You can have neighborhood SW showings in 10 years and charge a fortune! That VHS set will be worth a killing!I know one thing...I am keeping my copies of the original trilogy (pre-1997 Special Editions) in a safe place.

Jabba was not in STAR WARS, nor in human form.I can't imagine watching the STAR WARS TRILOGY before '97. Who wants to see Jabba as a human in A NEW HOPE and then as a slug in RETURN OF THE JEDI?
Or the fuzzy crap under Luke's speeder?
I always assumed it was heat from the speeder's emissions, much like cars on a really hot day.
You really should watch the Original versions, they aren't the garbage you think they are.

Perhaps he has him confused with Greedo, even though he wasn't human. As a human in A New Hope?
...as a human?
I'm confused.

there are a few very cool shots that are added to the new editions but most are totally unneccessary and distracting. The joy of older SW movies is watching the magic unfold with limited resources;SW is great because of the ingenuity of a young film maker with enormous creativity who achieved unimaginable results with modest means. Now, that we have CGI and money to burn and almost none of the new effects are as captivating...it just looks fake for the most part and cartoonish. Some of the vistas of the planets are awesome but for the most part, I'd rather have seen an 80's era produced prequel trilogy. Just me...

Bah, silly Lucas.I just watched the feature before the '97 A NEW HOPE Special Edition today! George Lucas said he replaced the human Jabba with the slug Jabba so that the trilogy would be consistant.

George Lucas said he replaced the human Jabba with the slug Jabba so that the trilogy would be consistant.

Well if they're his films, it's most definitely his choice. If it aint broke, don't fix it G-Lu!
I think they're fine as they are.

If I remember correctly, that list turned out be complete fan boy speculation. There isn't any Yoda in ANH, no senate dissolution scene, no completely redone Obi Wan / Vader duel complete with Duel of the Fates, and I don't think there's any Vader goes to Palpatine ending. Nothing anywhere near that drastic in any of the 3 films. Lucas has touched up his films, but they're just a few touches up here and there on the Special Editions - and most of the corrections are on SFX rather than anything else. This is the definitive list of the rumoured changes that I have seen:

While it's more than likely that it was Photoshopped, there are pictures of a Hayden Christansen being, at the end of ROTJ.

To all who say "he can do whatever he wants with them..."
Just because you "can" do something doesn't mean you should. If you bought an original Van Gogh and decided to "update" it with some additional painting of your own, you would own it and it would certainly be your right to do that. You wouldn't be surprised at all if people got upset about it.
Not only does GL have a right to do whatever he wants with his films, all of his fans have a right to say whatever they want about him. IMO he is pretty egotistical to think he can make the originals better when they were already beloved by millions.

And the thing is that he's basically trying to convince us that we are wrong and don't know better. How can he tell us what to think?IMO he is pretty egotistical to think he can make the originals better when they were already beloved by millions.

I guess he must think it a truly fantastic idea to do so though.

The problem with how Lucas works is that there's never a definitive vision in his mind where he's happy enough to let things be, step back, and say "It's done."Well if he has the power to...

Maybe, he'll finally do that soon after he's done with completing the series. The problem with how Lucas works is that there's never a definitive vision in his mind where he's happy enough to let things be, step back, and say "It's done."
