Nice plot, dude. But, as Ace said, let's anglo-cize it, also adding a summary of what we've got so far including some character notes.

CAST

1 Bond: ALEX O'LACHLAN
2 Bond Girl 1: Scarlett Johanssen as Simone Latrelle
3 Bond Girl 2: Rachel McAdams as Lena Martin
4 Henchman: Richard Kiel returning as "Jaws"
5 Villain: Gary Oldman as Giorgi Nemerov
6 M: Michael Caine
7 Q: Jennifer Love Hewitt (Q'ute)
8 Monneypenny: Famke Jansen
9 Tanner: Michael Kitchen
10 Ally: Owen Wilson as Felix Leiter

LOCATIONS

11 Pre-Titles Location: New York City (see pretitles stunt for details)
12 Location 1: Stockholm, Sweden (am assuming that Bond goes here as a result of the data chip from the pretitles - and meets Lena here too)
13 Location 2: New Orleans, USA (suggest that Lena is dead by this point and Bond teams up with both Leiter and Simone in New Orleans)
14 Location 3: Sydney, Australia (I don't know why)

KEY PLOT POINTS

15 Villains Plot: SEE BELOW

16 Pre-Title Sequence Stunt:

We observe a woman and a tuxedo'd man at a ball, the tuxedo'd man gets given a data chip by a contact and gets referred to as JB by the woman, Solange. The audience makes assumptions about who these people are - and what is going on.

We follow these two as they go to an underground parking garage - and a figure grabs the tuxedo'd man, uses Solange to frisk him, barking harsh orders to her to hurry up : female hands caress the tuxedo, the bow-tie and a secret pocket containing the data chip, hidden within a palm pilot - a typical Bond scenario.

The figure then orders Solange to get in the car - and they take off. And the tuxedo'd man radios for help and steals a motorbike, breaking off in pursuit of the car - a stylish, sexy silver Mercedes Benz SLR.

The car chase through NYC ensues - a stylish chase like the one in The Bourne Supremacy. And at some point, Solange leans over to the driver, pulls off the crash helmet and introduces herself.

FIGURE: I know who your are. And what you are.
SOLANGE: And what is that, exactly?
FIGURE: Very good. At what you do, Ms Solange.
SOLANGE: Well, I'm good at what excites me, Mr...?

Just then some explosion/traffic/hair-raising moment prevents the figure from giving his name - but we quickly establish that she is a secret agent who has stolen the data chip from the tuxedo'd man, this was her escape route so as not to look suspicious.

Solange is MI6 - the car is from Q branch.

The car evades the clutch of the tuxedo'd man and his private security thugs and the big stunt, when it comes, sends the car plunging off the Brooklyn Bridge into the Hudson Strait - the car appears to be destroyed causing the tuxedo'd man to think that Solange and the mysterious figure are dead.

The tuxedo'd man flips open his cell phone.

TUXEDO'D MAN: Our assets were unfortunately lost - but our friends have been terminated. Yes, they've gone for a long swim -

We cut to the car sinking into the murky water - and then within as Solange leans over and presses a button on the dashboard, the car begins to convert into a submarine and, a second button pressed, reveals a chilled bottle of champagne and two champagne flutes in a hidden compartment in the dashboard.

Solange leans over to kiss the mysterious figure.

SOLANGE: Nice driving, Mr -
MYSTERIOUS FIGURE: Bond, James Bond.

We cut to the submarine/car pushing through the murky water and over, we hear:

SOLANGE: Oh, James -

And we smash cut to the credits sequence and an amazing song.

EXTRA CAST:

Clive Owen as John 'JB' Barlow
Nia Long as Solange

17 Major Stunt 1: (for Stockholm)
18 Major Stunt 2: (for New Orleans)
19 Finale Stunt: (in Australian Outback)

At the private airstrip, Bond escapes from the clutches of, and deals with, Jaws before stealing a de-weaponed Harrier. Simone is being held hostage by Giorgi on his Boeing 7E7 which took off minutes before - and Bond quickly catches up. Giorgi jumps out of the 7E7 with one parachute - and Simone tied to him. Bond flips the Harrier upside down - and ejects to catch them both up. The Harrier collides with the 7E7 - as Bond starts to fight Giorgi in mid air, the parachute cords tangle and Simone falls, but Bond manages to kill Giorgi by strangling him with the parachute cords. Bond then cuts his cords, chases Simone, catches her and deploys the reserve chute - they land safely as a large explosion of the crashed 7E7 in the background.

