Colts vs. Vikings.

I'm sticking with my original prediction before the playoffs.

I came so very close to getting the full SP ticket in my forecast.

Have to admit this:

I was certain that I heard Gabriel's Horn and saw Jesus descend from Heaven. Why? Becasue the Saints are in the Super Bowl!

How I wish that were so, Eric (GO BRONCOS!!) However, I fear Josh McDaniels has our team headed in the opposite direction..8-8 in '09 to oh I don't know.. 6-10 in '10..well he better do something miraculous in the draft and free agency and his gamble to promote linebacker coach, Don "Wink" Martindale to take over fired Mike Nolan's defensive coordinator position better pay off too. B)

Yeah things are bleak in Denver these days. But hey, misery loves company and the Chargers are unraveling over here. It's amazing all the negative stuff going on. A 6-10 finish in '10 might at least put us in the running for top of the AFC W if the wheels come off San Diego.

Just looking for a silver lining anywhere I can...

I don't see the wheels completely falling off San Diego. I doubt that they'll finish with a 13-3 record again, as that's a mark that few franchises this side of the Colts and Patriots are able to achieve on a consistent basis, but I do think that they'll make a return trip to the playoffs next year as the West champion. Their only competition is the Broncos, and given the direction McDaniels has them on, it doesn't seem likely that they'll be able to pull together and pull off that upset (unless Pat Bowlen makes the smartest move of his ownership and makes a coaching change right now, which could only help the situation out there).

Just don't see these Colts losing a game that they actually try to win. Then again, I said the same thing of the Patriots two years ago.

I hope that the Saints really take it to the Colts, and by really take it to them, I mean an over by halftime type of taking it to them.

Still, a more realistic prediction (and one that Colts fans will no doubt love considering my track record so far this postseason):

Saints: 38
Colts: 31

Colts 35
Saints 21

I think that the Saints will have a very easy time putting up more than 21 points. If the Jets pathetic offense could put up 17-points on the Colts, then surely one of the most high-octane offenses in the entire league can improve upon that by more than 4 points.

Still calling the Saints on this one. The game has good chance of being decently close, but in the end the Saints'll come out the victor.

I predict the Saints will win. They deserve to take home the trophy this year. They're a better team than the Colts.

Go N.O.!

Should be a high-scoring game. I am going with Indy but have no skin in the game one way or the other.

All of that offense, but this game was defined by an onside kick and a pick-6...gotta love it! B)

Congratulations Saints!

Congratulations to the Saints.

It was made even better by the game being decided on Peyton Manning's interception. That play was the highlight of my NFL season.

At least the game was good. The music was terrible through and through. Both pre-kickoff performances as well as the halftime show were the worst we've had in a while.

And then the Saints go marching in! Well, there are most definitely not the Aints any more. Congratulations to New Orleans. They played a great game. No doubt Mardi Gras will be extra special this year.

As a Jets fan, I wish that they had had a chance to get to Miami to get destroyed by the Saints (although, based on the way the game unfolded, I actually think the Jets would have given the Saints a better game than the Colts did), but unfortunately that wasn't the case.

Ok..before I get to the Super Bowl, gotta say this:

CONGRATULATIONS to former Broncos RB Floyd Little (1967-1975) for FINALLY being elected to the Hall of Fame! He's waited a LONG time for it, and to go in with the same class as Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith, that makes it extra special!!

Now then to the Super Bowl..

hcmv, I humbly bow myself to you.. your New Orleans Saints are AWESOME!! Wow!! What a game!! Gutsy move by Sean Payton to onside kick at the opening of the second half, and the terrific replay challenge which clearly showed Moore's 2-point conversion was good, shows that the coaching staff was really on top of their game..

Drew Brees...is it any surprise he was the MVP after such an awesome performance??

Let the party on Bourbon Street continue..oh no doubt that it is..

In terms of ranking this Super Bowl amongst past ones, this was about as exciting and thrilling as when my Broncos beat the Packers in SB XXXII.. B)

Huge doesn't begin to describe the Saints victory last night. They looked (in the 2nd half) like a team that simply would not be denied. I remember when Denver won their first SB and there is no feeling like it for a long time fan. Enjoy, Saints.

Anybody sick of the Manning hype this week? Heck, I bet he is more sick of it than anybody. He is a great QB and no doubt will own (most of? all?) the statistical categories when he retires. I also like him as a down to earth player and serious student of the game. But recently journalists and pundits started commonly lumping him in with Johnny U and the other greats.

Do people have that short a memory? At this point in his career I wouldn't mention Manning's name in the same breath as Elway, Unitas, Montana, Tarkenton, Young, Favre, Fouts. He has a lot of work to do join the warrior elite--guys that not only made jaw-dropping throws but led and inspired their respective teams to new heights.

In terms of ranking this Super Bowl amongst past ones, this was about as exciting and thrilling as when my Broncos beat the Packers in SB XXXII.

XXXII was the greatest Super Bowl ever. If memory serves the Broncos were 14-point underdogs.

That game also contains my favorite football moment of all time:
John Elway taking off on a long run and getting windmilled in the air by a Green Bay player. Sometimes teams get that light about them and you can just tell that they will not be denied.

Indeed Eric... I got the sense the Saints were nervous and uptight (i,e, Henderson's dropped passes) at the beginning when the Colts went up 10-0, but when they were able to score two field goals and Matt Stover missed that 51 yarder for Indy, New Orleans could sense a momentum shift and started to relax and have fun.
