Don't worry, Bond Bug. I'd take him over Heath Ledger.I know when I'm in a minority! But as I said, he's not my fiirst choice.97% running against Bloom as 007.

You know, I don't think in the history of CBn there has never been such universal agreement on a topic as there has been in this thread.

The only thing good I see about Troy is Sean Bean. It just looks so overplayed, like Gladiator (i didn't care for that movie)It's a shame - Troy has a pretty good cast...for the most part. Sean Bean, Brian Cox, Bredan Gleeson...and...Orlando Bloom. I'm pretty sure that his character dies...in which case...YES!

Yes, I agree about Gladiator - very, VERY overrated. Russell Crowe gave a generic, run-of-the-mill performance. Nothing extraordinary about that movie whatsoever. The only thing good I see about Troy is Sean Bean. It just looks so overplayed, like Gladiator (i didn't care for that movie)
And I can see where this is similar. I remember my friends going nuts over the teaser, and I wasn't in the least bit impressed. So what - thousands of little CGI ships...George Lucas could do that, and people would laugh and call it trash. So how is this any better? I'm sorry, I don't understand what it is to Troy that so many people are soiling their pants in anticipation. I mean, sure, it might be an entertaining adventure/war film.
But I am a huge fan of Brian Cox, and I will see it just for him. I'm also curious to hear James Horner's score for the film.
Thankfully, Brian Cox will be in a movie that I DO anticipate - The Bourne Supremacy. Now there's a film worth salivating over...

So how many of you guys WOULD by the 007 posters and plaster Orlando Bloom on your walls if he became Bond? While looking at JohnBoy's Bedroom Thread a thought rushed into my mind. If Bloom became Bond, male fans are not going to be putting posters of Orlando Bloom on their walls. I'm sorry, but I just can't see that happened. I mean, I wouldn't even put Orlando on my wall, for goodness sakes.
It's like, to put Brosnan, Dalton, Moore, Lazenby, & Connery on ones walls, that's different they're men you look at and you want to be. But Bloom... uh, I think those Bond posters would only be on the walls of teenaged girls wanting him up there becasue he's Orlando Bloom not becasue of Bond.

I would get the posters, I'm a collector, but I definitely agree with you that they'd be heavily inferior to all the others. So how many of you guys WOULD by the 007 posters and plaster Orlando Bloom on your walls if he became Bond? While looking at JohnBoy's Bedroom Thread a thought rushed into my mind. I'd probably prefer this than the gradual slide into mediocrity that we seem to be currently experiencing - and with me not knowing when to call it a day.
Obviously I would prefer a return to greatness - but sometimes I suspect that those days have passed.

My reaction - and I'm being honest here - would be something along the lines of:Upon hearing this news, I would rip all my clothes to pieces, shave off all hair on my body and then proceed to burn all my JB dvds at a quiet ceremony in the garden.
How would you react?

Orlando Bloom as Young James Bond? I wouldn't mind at all.

1. Miramax PUBLISHING purchased the rights to make Young James Bond NOVELS.
2. The British Press ran with the story and attached Orlando Bloom. You know how the British "press" is. Just a bunch of rumor mongering tabloids.
3. Miramax WILL NEVER be able to make a James Bond film, young, old, or otherwise. Only DANJAQ/EON/MGM can do that.
So just throw this in the shredder and forget about it.

Don't think it's all that "official." But more of just being mentioned.I was just wondering if the news about Orlando Bloom is official? I heard it to be an official statement, but that it may have nothing to do with Eon?

"Orlando To Bloom As Young 007?
Orlando Bloom's dream of becoming the next James Bond looks set to become reality - but he'll be playing the young 007. The Pirates Of The Caribbean actor has confirmed he has been in negotiations to star in Young 007. He says, "I love the idea, in principle, as he can be far more adventurous and do more stunts. This is as near as I think I will get to playing the grown up James for the next 20 years." The first Young 007 movie will be based on new novel Silverfin and will be set in the 1930s, years before Bond discovered he likes his Martinis shaken, not stirred. The film will follow the young Bond from school at Eton, England, to his uncle's house in the west Highlands."
I mean, something tells me that this story wreaks of

Makes you wonder, though, would Purvis and Wade script a Young Bond and how much of the regular crew would be involved? Kind of like when Broccoli and Saltzman did Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with so many of the regular crew between YOLT and OHMSS.

I don't know if I have an opinion on a Young Bond film series or not. I guess anything that helps recognize the original series or the Bond name is a good thing; I just would hate it to overwhelm what came before it and, if successful, make that series the priority while the regular series suffers.

I absolutely hate the idea! Luckily I very much doubt it will happen. It's just good publicity for the book.

The James Bond in Silverfin is only 13 years old, so even Daniel Radcliffe would be too old. Orlando Bloom is 28 - very close to the age of George Lazenby in OHMSS. So seems more likely that this relates to Casino Royale which we've heard will feature Bond at the start of his career.

Like I say, though, I don't think there's enough material in "Silverfin" to make an interesting film, although that said I suppose "they" (Purvis and Wade, probably) could write new scenes and action sequences for a big screen version. And, heck, I guess they'd be quite happy to make a film that wasn't "interesting", just as long as it seemed likely to make money!
