Rented 'Shaolin Soccer' and 'The Day after Tommorow' tonight. SS is fantastic! :) :)

TDAT is so stupid and implausible despite awesome effects. What a wasted opportunity to make a statement about environmental issues by making such a proposterous film. :)

I dont think that TDAT was bad at all. I watched it in school today, It wasn't that bad as people say it out to be. I recently picked up The Italian Job on DVD, and I want Bad Boys II.

Hey, Athena, I see from your sig you're a LOST IN TRANSLATION fan. Wonderful film. :)

Last DVD I bought was NIXON. I intend to add FAHRENHEIT 9/11 to my collection next week, and will buy the fifth season of "The Sopranos" and THE BOURNE SUPREMACY when they hit shops in the UK. Might get the extended version of THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING, too.

''Northfork''. An underrated little fantasy by the Polish brothers that features the best work either James Woods or Nick Nolte have done in years. Picked up ''Naked Lunch'' at the same time. The Region 2 version is a lot lighter in extras than the Criterion edition but I'm just grateful that it's finally been released on disk over here.

I love the joke in the Simpsons as Bart and Mihouse walk out of a screening of Naked Lunch. Bart to Milhouse: "I can see too problems with the title of that movie".

I grabbed the Friday the 13th box set and volume 1 of Laugh-In yesterday. There's a contrast in tastes if there ever was one! :)

I treated my son Alexander to the original Star Trek Series Boxset!.

After I've watched all 39 episodes I'll let him have it!. :) :)

I love this series but the DVD treatment almost gives it an amateur touch because the sound is way too clear, and the rocks etc on the visited planets really look fake. (Lost in Space over a year earlier got it right with these properties).

There's still a lot of 'grain' in some scenes [especially the customary footage of the Enterprise] but for a series that's almost 40 years old it looks really good.

Who would of believe that 'Scottie' is really an American?. :)

Live long and prosper ",

Cheers,

Ian

Last ones I bought were Alias Season 1 and 2.

Saving for Buffy Season 6 now. :)

Or maybe I'd better wait until Alias Season 3 hits the Netherlands.

Hmm. :)

The Day After Tomorrow

I thought it was pretty fun to watch, and I guess it's bad I cheered when LA and NY got destroyed. :) But I guess technically I'd have been dead here in Pennsylvania too. :)

I thought I'd start this Topic as I havn't seen one one the forums. Simply post the DVD's you've bought today or your latest purchase. Today I bought Peter Gunn (1989) Starring Peter Strauss. It's the 1989 TV movie of the 1958 T.V series (of the same name) Starring Craig Stevens. If I'm correct the Theme Tune for the T.V series (written by Henri Mancini) is heard in the "Spy Hunter" computer games, and the "Blues Brothers" movies, though I'm not sure if it did feature in the "Blues Brothers" movies.
