Expect Norv Turner to get the axe on Monday. Mel Tucker might have the interim label removed in Jacksonville and stay on. I believe Raheem Morris and Steve Spagnola should stay, but Miami will make a move and I think Norv is their choice so he won't be unemployed for long. Andy Reid needs to change some staff in Philly and I believe Tom Coughlin is out unless they win, which would be a shame as he is a heckuva coach.
I can't see Norv getting the job in Miami. Steve Ross wants a marquee name, and Norv's not that guy, at least as a head coach. I could see the new Miami coach wanting Norv as his OC, but he'll have competition for Norv's services as an OC.
Raheem Morris absolutely should be fired. His team has quit on him, and that should always result in the loss of a coach's job.
Hopefully the Jets go after Norv Turner to replace Brian Schottenheimer as the Jets' OC. If Schottenheimer is not fired as the Jets' OC, it will be one of the greatest administrative failures in the history of the NFL. There has never been a more incompetent coordinator wakling the sidelines of an NFL game, and it's time for the Jets to finally make themselves competitive by firing him. According to this article, it seems like the Jets will do just that. My personal opinion would be that, if Rex Ryan fails to fire Brian Schottenheimer, then he should be told to seek employment elsewhere, along with his hand-picked captains Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes.

Well said, Dalton.Another crap season for JETS fans.
I've actually gotten used to it at this point. I expect nothing from those morons anymore. They're a pathetic franchise who consistently hire terrible judges of talent (Tannenbaum's predecessor at GM, Terry Bradway comes to mind), and terrible coaches, who in turn bring in terrible players. The sad thing is that, with Brett Favre or any other quarterback that even ranked as mediocre, the Jets would have won a Super Bowl in the last two years. That's the closes this franchise will ever get probably for the rest of my life. I've accepted now that I'll never see those losers win, or even appear in, a Super Bowl, and once I came to that realization during today's game, I must say it made the loss much easier to take.

Steelers over Broncos
Bengals over Texans
Saints over Lions
Falcons over Giants
If the Broncos or the Texans had won any of their last few games I would have picked them but they've done absolutely nothing the last few weeks and Houston is pretty banged up. If i'm wrong about any of my picks I could see the Giants beating the Falcons.

Welcome back Norv and AJ.
You're not the only one upset by that announcement today. I was hoping to find out today or tomorrow that Norv was not returning to San Diego so that the Jets could then immediately announce the firing of Brian Schottenheimer as OC and the hiring (or at least the intention to try to hire) Norv as the new OC. Instead, Norv is staying in San Diego and the Jets announce that Schottenheimer will be retained as the OC.
The only hope the Jets have now is that apparently Schottenheimer is interviewing at some point this week for the Jaguars head coaching position. Hopefully they decide to continue their pursuit of mediocrity down there and hire Schottenheimer so that the Jets will be forced to upgrade the OC position rather than remaining bewilderingly loyal to a man who has never presided over even a decent offense in New York.
As for the playoffs, my picks for the week:
Bengals over Texans
Saints over Lions
Steelers over Broncos
Falcons over Giants
The AFC is anyone's to win as this is without question the worst AFC playoff field in quite some time, perhaps even over a decade. Even the top-seeded Patriots look very vulnerable, bringing to the table easily the worst defense in the field, and with Baltimore's uncanny ability to play up and down to their opponents, I wouldn't be surprised to see them fall if somehow Denver took out Pittsburgh and then the Ravens played down to a very average Broncos team in the same way they played down to teams like Jacksonville during the regular season.
The NFC is much better, and will probably win the Super Bowl, regardless of which team comes out of the conference. I would give even the Wild Card Lions and Falcons a good chance against the top seeds in the AFC if they were to reach the Super Bowl.

Hey tdalton-the Jags could hire Schotty as their HC!
Eh, probably not. Sorry bud. I know how you feel.
They could. Stranger things have happened. But, you're right in saying that they probably won't. The Jaguars aren't exactly a model franchise in the NFL, but even they're not that dumb.
It's just a shame that Rex Ryan couldn't have arrived in New York one year earlier (or have tried to actually talk Brett Favre into playing one more season). Brett Favre running the offense (even one as lame as Schottenheimer's) with Rex's defense would have yielded a Lombardi Trophy, no doubt about it. It's a shame we've wasted a phenomenal defense (they even ranked #7 this year despite the fact they were in no way supported by the special teams or offense) on Schottenheimer, Sanchez, and Holmes. Yet another missed opportunity leading to yet another massive rebuilding project.

So happy to see Norv coming back. : (
This is terrible news for SD football. Probably good news for the rest of the AFC-W, though. The Chargers are likely to keep spinning in mediocrity until they get a proper skipper for that ship. I really do not understand this decision at all.

I may be an amatuer NFL fan here in Blighty, but I saw the Steelers for the first time last February in the Superbowl and I'm sticking with them as my team - I hope they plow through the play-offs and get to the Superbowl this year.
I bleed black and gold!
Growing up I loved them as well, even had a Terry Bradshaw helmet and everything (Yeah I kinda give out my age here LOL!)! Always nice to hear from a fan across the pond!
Winners:
Steelers (Hard for me b/c I do like the Broncos)
Saints
Falcons (Hard for me b/c I do not like the Falcons)
Bengals
Suggested drinking game: Matt Ryan. Here are the rules:
1) Sip a beer when he is introduced by the broadcasters
2) Chug a beer for every 'Matty Ice' reference
3) Do a tequila shot every time it is mentioned how cool he is under pressure
4) Do a tequila shot & chug a beer every time his record as a starter, or his home starting record is mentioned
5) You'll be passed out midway through the 2nd quarter.

