Announcing the DVD release of the infamous, "Never Say McClory Again - the Eonising of a renegade 007 film" project.
The single-layered (4.7Gb) disc comes with a rudimentary menu structure and is fully chaptered for easier access.
In addition to the re-edited soundtrack, the disc also contains an isolated music track and an isolated dialogue and effects track (as an aid to those who might wish to produce their own version with their preferred passages of music).
Copies of the disc can be had in return for a donation to the upkeep of my website.

cheers.

How how have you handled the title sequence in your version? Do you have an original title sequence following the pre-titles sequence?

Quick Q, Blofelds Cat -
How how have you handled the title sequence in your version? Do you have an original title sequence following the pre-titles sequence?
It goes:
Gunbarrel - pre-titles sequence - main titles - body of film.
The main titles are adapted from the Thunderball titles (but not using the Thunderball song). I was hoping to have original titles but it was proving problematic.
The film runs 133 minutes and uses fifty-eight (58) pieces of music drawn from the existing James Bond soundtrack catalogue.
No scene has been cut out altogether but a few have been trimmed for reasons of pacing.
The bad news is that I couldn't remove Kim Basinger from the film.
Next project is to replace music from all EON James Bond films with music from 'Never Say Never Again'. A pointless and fruitless exercise but I feel I owe it to DLibraSnow as recompense for all the anguish my 'Never Say McClory Again' project has caused.

Yes, Kim Basinger is a problem I do have with this otherwise flawlessly executed Bond movie.

Anyway, I'll definitely be donating. I love NSNA as it is but I'd love to own this version.
Is there any cover art you can put up for us to download?
EDIT: Just donated, can't wait to see it!

You've finished it already? It was only a few weeks ago that I was watching the clips on your site.

The webclips were conspicuous samplings of the larger project, which I've been sporadically working on over the last three years. It's only been in the last few months that I have gotten off my backside and put the finishing touches to the project.
Thanks for the donation. Your disc should be in the mail on Wednesday June 8.
With regard to the cover art, there was a chap who volunteered to do a sleeve for me but despite an initial flurry of emails and designs, he has since disappeared into the ether. But I'm working on an alternative.
cheers.

I hate to be the voice of reason here but, couldn't Blofelds Cat get in trouble for selling this?
I'm not actually selling it. I have merely created a private fan project for my own enjoyment. As a token of gratitude to anyone who makes a donation to my website, I will send a copy of the dvd as a thankyou.
Of course if MGM or EON demand that I cease and desist fan-level distribution, I shall of course comply.

Am I the only one to think this is just a bastardisation? I've viewed a few of the clips on the site and I have to say it's really quite bad. Don't get me wrong, technically the project is impressive, but from a music point of view using multiple scores (that span such a range of styles) on one film just results in a stylistic mess.
No, you're not the only one to think that this project is bastardisation - for that is exactly what it is.
However I would disagree that it is a stylistic mess. Each piece of music was chosen for it's ability to complement the underscored scene and the (carefully) chosen pieces achieves that end.
The intent was to 'familiarise' an estranged film through the use of established 007 music. The use of "London Calling" in Die Another Day was an inverted example of this ethos.
It's my opinion that Bond music should not be perceived as tunes that are locked to a single film but as a pool of individual cues that can be adapted for use in an appropriate unconnected sequence - much in the same way that people use popular song and music tracks in their wedding or holiday vids.
The project has its own style but it is definitely not a mess.

I'm not expecting it to be all that coherent, but quite an interesting piece. The bits on the website are pretty fun.

You've got it in the right perspective, Mark. It was great fun to put together and from all the feedback I've received over the years, it IS a lot of fun to watch. The experience is even better when watched on a full size TV with the sound going through an amplifier.

Perhaps you should better emphasise that this DVD is in PAL format and thus not made for most US televisions. I myself have a way to watch PAL formatted DVDs but many may not. Although I must say I haven

Well exactly- it's not as if you're suggesting that it's this easy to score films- otherwise the Broccolis would just be sticking old John Barry on behind Pierce!
