It's one of those films you should really try to catch on the big screen. In theory that's true of all films, but I'd almost go as far as to say that an epic like LAWRENCE should only be seen in a cinema. Not even widescreen DVD does it justice, and as for pan-and-scan VHS, fuggedaboutit.

Most recent for me would be Bullitt, great Method film, and a superb car chase. Typical sixties flick with a cool score by Lalo Schifrin, before that was the Portishead DVD Live In Roseland NYC. Wish I could have been there. Strange combination of films though....

What did you think of Evelyn, Jordan?

I thought it was excellent. I tend to be biased towards Pierce sometimes, though. I did buy the soundtrack a few days later, as well.

Ah, now this is something I'm quite excited about. A niche theatre in Melbourne is going be showing a brand new print of Lawrence in 70mm digital sound next month, and I can't wait to see it on the big screen!

DVDs are cool, everyone knows that. And DVD buying's addictive, for sure.
Which DVD's have you bought lately?

I was in HMV the other day and scooped up "The Goonies" and "Donnie Darko".

I only bought "The Goonies" because it was supposedly the full length version with the Octopus scene - however, this wasn't featured in the actual film, but only in the special features.

I didn't notice anything else with the film itself that was missing from what I've seen of the film before? Did I miss what the "full version" was all about?

hmmm.. the last few dvd's that I've bought were The Bourne Identity, The Simpsons season 4, and M*A*S*H season six. By the way Dave, I've only seen the full length version of The Goonies on television a couple of times when they've included the deleted scenes i.e the octopuss and the snack shop scene. Too bad the DVD doesn't have a version of the movie where you can watch it all uncut and not have to just rely on the Special Features section.

Very, very good show. Julian McMahon is tremendous as Dr. Christian Troy, and Dylan Walsh is equally good. Lots of sex, lots of violence, lots of story. Like James Bond for the TV, minus the spyness of it.

I highly recommend it.

Last one I bought was Get Smart Again, but I received an X-Files prize pack in the mail on Monday that I'd won earlier in the year; within that is the Region One Season Nine DVD collection.