Figures. The ones time I actually root for Pittsburgh, they lose. Maybe I should have tried rooting for them in last year's AFC Championship game. I guess it goes to show that any team I root for is doomed to lose (0-3 on the weekend, rooted for Cincy, Atlanta, and PIttsburgh, didn't really care in the Detroit/New Orleans game).
tdalton, please root for New England next weekend. GO BRONCOS

In all honesty, I doubt I even watch the Broncos/Pats game. I can't stand the Patriots and I have had my fill of Tebowmania for the year.

Just hang in there for one more game, tdalton. Root for the Pats and put some of that Jets-voodoo on Tom Brady. And rest assured, Tebow mania will die down after he wins the SB.

I just can't bring myself to root for the Patriots, no matter how much doing so would result in them losing. I don't really have anything against the Broncos as an organization, or even against Tebow personally, but I just can't stand the adoration that is heaped upon him when it's been totally undeserved all the way up until yesterday.
I just hope that Rexy boy does less talkin' and produce more next season..Sanchez might be on the hot seat too if he doesn't come around.
Sanchez shouldn't be on the hot seat, he should be sent to another team or quit football to become a model, which is what he seems to enjoy doing more than actually working to lead the Jets to the Super Bowl. The quicker the Jets realize they made a mistake in bringing the Ryan/Sanchez combination to New York, the quicker that franchise gets moving forward towards the possibility of becoming a mediocre franchise again.

I'll join you in that dance, Dove. Pure craziness indeed. Hopefully the "good" Broncos show up for the NE game. Anything is possible when you have God on your side! ;-)
tdalton, Tebow has been over-hyped for sure. That's mainly the media's fault. The fans are overzealous because we haven't had anything to celebrate for a long, long time. We spent some dark years with Greise and Plummer, then lost Cutler. We are desperate for a real QB. We might finally have that guy. And the fact that he is a good human being and appears to not want to hurt women could make him a real NFL catch!

I totally understand all of that. I don't think I've clearly expressed my opinion on Tebow, but my main issue with him lies with the media. I don't think he's a bad guy or wish him any bad fortune or anything like that (nor do I do the same for the Broncos, unless of course they're playing the Jets ). If I were a Denver fan, I would be excited too, and the Denver fans deserve to be excited, especially after the recent down seasons the franchise has had.
My sole issue with it is that I tire of the media overhyping him into something he's not. He's not a great QB, IMO, nor has he shown many flashes of the potential to be one. For me, the only time I've seen that potential was on Sunday against the Steelers. But given that the system the Broncos are running around him doesn't call for him to be great, that's perfectly fine, and he's able to win games. But when you have "analysts" (and I use that term loosely) like Skip Bayless (and many others) who proclaim that Tebow is a better fourth quarter QB than Tom Brady (he's not) or that he's amongst the elite at his position, I grow tired of hearing that when my own eyes (as well as those of other knowledgeable analysts) tell me that not only are those statements untrue, they are so far from the truth that they border on obnoxious.
If it seemed like I was outright bashing Tebow, I didn't mean to come across that way, because I think the above statements more accurately represent my opinion on Tebow. And, you're completely right in saying that the NFL could use more people like him. It would be nice if the rest of the QB fraternity in the league (or the entire group of players) were more like him instead of most of the rest of the players at his position, who seem to be either unable to keep themselves out of trouble or who only use the platform of being an NFL player to date an insane number of women when they should be working to justify the absurd amount of money we fork over to them every year.

Not at all bashing, tdalton. I appreciate your rational opinions on the subject. No Tom Brady indeed but maybe the clay to be formed into greatness in the distant future. I am excited by his optimism and leadership on the field. Still a long way to go in many other areas to be sure. We Bronco fans only need a ray of light to get excited. Regardless of all that it is going to be a great playoff and SB season finale. Haven't had such great QBs and offenses facing off since the Elway-Marino era.

I can definitely relate to that, having been there several times myself with the Jets, only to have it come crashing down time and time again. I don't see that happening to Denver, though, not as long as John Fox is at the helm. They'll remain competitive throughout his tenure, I think. Maybe a down year or two here and there, but John Fox has that calm and steady demeanor to him that I don't see him losing the locker room or producing a subpar product in the way the vastly overrated Rex Ryan has done in New York. And, I'd certainly take Tebow over Mark Sanchez any day. At least Tebow prepares himself for the games rather than enjoying the spotlight of New York City when focus should be on trying to get the team to where it needs to be.
BREAKING NEWS:
The New York Jets are set to hire former Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano as offensive coordinator, replacing Brian Schottenheimer, who resigned.

The Jacksonville Jaguars hired former Bills coach, Mike Mularkey to replace Jack Del Rio..hmm.. not a sexy pick by any means, but he does have a track record of turning around bad teams.