MY SUGGESTED MOD TO THE PLOT:

Backstory:

Giorgi NEMEROV is a mulit-billion dollar oil magnate, who invests in his hobbies, owning football teams, yachts, planes and cars. He has a large monopoly on the oil supplies of the world ( perhaps mention TWINE, have Giorgi say that 'after that idiot Robert King, blew himself up, and his demented daughter procured a nuclear bomb - her companies stock plumetted and i made a tidy profit buying all their holdings. bond does have his uses after all -' ). However his shipments are often attacked and destroyed by both rival companies and crime groups.

Using money to his advantage he employs a private army to defend his oil shipments and this is a controversial decision world wide. His brother, who was a ringleader in the Russian Mafia was found strapped to a chair with a bullet lodged into his head - obviously dead ... and Giorgi makes public his vendetta to discover the identity of his brothers killer.

Film Starts:

In his quest for his brother's murderer, Giorgi uncovers information about a data chip - this data chip, programmed by elusive computer genius Lena Martin, would enable Giorgi to hack into the CIA, FBI, Mossad, SIS and KGB systems to reveal sensitive information - including the present and past positions of the agents of the respective organisations. Seeing an opportunity to discover who killed his brother, Giorgi attempts to seize this data (in NYC) but fails.

Giorgi (and Bond) learn that Lena Martin is in Stockholm, Sweden and both go there - with Giorgi under the pretense of a business trip to the opening of a facility there. Bond makes contact with Lena but she is kidnapped by Giorgi and forced to create a copy of the chip - and Bond breaks in to stop her and stop the chip being created. As he escapes with Lena - she is shot and Giorgi has the data chip.

And with this chip he discovers that the only NSA operative in Russia at the time of his brothers death is - Simone Latrelle, currently residing in New Orleans.

Bond contacts his old friend Felix - and Felix uses his contacts to help Bond find out where Simone is, so Bond heads to New Orleans too. There, he meets up with Simone and, after a cunning game of cat and mouse wherein they are both captured and Bond is beaten, tortured and later, able to escape - knowing that Jaws is working for Giorgi and that he has Simone in custody.

Once Giorgi has Miss Latrelle he takes her to the Nemerov Corporation HQ in Sydney, Australia. Where he will hold her hostage - demanding that various countries withdraw all their agents from Russia. He does not intend to go and intends to brutally murder her (evil pet animal ?) - and then release all of the information he has garnered from the unlawful entry into the mainframes over to the general public.

His attempt at murder is interrupted by the arrival of Bond - and Jaws captures him, Giorgi makes his getaway with Bond and Simone to a private mining operation in the middle of the Aussie desert, there he has been hording black market weapons for his private army including his own plane and several Harriers.

There, Giorgi intends to have Bond humiliated and left to die in the middle of the desert - so he orders henchmen to strip Bond, of equipment and clothes as he boards his private jet, orders a Harrier escort and leaves.

Jaws is to deal with Bond but Bond soon defeats him and breaks back into the private airforce base (in just his undies - he was stripped so that sunburn and stroke would take their toll quicker) where he manages to assault and take down two pilots - steal their uniforms and hijack a waiting Harrier. He takes off - and two other Harriers follow him, which he manages to defeat but soon he realises that the Harrier has run out of weapons.

In a desperate attempt to escape Giorgi jumps from the plane with Latrelle tied to him. Bond catches up and strangles Giorgi.

Bond plays cat and mouse in the Harrier with the Boeing 7E7 and threatens to ram the larger jet - which he lines up to do, so Giorgi bails out with Simone and Bond ejects up upside down, catches up with Giorgi, strangles him and then parachutes to safety with Simone - they land on a luxury cruise ship while the 7E7 and Harrier collide and crash into the distance.

The portable hard drive that Giorgi had stowed the only copy of the downloaded information onto - has been destroyed in the explosion.

So, we need Major Stunt 1 (Stockholm), Major Stunt 2 (New Orleans) and all of the gadgets. I'm quite pleased with the modification to Watt's plot as it takes into account the Anglocism mentioned by Ace and has a reason for them both going after Lena - and stuff like that.

