Here's the trailer.

http://www.apple.com...ny_english.html

I've not seen Atkinson in much but he was hilarious in Rat Race. According to Dark Horizons, the movie comes out just in time (the day before) for my birthday (March 14th). I'm looking foward to it.

I'm not too familiar with Mr. Bean, although I did see the trailer and must say it does look quite clever. I'm always interested in seeing Bond spoofs, and this does look quite good. Something to look forward to.

Well, since Purvis and Wade can't write good one-liners to save their lives I'm not very optomistic about this. If it's supposed to be funny, and the writers can't write funny lines, that sounds like a recipe for disaster (unless someone else polished up the script...)

I got the thrust of it....

Puh-leeeeze.

I think I broke her heart.

Ouch.

Do I need to go on?

If they can write good comedy, DAD's humor isn't a good example.

I watched the trailer for this earlier, and I am most looking forward to seeing it.

I am great fan of Rowan and I admire his comedy. I especially liked his role in "Rat Race" and his Blackadder series.

I know I will be laughing my head off!^_^

Considering the rule that the best parts of a movie make it into a trailer, I am not very excited about "Johnny English."

I have been fooled by the trailer before. I thought that "The 13th Warrior" looked really cool when I saw the trailer. The movie was even directed by JOHN McTIERNAN..

Then I saw the movie and it totally sucked.

I think the last 2 Bond movies have had some good one liners in.

"See you back at the lodge" in the world is not enough
"I'm only here for the birds" in Die another Day
"saved by the bell" in Die Another Day

and there was many other good one liners in the movies I just don't think there was as many.

I just got "The Bourne Identity" on DVD and the trailer for "Johnny English" was on it. I think the film looks pretty good.

I think "Johnny English" will flop. I watched the DVD for "The Bourne Identity" with a bunch of friends and after the "Johnny English" trailer played one of the guys said "Well, that will be one to miss."
I have to agree with him, the movie looks pathetic and completely unfunny.

Saw it yesterday and loved it :) Why haven't Purvis and Wade done such a good job on Die Another Day? :)

That's a good question . One should ask Barbara Broccoli and Michael G.Wilson why.

I think the question is...are Pervis and Wade James Bond fans, or just two writers paid very well to get a job done.

I suspect the latter.

Xenobia interesting point . In interviews both Purvis and Wade claim that both are in fact James Bond fans .

Claiming is one thing Kevin...I'd like to see them do battle with some members of CBN when it comes to Bond trivia.

This may sound stupid . But i never understood how Purvis and Wade became the Bond Screenwriters of choice . Especially after Michael France and Bruce Feirstein .

If it's stupid then that makes both of us, because I keep asking the same question. For a writing team who have been together as long as they have their pre-Bond credits are pretty sparse and uninspiring. We all appreciate screenwriting is a tough gig, but these guys have been associated with turkeys like 'The Puppet Masters' and 'American Werewolf in Paris' for goodness sake!
So having hired them, why do EON insist on inviting them back? Are we honestly to believe the producers of the worlds most famous movie franchise don't have a deeper pool of writing talent to draw from? :)

Am I the only Purvis and Wade fan out there?

Sure, some of the Die Another Day dialogue was abysmal, but an equal share of it was great. And the stories for the last two Bond films have been a couple of my favourites.

By-the-by... saw Johnny English yesterday and loved it. :)

I saw it Saturday following a spectacularly bad review for it on Radio 1 (UK) - I loved it too.

Aside from the humour, some of the action scenes were genuinely exciting too. To wit, the car chase with the AM on the transporter. Lovely scene shooting the camera...

But would a brain full of Bond trivia make anyone write a better script?

PS> Saw Johnny English and thought it was disappointing.

What Do You Think Of Robbie Williams Theme Song From "Johnny English"?

I Thought it was great and i now think he SHOULD be a possible contender to do the theme song for BOND 21.:)

I think a head full of Bond trivia would make you a better writer because you have a sense of history for the man, and for the film legacy. I think that can only help the writers.

Besides, if you are a fan, you are not going to settle for a script that is mostly good but has a few abysmal moments. You will do everything you can to make sure that script is perfect, so you will know that you and your posse of Bond fans will love the movie for years to come.

It's called "A Man for all Seasons".

I think it's great. As a Bond fan, Williams'd be good choice for Bond 21.

I think I have to support [dark]. I really appreciate the jobs of Purvis & Wade on The World is not Enough, the best Brosnan Bond imho. I didn't like Feirstine at all, his scripts were too action loaded. As for Die Another Day, P&W couldn't reprise their good job they did on The World is not Enough. And for Bond 21 I'd really like to see our Zen to write it :)

P.S. - I still love Johnny English, especially the AM Chase :)

how purvis and wade could write a funny script for johnny english, yet write extremely unfunny lines for DAD is unbelivable. johnny english shows that the can do a good job, they must not be trying enough for bond.
