I guess, on reflection, that I don't care if the actor's twelve as long as he looks as mature as Connery did in Dr No or Lazenby in OHMSS.

Thing is... what and where is this "List"? Are we talking about the monstrous rumors that are all over the internet and in the "news"? That's not a list. That's all PR people. The only thing that's been out there in the "tabloid media" that even has any smidgen of truth to it is that Nip/Tuck's Julian McMahon did have a meeting with some influential Bond #6 choosers. That is IT. I'm sick of all that stupid rumors out there. They're not true, period.
Well, there must be a list of some sort. What, you mean EON hasn't any list and just finds names randomly? MG Wilson - "Hey, Babs, how about that bloke in that pub we saw, he looks the part."
There has to be a list of candidates even if the list is vague and without a specific favourite for the role.

By the way, this guy is the only person off-hand I think could fit the younger Bond mould:
Matthew Marsden

No offence to the guy, but he's not actually a big star so would seem ideal for EON. He's not a bad actor - competent enough.
But that old fogey is 32.

Here's how the pts will go:
Bond sneaks past the ushers at the casino. He sneaks up to the baccaratt table and sits down across from a young man named Le Chiffre. Bond orders a grape juice box and then inquires about how the game is played. Then security catches him, realizing that he's not of legal age, and then an action scene ensues as Bond tries to escape casino security. Fades into title sequence with song performed by Hilary Duff.
Just kidding, I hope

No way will they rip off INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE. They'd have more class than that. Wouldn't they?
You must be joking. We know how much Eon like their homages, and I predict CR to be one big fat homage to the origin stories from Indy 3, The Saint, Superman, Batman Begins ... not sure if that's a bad thing, though.

And yes, I'm well aware how that sounds. The things one finds oneself doing while waiting for the new Bond actor to be announced.
Could it be that this has been deliberately leaked because Babs knows Pierce reads the internet boards, and that it's designed to convince him that they're planning to replace him with a 14-year-old, thereby stoking up his anger and bringing his salary negotiations down a peg? After all, Dame Judi *did* say that Pierce would be back for another, and she would know.
As long as they don't forget the humour and sense of fun that films like THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN brought to the series, I'll be happy. They really lost that at AVTAK, I think. So as long as they keep that, but at the same time go really dark and gritty and stay true to Fleming, I'm fine.
For five points, who do I sound like?

Have just found this, I hope not many have seen this before.
James Bond walks into a bar...
A very confident James Bond walks into the English bar and takes a seat next
to a very attractive woman. He gives her a quick glance, then casually looks
at his watch for a moment.
The woman notices this and asks, "Is your date running late?"
"No," he replies, "Q has just given me this state-of-the-art watch. I was
just testing it."
The intrigued woman says, "A state-of-the-art watch? What's so special
about it?"
Bond explains, " It uses alpha waves to talk to me telepathically."
The lady says, "What's it telling you now?"
"Well, it says you're not wearing any panties..."
The woman giggles and replies, "Well it must be broken because I'm wearing
panties!"
Bond smirks, taps his watch and says, "Bloody thing's an hour fast."

Show me anything in the books or films where he actually assassinates someone.
Attempts to assassinate Kara (the sniper) in TLD.
Wasn't TMWTGG about Bond assassinating Scaramanga before he got Bond? I believe so.
Bond is licenced to kill which makes him an assassin. He is licenced to kill people for political or idealogical reasons and can be classified as an assassin. Octopussy refers to Bond as a paid assassin in Octopussy (the film).

The closest examples I can think of (in the films) are....
Brosnan and Jinx about to snipe off Graves before they lose sight of him as he boards the Antonov in DAD.
Dalton making a half hearted attempt to assasinate Kara in the beggining of TLD and him trying to assasinate Sanchez in LTK before being interupted.

Yes, I'd agree that Bond is an assassin. Not everyone would, though.

I'm surprised people are so surprised by this. We've known for a while CR is an origin story, so obviously the new Bond is going to be young.
True, but then it's staring us in the face that Clive Owen is by far the best choice for the role and the natural successor to Brosnan!
And if it isn't going to be Owen, surely Daniel Craig is perfect for Fleming's Bond!
Or if Craig isn't an option, don't forget that Hugh Jackman has a big following among Bond fans!
What? You mean posts on Bond fansites don't wield influence at Eon?

I'd rather it not be an origin story and it doesn't make sense anyway. Why the hell would they hire Judi Dench if this was the case? That makes no sense unless they pull an Indiana Jones....

53 can be as bad as 52
It's the loneliest number if you wanna be Bond (like Pierce)
Waiting is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes, it's the saddest experience if Pierce isn't Bond
(WOW, sorry about that

I think he was recruited for the secret service at 17 (1937)
didn't start real work in the service until 1946 or 1949
think he became a double-oh in 1950 (Casino Royale takes place in 1951 according to Fleming's Goldfinger novel (Bond is 31)

For those of you that know about this, at what age did Bond get out of college, at what age did he get out of the navy, and what age did he become a spy? 22 seems a little young to me.
Maybe the film will be a recount of a road trip that Bond and his buddies took one weekend where they ended up sneaking into the Casino Royale and somehow found themselves playing in a high stakes card game against a mysterious college fratboy named Le Chiffre. Maybe we'll find out how Bond came to love the vodka martini, shaken not stirred.
Another thing, how about the ID check at the door for the casino. "We're sorry, Mr. Bond, but you're too young to enter the casino."
Bond: "But I have to go in there and bankrupt this guy named Le Chiffre."
Usher: "You think you're some sort of spy or something?"
Bond: "Yeah. I got this special spy decoder ring and everything!"

We need to start some type of petition against this. I don't think any true Bond fan wants to see our loved spy turn into this:
http://www.kinopolis...ntcodybanks.jpg
I can see it now:
James Bond: Frankie Muniz
Vesper Lynd: Hilary Duff
Le Chiffre: Haley Joel Osment
Felix Leiter: Keiran Culkin
M: Jessica Simpson
Bond and Le Chiffre face off at high stakes game of "Go-fish" in their tree house fort/casino while the fate of the world hangs in the balance.
Seriously, though, something needs to be done to put a stop to this. This makes even a return of Pierce Brosnan look like a good idea. Wait, maybe that's the point of this.
