Okay - here's what we'll do, a mix of Ace's concepts and my own, we go from Stockholm to the intervening scenes and then to Vancouver and the GM Stadium where Bond sits down next to Simone, introduces himself, she leaves, has business to attend to but will meet up with him later once she's validated he is who he says he is. She goes - and Bond is on the big screen, it's between two sets of the game and we see a thug in the control room, the announcers are knocked out and Bond is called down to the ice - his was the lucky seat. If he can hit three pucks into the net past the goalie, he wins something (make it something ironically Bondian) - but the goalie and host are thugs and when Bond has hit two goals, they spin into action and a host of hockey dress clad goons pour onto the ice. The audience all think this is a set up - that this is part of the entertainment and cheer Bond on as he takes on the hockey-clad goons. After a minute or two, more goons rappel from the catwalk - the odds are increasing but Bond is holding his own. He escapes by strangling a rappeling goon on his cord and climbing the rappel cord - onto the overhead pathway and out through a hatch onto the roof. We take in Vancouver - and a helicopter facing Bond, another goon, the one from the control room (MACE - the guy who kidnapped Simone in Stockholm) and Bond uses another gadget (explosive watch ?) to take out the helicopter. We dissolve through to later, at the ski resort/restaraunt and Bond meeting Simone.

We need to cast MACE - are we replacing JAWS with MACE ?

KEY PLOT POINTS

Villains Plot:

Backstory:

Giorgi Risico is a mulit-billion dollar oil magnate, who invests in his hobbies, owning football teams, yachts, planes and cars. He has a large monopoly on the oil supplies of the world ( perhaps mention TWINE, have Giorgi say that 'after that idiot Robert King, blew himself up, and his demented daughter procured a nuclear bomb - her companies stock plumetted and i made a tidy profit buying all their holdings. bond does have his uses after all -' ). However his shipments are often attacked and destroyed by both rival companies and crime groups.

Using money to his advantage he employs a private army to defend his oil shipments and this is a controversial decision world wide. His brother, who was a ringleader in the Russian Mafia was found strapped to a chair with a bullet lodged into his head - obviously dead ... and Giorgi makes public his vendetta to discover the identity of his brothers killer.

In his quest for his brother's murderer, Giorgi uncovers information about a data chip - this data chip, programmed by elusive computer genius Lena Martin, would enable Giorgi to hack into the CIA, FBI, Mossad, SIS and KGB systems to reveal sensitive information - including the present and past positions of the agents of the respective organisations. Seeing an opportunity to discover who killed his brother, Giorgi attempts to seize this data (in NYC) but fails.

Pre-Title Sequence Stunt:

We observe a woman and a tuxedo'd man at a ball, the tuxedo'd man gets given a data chip by a contact and gets referred to as JB by the woman, Solange. The audience makes assumptions about who these people are - and what is going on.

We follow these two as they go to an underground parking garage - and a figure grabs the tuxedo'd man, uses Solange to frisk him, barking harsh orders to her to hurry up : female hands caress the tuxedo, the bow-tie and a secret pocket containing the data chip, hidden within a palm pilot - a typical Bond scenario.

The figure then orders Solange to get in the car - and they take off. And the tuxedo'd man radios for help and steals a motorbike, breaking off in pursuit of the car - a stylish, sexy silver Mercedes Benz SLR.

The car chase through NYC ensues - a stylish chase like the one in The Bourne Supremacy. And at some point, Solange leans over to the driver, pulls off the crash helmet and introduces herself.

FIGURE: I know who your are. And what you are.
SOLANGE: And what is that, exactly?
FIGURE: Very good. At what you do, Ms Solange.
SOLANGE: Well, I'm good at what excites me, Mr...?

Just then some explosion/traffic/hair-raising moment prevents the figure from giving his name - but we quickly establish that she is a secret agent who has stolen the data chip from the tuxedo'd man, this was her escape route so as not to look suspicious.

Solange is MI6 - the car is from Q branch.

The car evades the clutch of the tuxedo'd man and his private security thugs and the big stunt, when it comes, sends the car plunging off the Brooklyn Bridge into the Hudson Strait - the car appears to be destroyed causing the tuxedo'd man to think that Solange and the mysterious figure are dead.

The tuxedo'd man flips open his cell phone.

TUXEDO'D MAN: Our assets were unfortunately lost - but our friends have been terminated. Yes, they've gone for a long swim -

We cut to the car sinking into the murky water - and then within as Solange leans over and presses a button on the dashboard, the car begins to convert into a submarine and, a second button pressed, reveals a chilled bottle of champagne and two champagne flutes in a hidden compartment in the dashboard.

Solange leans over to kiss the mysterious figure.

SOLANGE: Nice driving, Mr -
MYSTERIOUS FIGURE: Bond, James Bond.

We cut to the submarine/car pushing through the murky water and over, we hear:

SOLANGE: Oh, James -

And we smash cut to the credits sequence and an amazing song.

