I've just started Moonraker by Ian Flemming again... Then it's hopefully off to Casino Royale... I'm just in the Flemming mood cuz he's my favorite by such a long shot!

I read Casino Royale again a few weeks prior to the release of the movie, then to keep me in the Fleming mood I re-read OHMSS again. Now I'm on to LALD for the second time and midway through made the decision to go ahead and re-read all of them again.

Good stuff indeed!

Can't lose with LALD, Pinky.

Finishing up Dr. No again myself. I'll be picking up at "Killing Ground" later today. :)

I'm currently reading The Moneypenny Diaries: Secret Servant by Samantha Weinberg.

How do you like it so far?

So far so good. I'm at the point prior to The Man With The Golden Gun mission. I have to say I liked The Moneypenny Diaries: Guardian Angel better than I thought I might--and certainly better than I thought I would when the subject was first announced. I liked all the little historical (factual and Bond-related) tidbits Weinberg put in the novel and she's continuing in that vein in Secret Servant.

:)

Can't wait to get into it myself.

I am currently reading "License Renewed", "FRWL", "CR", and I just started "The Moneypenny Diaries" :)

Which explains why I'm so behind in the Blades.. I need to focus on the novel at hand!

Me too - halfway through Moonraker - a really good read.

I finished Casino Royale. I'm waiting for the French version if a friend of mine could get it and then I'll go back and reread "You Only Live Twice." I also got "The Man with the Golden Gun."

I've read the Flemings in order, and finished Moonraker last night. Great books, especially since this is my first read of any literary Bond.

Don't know if you've ever read that, but it's about to get great.

Just finished Dr. No myself, again, and just picked up Goldfinger...yet again.

Just bought "For Your Eyes Only", "You Only Live Twice" and "The Man With the Golden Gun".

Waterstones have a 3 for 2 on Fleming (and other) books at the moment for those with holes in their collection. A three-books shaped hole would be best.

Got my copy of Casino Royale in French. On chapter 5. I think I might read more tonight. It's interesting to see how the translation translates the spirit of Fleming as it were. After that, not sure what I'll read.

Am five chapters through John Pearson's James Bond: The Authorised Biography. An absolutely awesome book. If you haven't read it, well then you should. Check abebooks. com or ebay.

First post! Last Thanksgiving Day, at the age of 58, I began re-reading the Flemings in order. I'm now on Octopussy, so about to move on to Amis, Gardner, et.al.

Good book. I did have a hard time reading the golf game chapter. Almost as bad as watching golf on TV. :cooltongue:

I loved that golf section actually. Just as good as the scene in the film.

Ultimately however, I think Goldfinger is one of the weaker Fleming novels.

I've read all the Bond novels over the years - most of them, especially the Fleming ones, more than twice. Recently I picked up Gardner's "Icebreaker" because I remember it having been one of my favourite post-Fleming novels when I last read it years ago. This time, however, I could not get into it, and when I tried to re-read one of the Benson's, I had the same problem. But I still pick up the Fleming novels no problem, even though I know them all inside out. I just finished reading "Doctor No" again, and I still love it. All his books are still evocative and exciting to me, and I know I'll continue re-reading for the rest of my life, even if I never touch any of the others. That said, I read all the Higson books, and will read the next adult Bond novel, simply because I have to, and I generally do enjoy them the first time around.
