I thought Bana was great in TROY, but he sucked in the HULK.

He looked like a great Bond in TROY

He is hardly recognizable from his appearance in THE HULK

He looks like a boring TV star in that shot there. Hardly Bond styled.

I know how he looks there, just judging from the dismal Hulk though.

well i can say for me if bana WERE to become bond i would swear off all bond films until he left the role

        trust me on that

Gee whiz, NOW there's a suprise...

You've been threatening to walk away from the Bond series ever since the first rumblings broke out about your beloved Brozzie not coming back. You haven't been happy with nearly all the replacements who have been mentioned thus far, for tackling the role.
Why don't you slice away the thick dramatics for once and just start telling the truth.
Folks, it's time to call a spade a spade-
BONDFINESSE 007 - you're nothing more then a blind worshipping zealot in the cult of Brosnan, not a real James Bond 007 fan;
plain and simple.

What constitutes a real James Bond fan? Do you have to have a certain blood type? Midichlorians in your blood? A degree from the College of Fleming? Enquiring minds want to know!

According to MSNBC (who reported this around 2:00pm ET), ERIC BANA has been chosen to play James Bond in the next film (Bond 21/Casino Royale).
:)

It is not clear where they found this information (there has been no press releases), or whether he has been signed yet. I just thought I would share this information with you. :)

(BTW, I'm new here and look foreward to talking more). :)

Welcome to CBn, Lorne75!

And don't take this the wrong way at all, but I'm just going to close this thread as we have one like it here: http://debrief.comma...30

Feel free to discuss there! :)

MSNBC is reporting that Eric Bana is playing Bond. With all these news sources reporting this, it just might be true. :)

I think Bond is in serious, deep, deep trouble if it is true.

Doubt it. Kind of like dominos. If one place picks it up, usually all the other sites do too for some Bond news, no matter how far fetched it may be. As it may be the case here. That's how I see it.

There may be talk, and possibly even auditions [???], but I strongly believe that no one has been signed yet.

Same here. If somebody were signed, one could naturally assume that EON would have issued a statement by now either rebuffing or confirming any stories. Granted that's a pretty big assumption, but still....

I think you might be putting too mucxh faith in them, Genrewriter. Take a look at the recent news, but lack from them. :)

Oh, I'm absolutely putting too much faith in them, at this point they're about as reliable as a broken down car. And like I said, it's a pretty big assumption to make. :)

Fair enough. I think once that MGM project gets out of the way, they'll get going. Be damn time to anyways. :)

I agree that's a crap photo if you're trying to convince someone that he can play Bond. He doesn't look like Bond in The Hulk. The clothes, the attitude is all wrong...Like I said, watch the DVD extras from Black Hawk down and I think you'll be convinced. :) [/QUOTE]

...Connery in a loincloth from Zardoz looks more like Bond than this otherwise terrific actor. Lazenby, Moore, Dalton -- Brosnan -- all top this guy -- regardless of which angle the sun happens to be pointing, etc.

These rumors just won't stop. Google news is filled with Bana is Bond stories. Even Bana's rep saying he hasn't been approached can't shut them down.

I'm thinking we might finally see Eon say something by the end of the week.

On MKKBB there is a link just for James Bond Bond 21 links, I've seen several pages just of Bana ones. That's how sad this is, that these rumors are picked up by so many.

I vote no....I definitely don't think he looks the part, much to young, and in my opinion he doesn't have that suave charisma Bond need IMHO. Although, I have not seen "Troy".

Moscow says they want Adrian Paul....

Erica Bana's publicist also says he has not even been approached for the part!

Interesting, I'm going to Quick News that as I saw it yesterday where they asked everyone to choose. :) Ah yes, it has been updated.

Drew "Moriarty" McWeeney posted further comments on CHUD.com's message board, which is sort of like AICN's board, except the users have coherent opinions and grammar skills (also, if you think opinion on DAD here is sour, you should peruse CHUD for a while).

Anyway, he's backed off the initial report somewhat:

I'm not personally sold on the Eric Bana thing, but I'm hearing from many places now that it's pretty much a done deal. Guess we'll see what happens if MGM does end up being sold. Time/Warner may have very different ideas about the series...

He also adds another intriguing piece of putative inside information:

Clive Owen will never be James Bond. MGM hates him, and KING ARTHUR didn't do him any favors. EON films hates him, and KING ARTHUR didn't do him any favors. It's time for people to let it go. And KING ARTHUR didn't do him any favors.

Sheesh, take it he wasn't the #1 fan of King Arthur.

Not sold on Bana either, never have been.