Firstly, chaps, can we amend SOLANGE's car so it is a new Lotus Esprit? She is SIS, after all, and we do want to foreshadow the change? Pretty please, with sugar on top?

Secondly, I think NEMEROV has been used as a name already in The Sum Of All Fears. I liked calling him RISICO - obvious title. Let RISICO be his single name, like RENARD. Let him be from Chechnya in the backstory. And can we avoid "Giorgi" - Koskov was called that.

Secondly, like the "knock list" plot but can we amend it? Lists of agents has been SO many times. How about something like this.

Lena Martin's disk allows access to and reprogramming of the Joint Intelligence Organized Crime Database (JIOD) (BOND: "Sounds suspiciously similar to God."). She only plans to expose the intrusion.

RISICO intends to use the chip to:
1) amend the database to remove all traces of his organization linked to businesses and fronts and politicians around the world
2) create false links to rival organizations and politicians around the world
3) leak this disinformation to countries and press agencies around the world.

He will do this to legitimize his organization, send his enemies scurrying and destablize the intelligence organization and political institutions around the world.

RISICO: You see Mr Bond, the most recent desert skirmish has somewhat sullied the reputation for accuracy for people in your profession.
BOND: My profession is to kill
RISICO: Yes, the truth. We share the same target and my detractors will be collateral damage.
BOND: But with this disinformation, you will turn the planet upside down. Economic and political stability will cease. You will ruin every democratic institution in the world.
RISICO: I'm sure if you ask the good people they will say that has already been done - by those who seek to preserve their corruption.

Right, now Stockholm.

Burly Chassis (acknowledgements to Houston One Note GM :) ) soars the exit to the title song:
"My hearts says he will go
This love is risico..." :)
Daniel Kleinman's titles end in a back lit Union Flag, wavering which fades in on...

...Union Flag. Fluttering outside a sign written in Swedish. The British Embassey in Stockholm. A palatial interior with mirrored walls, large hanging chandelier. A typical British mandarin, the Ambassador, presses a discreet button and the old fine mirrors dissolve to reveal room behind. Wall slides with satisfing hum to reveal an OVERSIZED slanting roofed, gunmetal and perspex chamber, tech-ed up to the max and an odd shaped skeletal apparatus with a Brioni dressed man, head setted and wired up. The Ambassador taps something in a keyboard...

...and the words "EVENT COMMENCES 15:00 HOURS" appear on screen in BOND's POV. He is in a VIRTUAL BRIEFING strolling through the doors of MI6 (presented realistically). He is called off his mission to track down arms shipments to front corporations in Russia by suspected PAVEL BILLISTIAN (not enamoured by this name. Want it to have Chechen flavour but not overstate the case) aka RISICO ("in ziss piznezz is much risico") (exposited by Tanner) and briefed by M and Robinson on the backstory of Lene Martin (see below)and the need to obtain the other chip. Q briefs Bond about the relevance of the chip and the need to lift the remaining chip before it is announced the world. M: "This is the SECRET Intelligence Service, after all, 007". A cold flirtation with Moneypenny produces a warning flash in Bond's POV - "Not Programmed To Perform" to which Bond smiles ruefully, "How true that is!".
Bond removes gear and thanks Ambassador who says, "Glad you liked our new diplomatic bag".

Lene Martin is a HUMAN RIGHTS IDEALIST who objects to the lack of privacy and intrusion of the intelligence services. She and her STOCKHOLM based think tank, TRUST THE PEOPLE are concerned about human rights abuses (Guantanamo Bay receives a sideswipe from M, practises in Africa and Russia esp. RISICO's legitimate enterprises). They have developed have developed this technology (by their sister organization in New Orleans, US) and have prosaically called the chip, "THE END OF HISTORY". They will expose the Intelligence services at a massive press conference with a FAMOUS rock star in attendance. This will be held in the Skansen Zoo and Open Air Museum ("to remind us that we humans are still animals") and will take place at the same time as the annual yachting regatta and balloon festival.

