(Be sure to listen to Sydney Pollack's commentary as well. It's pretty good and informative stuff.)

Ah, Watchmen. I thought it was terrible, and highly confusing. One of my friends told me to read the graphic novel then watch it. I shouldn't have to. I should be able to go and watch a movie and completely understand it. Without having to read the whole thing.
Tru dat. In this case you really didn't have to. The film followed the novel by the page with the exception of the ending.
My next purchase will be Avatar, but I'm waiting for the version with special features...

Delighted you're taking the YAKUZA challenge, Harms. I'm confident that you'll enjoy it tremendously, for various reasons and on various levels, and indeed I suspect that it may become a firm favourite. It's a film I'd be more than happy to purchase again, in the rather unlikely event that it ever makes it to Blu-ray.

Interesting bits of trivia here, if there's any truth to 'em:
Lee Marvin was scheduled to star in The Yakuza with Robert Aldrich to direct. When Mitchum replaced Marvin, Mitchum forced out Aldrich. Replacement director Pollack briefly considered Robert Redford for the lead role.
Lee Marvin's the only actor I could have accepted in Mitchum's stead.

I caught the first half of it at my girlfriends house. I was too tired to watch the 2nd half. I really enjoyed it though, and it was on a 3 for £10 offer, so..

I'm excited to have ordered Season 1 of The Equalizer. Especially so since no one here could verify the exact wording of McCall's ad.
"Got a PRoblem?
Odds Against You?
Need Help?
Call The Equalizer
555-something"

This marks the fourth time I have bought this nostalgic favorite of mine. The bare bones DVD, the UK Silver Anniversary Edition DVD (with the wonderful Brian Blessed commemntary) and the Savior of the Universe Edition three years ago.

Have just ordered 24 Season 1--the only one I missed.
Great season. I just finished watching Day 2 today, one of the strongest seasons, personally. That's what I love about 24, every season is just so solid. In my eyes, there isn't a bad one.
