So go on, now's your chance to gloat. What have you got that's Bond related of eBay? But more importantly for how much?

Myself:

Jonathan Cape/Book Club Edition of Goldfinger -

I've bought many novels, some of the Jonathan Capes to be specific, some of the CD singles and soundtracks, posters and old VHS copies of the Bond films that I collect.

Mostly, I buy publications of the Bond novels on eBay the most.

Are the Jonathan Cape editions actually of any value? It would be nice for once to own something expensive. Although I see that the Sideshow figures are already increasing in value.

Yes, the Jonathan Capes are of very high value, depends on what printing of them you get also, but they're quite rare, depending on what novel exactly.

How can you tell what printing they are? They don't have the modern day 10 9 8 7...

In fact mine don't have anything at all...

Hmm, and these are the Jonathan Capes?

Mine say that, (and for instance, I have a 2nd printing of OHMSS), it lists the printing of the first print, and then directly under it, it lists the 2nd printing.

My one piece of advice to all of you is, if you are not sure a piece of memorabilia is real, post the link here, and have someone look at it for you.

There are scam artists out there, and Ebay doesn't seem to give a damn.

My North Korean Army hat prop from DAD is my fave ever Ebay purchase.

Nothing like skiing in a North Korean Army Hat/Bond prop whilst humming Bond music.

Is that an original one-sheet, dark, or a reprint? If original, you got one heck of a deal!

A 1997 reprint, sadly. Still looks great. I received it this morning. I had originally been bidding on an original Moonraker one-sheet, but lost out. The same seller was also offering the On Her Majesty’s Secret Service reprint, so I picked that up at the last minute.

My North Korean Army hat prop from DAD is my fave ever Ebay purchase.

Wow! If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for it?

Must relate a quote from a friend on the Licence to Kill 'prop casino chips' I bought on ebay.

mattbowyer : they made these for the film in 1989.
jr : and it seems they still are!

Christopher Wood's Moonraker novelisation - $4.
The James Bond Collector's Classic VHS, featuring 1954's Casino Royale - $7.95.
Tomorrow Never Dies soundtrack - $1.
The 007 DVD Sampler - $9.95.
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service US one-sheet - $19.95.

And, I'll add to that list...

Licence To Kill soundtrack - $37.

Bit pricey, but finally my James Bond soundtrack collection is complete! Dr. No to The Living Daylights, plus GoldenEye remastered, as well as the original releases of Licence To Kill through to Die Another Day. Never Say Never Again completes the set!

The Tomorrow Never Dies expanded score is the only one really left, but it doesn't bother me too much. I consider the first CD to be the soundtrack proper, as it contains the vocal songs.

Pardon me, 'The Book Club'. However, I seem to be under the impression that they are one in the same thing?

Book Club editions are reprints of the original Cape editions. Zencat's right when he says later Cape editions are noted on the verso title page, but you can also tell if your book is a true Jonathan Cape first by looking out for the following;

CASINO ROYALE Title page states "First Published 1953". Dust wrapper is priced 10s 6d. There should not be a Times review on the dustwrapper.

LIVE AND LET DIE Title page states "First Published 1954". Dust wrapper is priced 10s 6d. NOTE: There are three states of 1st Edition dust wrappers for this novel. State one shows no credit for the front cover art. State two has a two-line credit on the inside front flap, halfway between the blurb and the price. State three has a two-line credit positioned immediately after the blurb.

MOONRAKER "First Published 1955", dust wrapper priced 10s 6d.

DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER "First Published 1956", dust wrapper priced 12s 6d.

FROM RUSSIA, WITH LOVE "First Published 1957", dust wrapper priced 13s 6d.

Dr NO "First Published 1958", dust wrapper priced 13s 6d. Two versions remain of this edition. One with the dancing girl embossed in the front cover board and one without. The one without is generally thought to be rarer.

GOLDFINGER "First Published 1959", dust wrapper priced 15s.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY "First Published 1960", dust wrapper priced 15s.

THUNDERBALL "First Published 1961", dust wrapper priced 15s.

THE SPY WHO LOVED ME "First Published 1962", dust wrapper priced 15s.

ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE "First Published 1963", dust wrapper priced 16s. There were 250 limited edition, numbered and signed special editions, and a further 45 unnumbered but signed.

YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE "First Published 1964", dust wrapper priced at 16s. NOTE: "First Published March 1964" is a second impression.

THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN "First Published 1965", dust wrapper priced 18s. There are copies with a gold embossed revolver on the front cover board, but these are very scarce.

OCTOPUSSY AND THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS "First Published 1966", dust wrapper priced at 10s 6d.

I was advised to follow these little tips when tracking down my own copies of the Flemings firsts some years back and I'm certainly glad I did. I never knew I was sitting on a fortune until I read Jim's post on the value of these things! :)

(Just realised that all this probably appears elsewhere on the site, but I can't find it. Apologies to anyone who has compiled a similar list)

I've been picking up some stills from Bond and The Avengers off of eBay lately. I also just bought an original ROLLED 40x60 poster from Roger Moore's film "Crossplot." I attached a pic in another thread, but I'll attach it here because I think it's so cool.

I love it and consider it worth ever penny.

I have never seen it in a Barnes and Noble, Borders, FYE, Sam Goody, and various other stores, yet the original edition will usually pop-up.

I have yet to buy anything on Ebay. :)
