Ah, yes.

Meeting Mr. Jones. AKA ST. Boy, does he suck.

Yes, I remember the two us hoping to make our get away in that swift little two man sub we parked only to find it borrowed by MR. JONES.

Please remind me to make sure his nose remains broken.

But, pleeeease, I'll let you start the story and do a little fill in at the beginning.

It all started......

*Bryce finishes reading report*

Give me a bit, I want to phrase this just right as we are dealing with a mission some may be familiar with "elements" of.

For what will follow, please understand this was "our" Dr. No. Not by any means our first assignment, but until the time of this, presume no one had ever heard of Dr. No and it's 1993.

Everybody got that?

Good.

Give me until this afternoon 004.

Folks...I have a meeting at 5pm EST. Am I am going to be able to read Bryce's post, and keep a straight face at this meeting.

Good to see you have been briefed on me Matt. Pity you're married, or I might have had to de-brief you.

You haven't been proposing or propositioning the ladies of CBn again have you 004.

Watch out ladies, the old boy's got some charm....

Who did win the abandon lingerie contest when we moved out of the house 004?

*009 stumbles out of the executive washroom holding his stomach with his right hand and fingering the trigger of his now fully loaded P99. (I took a moment to put the condoms in my desk drawer and replace them with real bullets. Thank you very much Genrewriter.)

"Whoever was responsible for the awful tobasco that ended up with my eggs this morning will wish they had body armor strong enough to stop glasers. And why were there techs strewn about the floor outside my office? Just because 007 has a bad day doesn't give him the right to leave bodies where other 00s might step on them. He could at least call housekeeping. 'Wet cleanup on floor 11,' or something like that."

*Stopping to grab a few shots of vodka out of the freezer, 2 vicodin tablets, and a bottle of pepto, 009 stomps down the hall toward the lifts to Q branch and those still hungover techies that will soon wish they had stayed home today.

I am not responsible for 007's sudden apalling lack of manners, but I know the Tabasco sauce is all 003's fault.

*009 doubles back and goes into 003's office through the air duct that connects their offices making sure to bypass 003's personal security system in the ducts. (Note to notify MI6 shrink of suspicions 003 has become increasingly paranoid recently.)

A few drops of phenothaline in the scotch, a few frozen shrimp wrapped around the base of the office chair, and just before heading back out the way he came, 009 carefully removes several of 003's most cherished medals and replaces them with phoney medalions. Finally, he shoots a quick email from Bryce's computer to M stating that "recent changes in the accounting practices for expense cheques border on facism" and heads up through the ceiling with a smile and a slight stomach cramp.

Hopefully, when Athena007 regains her composure and that look of astonishment fades slightly, I may get an response.

(004 only gets to ask this question once. No matter what the answer, no long trips on the continent.)

Funny thing, 007 mentioned the condom bullet thing to me this afternoon. Didn't seem mad at all, he thanked me for the extras and then went with Dr. Warmflash into the broom closet. Well, at least I know how much the man has in his wallet.

*Puts x-ray glasses back on as Dr. Warmflash reenters.*

Um, I think I need another coffee break, guys. If M calls, I'm not here.

Don't worry about 003, Athena I can assure you he will be "under the weather" for a few days after the Tabasco incident. He should be fine once the laxatives work out of his system and he drains and refills the gas tank, and disarms the refrigerator, and reverses his stun guns back to pointing forward, and reloads of of his weapons, and...

*Slugging back a stiff shot of VOX and stifling a chuckle as he heads out of the office for his house in the country.

And what was that 003 was saying about his Tabasco stock being inpenatrable?

My dear Bryce, nothing is impossible when it comes to me. I may not do the deed, but I do see it gets done.

Athena, should you decide to marry 004, I would suggest registering at MacCallan's website. ;-)

I would be honored.

Although I certainly do not wish to make the office a place for romance. I do not wish to create undo tension or sonfusion. (The entire 00 section can do that quite well on its own, thank you.((009 is a perfect case in point)) ).

Perhaps a short visit at the Russian Tea Room to quietly discuss whatever topics arise.

As you wish.

Fondly,

Matt

004 quietly shuts off his computer and cleans his desk. (pushes paperwork into waste receptacle), grabs his jacket, (checks his sidearms) and offers his arm to Athena.

Let's go....there's no time like this time....

The office goes dead silent..... (probably because 004 has three sidearms.)

The two of them casually walk to the lift.

Smiles.

Small talk.

The doors open on an empty lift.

They step in.

Then close.

No one in the office moves. No one seems to breathe.

003 concerned stare lasts for what seems a long moment and very slowly a small smile creeps in.

One word leaves John Bryce's lips, ever so softly....

"Bastard." 003 smiles...but its the kind of smile that comes form experience, from knowing.....

They are both married to what they do and what they do is what they are.

The world will use their feeling against them. Use any tenderness they share as a weapon to keep them off balance. Force them to do what they would never....all because they dared to share a moment....

003's smile reflects his knowledge that the odds very much aginst them both....

"Bloody hell with the odds. Just make sure she's packing. ol' man."

The tabasco was one of the techs...NOT ME...

Touche' 009, but next time check your facts. Then again when it comes to some bad tabasco, not bloody much else matters...except getting to the nearest bathroom.

I warned you ladies 004 was a charmer....

No really....

*Bryce opens filing cabinet and is immediately hit with a spring loaded boxing glove which floors him*

*Shaking it off, sits up rubbing jaw*

Nice touch 009....That's class....

*Reaches for Glenlivet 18*

*Bryce strolls into office with a HUGE box from the ACME company*

*Begins reading instructions*

"Thank you for choosing the ACME 'Punch-O-Matic 6000' - This handy little device will provide hours of entertainment and lethal force for you and your friends...."

Cool.

*Bryce continues reading while innocently whistling "Goldfinger"*

"So, why do you feel the need to carry 3 sidearms, Matt? I'm not that dangerous."

You should really consider getting your combat condoms from Q-branch. That must be one heavy box.

ACME?

Not known for quality, if memory serves.

Your call, sir.

Perhaps....but experience has rather harshly taught me that on occasion...there are others who are and don't care who I am or what I do.

Besides, I trust you have some experience with a sidearm.

Always good to have a little....back-up.

Besides...I'm sure there's a little danger in you...somewhere.

I always carry back up; it's just very well hidden. If they don't know what's there they think you're vulnerable and you can find out their true intentions and then... disarm them.

*Athena looks at 004 in a sly manner...*
"Oh you're not in trouble just yet."
*She walks off of the lift, glancing at him out of the corner of her eyes*

"Walking? Driving? Or stealing one of Q's vehicles?"

Now wait a minute.....

The "Naples Incident" was a sterling use of condoms. You fill enough with gasoline and they make great explosive devices....

Not my fault the Mayor tried to use one of the "modified" ones...

BTW - May I remind you G, of my idea for having that one batch dipped in one of our better truth agents.....You said the one you tested actually worked...The "test subject" did give you her REAL phone number.
