I'll be interested to see to what extent they've developed the role Leiter from that of the character Wolpert in the December 2005 draft of the script. I expect that to have secured such a good actor as Jeffrey Wright it may have been improved quite a lot, because Wolpert did not feature heavily at all in the original draft.

Do you guys think Jeff Wright will be Felix for more than one movie? Do you think w/e the next movie is Felix will get his armed chopped off like in the book? I saw a clip of Wright on the trailer for Lady in The Water he looked pretty good.

I imagine the producers would like some continuity with the actor portraying Leiter, so I expect they will try and feature Jeffrey Wright in BOND 22 if possible. Personally I don't think they will maim the character again. That would needlessly open the whole continuity/reboot debate once more. He's clearly an excellent actor - will be interesting to see the manner in which he approaches the role.

I'm convinced that Wright will return in Bond 22. He's not well known yet so I think Eon hired him on the basis that he will return. He's not big enough to pull a Jack Lord and ask to be paid as much as Daniel Craig for Bond 22.

Lieter's role in CR should is a small one, almost cameo. He's not used as much as in the novel or like in DN and I kind of like that. It's kind of like a little nod or wink to us fans after Lieter has been gone for over a decade. I had heard comments from others who read the script that they wish his role in CR would be expanded. I disagree. CR is Bond'd film and with Vesper and Mathis already there is no need to expand Lieter's role. His apperence in the film is appropriate and sets the seeds for a future collaboration with Bond and 22 would be a nice place to start.

Same here. After waiting so long for the site and flash to load and once on the site none of there links or buttons work. Probably the connection. I heard there are pics of most of the major cast in character but I haven't been able to view those or and details!

I was going off the Dec. draft. Haven't been able to find out anyhting else.

Also going from the Dec script - where Felix isn't a role - it's pretty obvious which character will become Leiter, I hope in a way they incorporate some of Mathis' part and also expand both characters slightly

P.S. I don't know if anyone knows but any news of the full length trailer, I read DAD's full length premired on ET before the theaters.....

Mr. Wright is a wonderful actor. I'm really looking forward to his input in Casino Royale.

They could make Felix Leiter a character more in line of M, Q or Moneypenny like they used to...in that he appears in just about every film. Jeffrey Wright could serve as the permanent Leiter. The same way M and Q use more-permanent actors/actresses, and to a lesser extent Moneypenny since Maxwell.

I feel the exact same way (and yeah, I saw the film too, loved it ). He's a great actor, I'm glad EON secured him.

What the heck is going on in Casino Royale? Why did they even use Jeffery Wright to play Felix Leiter. They should know that, that is not how Felix Leiter looks, since they are the offical James Bond movie makers. They should know for a very long time already that Felix Leiter looks mostly like Frank Sinatra and a little Texas. Is Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson trying to market James Bond to today

Actually they wanted to cast the best actor they could find in the role. And at the moment, Jeffrey Wright is a hot commodity, I just can't believe they got him for such a small role, I bet he returns in the next film.
