I got the Star Trek on Blu Ray. That is a good price on the Bond set on Blu, but I already have all the movies on Blu.

Secretagentfan,
IF you have a hig def TV and can afford a Blu Ray player (lately I have seen them as low as $89, but I also recommend the Panasonic BD60 for $125.00 on Amazon) you will not be sorry for the upgrade. Night and day difference from DVD.

I have a Panasonic BD60 as well. Sure it takes a while to load up a disc, but man, I've had not one problem with it.

I can't connect to the internet with it though, which worries me as there'll be some BD Disc that'll cause my player to be upgraded.

I've got the Panasonic BD35 and found I have only had to do one upgrade, involved downloading the upgrade from the Panasonic site onto a disc and loading into the player, it read the disc and upgraded the software and since them everything has played fine.

I admit the loading can take it's time and some films have to be loaded twice, I remember after I got the GF box set it wouldn't play GF 1 for some reason but it's settled down now and despite the long load time it's been fine and I agree the difference between DVD and Blu Ray is more than significant.

I watched the Descent this afternoon and it was so sharp, a stark improvement on the standard def disc.

Please Fincher I want the same treatment on Se7en as you've given Fight Club, I've only flicked through it so far but it looks stunning and the sound is awesome.

The load time on my BD60 is MUCH faster than my old Samsung 1400 BluRay machine. Mharkin, have you done a firmware update? I did one right away after I bought the machine and load time is pretty quick.

I don't really have a problem with the load time. Mine only takes, 20 seconds, at least. It's not as if I'm waiting for hours. Nahhh, I'd rather not mess with it, if you get what I mean.

It does the job, so I'll just let it get on. B)

Same here. The load times for DVD's are pretty fast and Blu-rays may take longer but the Blu-ray of 2001: A Space Odyssey I just bought loaded up pretty quickly.

Here's the Blu-ray's I just purchased:

The Prisoner: The Complete Series

A must have for any fans of this classic British TV series and I was pretty shocked at how good this looked compared to the previous A&E DVD release which was barely watchable. If only I lived in the U.K. where the Network version was released.

The X-Files: Fight the Future

Being a huge X-Files fan I had to get this movie since its the best of the two X-files films and the new transfer is only available on this Blu-ray which pretty much blows the DVD out of the water even though I would not call it a great Blu-ray transfer.

2001: A Space Odyssey

My favorite film from my favorite director and I knew I had to get this on Blu-ray because its a very visual film. No surprise then that its pretty much demo quality for how a Blu-ray should blow you away by the amazing detail and clarity. Plus, I got this for under $10 off Amazon.com.

I think 20 seconds is pretty normal. My old Samsung would take a few minutes to load so by comparison my new Panasonic is very quick.
