I've never understood the critque that Connery seems bored or the characters were lame?? This was always a good picture. It has all the elements; Laser watch, exotic locations, super-motorcycle, sharks, rocket packs, and dramatic sets. It was just the music and editing that made this a sub-par feature.
NSNA E.C. is now Bond 21 in my books.

Actually, I liked Kim Basinger in "Never Say Never," but I would've like to have seen more of Fatima Blush.

In addition to making NSNA much more of a "Bond" movie with his very clever additions of music (and it's a wide variety, covering I think all the EON Bond scores + other pieces), he's also done some very smooth re-edits of scenes to make the pace of the film that much faster.
Now when you see Connery doing his stuff, accompanied to Bondian themes, even the 007 theme at the end shoot out(!), it's almost the movie it could've been. A 4 star effort by a Bond Fan extradordinare!!
Check it out. If you love Connery - it's a can't miss!!!

a few suggestions I've contributed for a new edit is a insert of the exterior of Universal Exports before the briefing with M. Also, use the Barry piece "Kara Meets Bond" for the underscoring of Bond and Domino's scenes together. Also, I suggested that the music during the video-game scene either be augmented or removed completley, something about it seems sort of out of place but not totally wrong. Also, I suggest "Never say never again" be played during the end-credits. My feeling being, it is the name of the film after all and it's not used one time, and at the end of the movie Bond says "never again"...what better piece to use?? Lastly if Barry music is to be used, he should still keep the motorcycle chase music! That, for me, was the centerpiece of the project!
Anywhow, just my idea's but I don't want to step on his toe's, it's his baby. And the new edit is pure speculative at this time.

Also, have any more special bonuses been added to the members only section?

Apparently there is another edit of this film in the works. This edit will apparently cast off most non-John Barry music que's in accordance that John Barry's music is most identified with the Connery-era.

I don't know if you're referring to me but I've been working on one during my free time, which means I've got a lot to do yet (maybe if I get a break during the holidays). I've shot most of the elements for the main titles. I plan to use "MKKBB" performed by Dione Warwick. I am not using any music previously used in other Bond films, but the entire score is John Barry from other lesser known films, many of which use very similar Bond theme-like cues. I have found that they remarkably match up with the on-screen action, surpassing my expectations. The Bond theme and 007 theme are from orchestral recordings conducted by Barry and not used in any previous Bond film, including the gun barrel theme. The ONLY thing I've added there is the distinctive guitar element, which was used in all of Connery's gunbarrels between FRWL and DAF, I feel that's something of his signature. And Barry never used that guitar for any other Bond than Connery, even though others did. The gunbarrel has been digitally cleaned up, I'm pretty sure I posted that up here a while ago.
Remember Nigel Smallfoot? He's gone....which is only tricky at the end, but he had to go. If I was making a new edit of FYEO, the same thing would happen to Bibi and Thatcher. Some additional sound effects and minor visual effects are added. I hate that NSNA song too much to use it. I performed a complete Michel Legrandectomy on the film, and the patient has never felt better. "Octopussy" didn't have a title song that incorporated the title into the lyrics (would have been interesting though). I've also been thinking about some establishing shot of MI6. What came to mind was the exterior of the Ministry of Defense building from FYEO. But I really don't want to use footage from any other film. I still have to see Blofeld's Cat's version, but I'm waiting until after I am done with mine. Plus I plan to burn a DVD-9 to maximize the bitrate. The rip I did of NSNA is remarkably clean. For the hell of it, I had a female co-worker with a deep voice say "welcome to Never Say Never Again special edition dvd. Please activate your navigation system now." But I have no intention of making any "special edition dvd".
End credits will be done with a new crawl. Red is the worst color you can choose for credits (note to D. Kleinman re: DAD) particularly when consumer video is your end media.

Sorry mate, your project was not the one I was referring to, but yours sounds equally interesting! The one I mentioned was the from the same editor of "Never say McClory Again", I've had some discussion with him and he discussed in brief the idea of another more "Connery-era" score/edit. I own the current edition of the project and I think it's definitley superior than the one released into theatres!
I recomend anyone who is a fan of Connery to pick this up. It finally gives hime the sort of swan song he deserves. I've always thought as Never Say Never Again as a "elseworlds" story where Bond does finally grow old and retire and this movie could serve as one way to end the entire franchise. Even if it's unofficial.
Back on to you're project. It seems like a very neat idea using lesser heard Barry recordings. It'll give the movie less distraction if you've never heard the music before. I'm already interested to see the project, do you have a teaser-clip put together? But I must recomend you view the current edit, you'll find it quite entertaining.

Is the NSNA song on the end credits? I feel it should be.
Also, the precredits sequence ends with 007 being stabbed and the shot after the main credits is of the SPECTRE meeting scene. What happened to 007's initial meeting with M and Tanner?

Eon ought to take the idea and officially release NSNA rescored. This was a fantastic idea and it works wonderfully.
One thing though - I find that I am paying more attention to the music "what is the movie this song is from" than I am the movie.
Clearly, though, this is a masterful job and frankly, every hardcore Bond fan should own this.

EON should really look into adapting this edit into wide release.

I just stumbled on to this particular thread and have viewed all of your NSNA:SE clips and I was extremely impressed with this monumental project you undertook. Jolly good show! My only regret is that there wasn't room for that 'John Barry only' music soundtrack. I'm afraid that I really can't tolerate any of the cues from George Martin or Marvin Hamlisch. But not to worry -- you'll be hearing from me in the near future. Thank you so much for improving one of my favorite Bond flicks!

Donovan :
I need to thank you as well for your own NSNA:SE project. I'm looking forward to your own grafting of a John Barry score onto this particular 007 flick. I'm also very glad to hear that you're removing that irritating Nigel dude -- good-bye Mr. Bean!

Please keep in touch, Donovan.