Bond drives through Stockholm in Aston Martin and we trace the car arriving at event and Bond making contact with Lene and posing as a journalist (She is unsure. Bond says "Trust the people.") intercut with aerial views of Stockhom, the bay around Skeppsholmen and the Royal Palace give way to animal shaped balloons (this is the zoo). Elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, gazelle, tigers, and then four sharks. Self-propelled and descending. They reach the crowded area near the podium and decant their crew. Four men, camoflagued, combat-geared - RISICO MEN (RM). Trouble. Coloured smoke bombs, tazer attacks and they swoop the event, tazering famous rock star. Bond battles an attacker and take Lena with chip. They run along a raised walkway, suspended above the bay, high enough to allow passing yachts underneath watched from a slanting glazed observation platform. As they run, chased by RM (we see MACE, a goon, in Shark Balloon propelling along and above them), they avoid stream of machine gun bullet hits which smash the glass in observation platform. They run to gap and leap into midair....

...and onto the mast of a fast, racing, raging upon a tall catarmaran sailing yacht (a la the type used by Thomas Crown in remake) called the King Gustav!

They are caught in the regatta, the race, lunging and twisting in the choppy waters. Sliding down the rigging and onto the deck, they get a purchase. Only to find themselves being shot at by RM, dropping on the boat in the same manner. Human hail. 3 on board, and MACE, the subhenchman in shark balloon now moored to the mast. An awkard fist fight takes place amongst crashing waves and violent collisions with other boats. A water equivalent of the rally chase in OHMSS, shot with the power and authority of the elements, swooping in and around the boat and the regatta. Machine gun fire chugs chunks of the boat apart. Bond hangs one RM on rigging, impales another on protuding catarman. Boat lifts out of water. Basically, slaloming between other boats in Regatta and subjected to violent machine gun fire, slam bangs, coloured smoke bombs, Bond, Errol Flynn-like, swinging between catarmaran hulls on rigging, tearing through sails, overcomes all but MACE in tethered balloon on mast who slides down on rope only to be tazered by Bond.

Saving Lene's life, Bond has taken the chip, ready for demonstration at event. She realizes he is a government employee, is contemptuous but he has saved her life, is very handsome and seems sincere. Persuasive. Where was chip developed? New Orleans. Chip developed by Simone Latralle, ace programmer.

The beaten up catarmaran sails out of Saltsjon, Stockholm behind.

LENE lustily: "How can I be sure I'm doing the right thing?"
BOND: "Well, let's first check that you're doing it right!"

Romantic clinch and fade.

Sorry, got carried away there. Dump whatever doesn't work. Trying to be visual and original. For Bond anyway. BTW, this would be very expensive to shoot.

I'd like to jump in with the camp that Clive Owen in any incarnation would overshadow an OLachlan Bond and make it that much harder to accept him. Still it would be cool to see him in it.

Bond's car (s): If there is a scene of Bond driving in London, he should be in DB5...on assignment however -

Saab 9-3 Arc Turbo

Gadgets:

- 2 high powered flash guns mounted on the front driver and passengers side doors in sliding panels. 1 mounted in a panel above licence plate.

-Night vision display along front windshield (which is, of course, bulletproof)

-Caltrop pods in rear

-Smokescreen projector in rear

-self-inflating tires

-Revolving licence plate(s)

-Glove compartment safe with spare (full size) Walther P99 and silencer.

Also I'd like to suggest that Bond not carry the full size P99, but the P99cQA.

Well, it's not the main car so its not that prominent. It would be a nice discreet nod to Roger. By that same token, I didn't pick the lotus so it's not really my concern.

The nod is the car turning into a submarine. Once you're going to do that, I think you need the Lotus. It signals to the audience - so they won't say "Not Fair!" when you pull the same trick from a Merc. Also, it is a character thing. Solange is SIS.

Don't want a Saab for the main car either. Taken 4 films to get Bond in an Aston Martin and don't want him squandering that. Shall we put him in jeans and a T?
The Aston is a way classier, iconic, exotic road beast than the Saab.

Let's keep the British end up, shall we?

Mind you this is only a game so let's not argue the toss.

When I rewrote the PTS and Stockholm sequence, those were the cars I had in mind.

Yeah - let's go with the Aston Martin Vanquish/Zagato for Bond and something else for Solange - agreed, the Lotus would be a nice tip of the hat and the Esprit could be a sneaky tip of the hat.

Let's keep Risico - and we can go with that as the title too. Bowie would be cool as the theme singer (didn't somebody suggest that earlier) if he did a song like Cold Burn.

