would be filmed in Prague, and a little in England.

So it's either The 'Maily Dail' (intended misquote) knows more than Mr Campbell. :)