I like the yacht chase scenario, Ace, but think we should stay with the first scenario - and combine the yacht chase in as the stunt to go with Stockholm.

I also had the idea of Risico being very media savvy and using it as a weapon so have tried to reflect that.

PTS: Bond/Solange, Risico agent Barlow tries to get the chip and fails
ACT 1: MI6, Q recognises the handiwork on the chip of reclusive computer genius, Lena Martin, M sends bond into ...

Stockholm, Bond meets Lena almost accidentally - a coffee shop or something innocuous (WE as the audience know it was set up, Lena doesn't) and they hang out, romance, go for a meal, sleep together. Bond spys someone following them, moves to investigate, has a fight - turns and notices ... it was just a minor distraction. A group of thugs are manhandling Lena - he takes them down too. Lena makes her escape - scared of the thugs, scared of Bond too. The danger is now she won't trust him - even if he is to protect her. Bond escorts Lena back to her apartment - she changes clothes. Bond watches tv and sees Risico's press conference at his Stockholm building, sees a shadow moving outside the window - puts Bond and Lena on the run through Stockholm, sans the Aston Martin. A suspense driven foot chase - they come to a rest in the open air museum/zoo, believing themselves safe temporarily and Bond explains what is going on. Assailants drop from the sky - massive balloons, ostensibly for the Risico press conference, carrying them into the vicinity. Bond and Lena are on the run again - crashing through the zoo/museum into the harbour and the yacht race, onto the catamaran where the chase, as suggested by Ace, takes place but the ending comes when Bond is wounded, his catamaran mortally damaged and a catamaran of thugs makes off with Lena, as she screams Bonds name.

We dissolve through to MI6 again - or, at least, a facsimile of it in the bowls of an air carrier, the Ark Royal (tip of the hat to the faux MI6 in the Moore movies) where M, Moneypenny, Tanner and Q'ute brief and reequip Bond. Q'ute reveals the chip has been decoded, that they believe they know where Risico will strike next -

Smash cut to the Risico Building in Stockholm where we have Risico debuting villainously as he tortures Lena - forcing her to recreate the chip, which he uses to hack into the intelligence databases, learn who his brothers killer is. He orders a sexy blonde Swedish PA to prepare his personal jet, and looks off screen into the shadows, orders someone to 'deal with Ms Martin' - we see Lena being plunged into a tank of piranhas/sharks/something, and cut through to -

A nightclub in New Orleans.

I could see Buble doing a song ; one more in the mould of All Time High and Nobody Does It Better - it's been almost twenty years since Bond was pretentious enough to have a song written about him and it's high time that he had one written about him again.

So, yes, let's go with Buble doing a song reminiscent of Nobody Does It Better - a cool, slow, sensual but still exquisitely Bondian piece.

And since we're going with Armstrong as a collaborator on the piece, let's go with something that doesn't use the title, I'd like to name the title song and perhaps the movie - A Night To Die For.

I think I read that on another Bond site talking about movie titles, the line suggested was:

GIRL: It's been one helluva day.
BOND: And I'm sure it'll be a night to die for.

We can use this on the cruise ship at the end when Bond and Simone parachute onto it - before seguing to the credits sequence.

Heh, now we just need gadgets to implement into the stunts and overall plot and the Major Stunt for New Orleans and we're settled to hammer out the details. I have to say, I'm quite proud of this baby.

I always thought the title of the song could be "A Whisper of Love" after the chapter title in the Fleming novel. It would arise organically out of the source material.

Just a thought.

Risico

There's danger in the air
In love nothing is fair
He'll kill you and not care

The stranger plays a role
Of honour to unfold
He'll love you but it's cold

So cold
You can show him
Everything
You will owe him
Nothing
Your heart says he will go
This love is risico

The stranger takes your heart
To him it's just a part
He'll play you from the start

So cold
You can show him
Everything
You will owe him
Nothing
Your heart says he will go
This love is risico

:)

Er, not so good. No very easy to rhyme Risico :)

If we can get product placement by Nabisco, I think it could work!

Let's go back to A Night To Die For

Well, there was some discussion above about whether we'd use Risico as the title - and go with A Whisper Of Love for the title of the theme.

Has anyone heard the song 'Love Is A Loaded Gun' sung by Matt Dusk, something like that done by Buble could be perfect to match the down to Earth and gritty nature of this movie.