EXTRA CAST:

Clive Owen as John 'JB' Barlow
Nia Long as Solange

Major Stunt 1:

Stockholm, Bond meets Lena almost accidentally - a coffee shop or something innocuous (WE as the audience know it was set up, Lena doesn't) and they hang out, romance, go for a meal, sleep together. Bond spys someone following them, moves to investigate, has a fight - turns and notices ... it was just a minor distraction. A group of thugs are manhandling Lena - he takes them down too. Lena makes her escape - scared of the thugs, scared of Bond too. The danger is now she won't trust him - even if he is to protect her. Bond escorts Lena back to her apartment - she changes clothes. Bond watches tv and sees Risico's press conference at his Stockholm building, sees a shadow moving outside the window - puts Bond and Lena on the run through Stockholm, sans the Aston Martin. A suspense driven foot chase - they come to a rest in the open air museum/zoo, believing themselves safe temporarily and Bond explains what is going on. Assailants drop from the sky - massive balloons, ostensibly for the Risico press conference, carrying them into the vicinity. Bond and Lena are on the run again - crashing through the zoo/museum into the harbour and the yacht race ... and onto the mast of a fast, racing, raging upon a tall catarmaran sailing yacht (a la the type used by Thomas Crown in remake) called the King Gustav!

They are caught in the regatta, the race, lunging and twisting in the choppy waters. Sliding down the rigging and onto the deck, they get a purchase. Only to find themselves being shot at by RM, dropping on the boat in the same manner. Human hail. 3 on board, and MACE, the subhenchman in shark balloon now moored to the mast. An awkard fist fight takes place amongst crashing waves and violent collisions with other boats. A water equivalent of the rally chase in OHMSS, shot with the power and authority of the elements, swooping in and around the boat and the regatta. Machine gun fire chugs chunks of the boat apart. Bond hangs one RM on rigging, impales another on protuding catarman. Boat lifts out of water. Basically, slaloming between other boats in Regatta and subjected to violent machine gun fire, slam bangs, coloured smoke bombs, Bond, Errol Flynn-like, swinging between catarmaran hulls on rigging, tearing through sails, overcomes all but MACE in tethered balloon on mast who slides down on rope only to be tazered by Bond.

Bond fails to save Lene's life, but he has taken the chip.

We dissolve through to MI6 again - or, at least, a facsimile of it in the bowls of an air carrier, the Ark Royal (tip of the hat to the faux MI6 in the Moore movies) where M, Moneypenny, Tanner and Q'ute brief and reequip Bond. Q'ute reveals the chip has been decoded, that they believe they know where Risico will strike next -

Smash cut to the Risico Building in Stockholm where we have Risico debuting villainously as he tortures Lena - forcing her to recreate the chip, which he uses to hack into the intelligence databases, learn who his brothers killer is. He orders a sexy blonde Swedish PA to prepare his personal jet, and looks off screen into the shadows, orders someone to 'deal with Ms Martin' - we see Lena being plunged into a tank of piranhas/sharks/something, and cut through to -

Major Stunt 2:

we go from Stockholm to the intervening scenes and then to Vancouver and the GM Stadium where Bond sits down next to Simone, introduces himself, she leaves, has business to attend to but will meet up with him later once she's validated he is who he says he is.

He then runs on ice (incongrous Brioni-clad Bond amidst the throng), and using hockey sticks and helmets and other pieces of kit as weapons, fights his way through the myriad of goons. Knocks one goon out with puck as knuckleduster ("Get the puck out of here!")*. Weaves through the act, the ropes, the trampolines. Bounces bad guys on the trampolines, puts one in a gyroscope thing ("Shaken AND stirred!"). Absolutely no stream of machine gun bullet hits.

Bond then trampolines up to one of the Cirque du Soleil drapes and climbs to the top of the stadium. Jet packer is overcome by MACE who jet packs halfway up stadium. Bond leaps off drape and jumps on MACE and they fight, in mid air at jigging and thrusting through and around the dangling, coloured drapes. Bond eventually wraps one of the drapes around neck of MACE, leaps off MACE and on to the same drape wrapped around MACE, kicking the thrust button as he does so. Drape shoots up, with Bond on it to top of Stadium. Bond grabs ceiling hatch while MACE is strangled by tightening rope ("Looks like he didn't give a puck!")*. Clutching and clawing, Bond eventually gets on to the high, service walkway and opens the hatch.

Bond exits BC Stadium at the top, revealing stunning views of Vancouver and a hugh, flapping Maple Leaf Canadian flag (captured by circling helicopter shot), and our man on top of the stadium, perfectly suited, flicking lint of his lapel and straightening hair and tie. A hero moment.

BTW, all of this to the "007" theme (the John Barry counter theme) redone by David Arnold and The Propellerheads.

Where Bond meets Simone, they dine, flirt and share romance while he outlines what is happening to her - thugs burst in, gun down some diners and grab Simone, Bond tries to save her, the thugs make a getaway and Bond is forced to pursue - the thugs are in a sky car down to the ground and Bond is up at the resort, uses a grapple gun (attachment for his gun) and uses it on the sky car wires to make a makeshift flying fox before jumping into the vanquish/zagato at the bottom and pursuing the truck carrying the thugs and simone through vancouver, along the highway, over the lionsgate bridge, through the city and back onto the second highway before ending up at the airport where a cargo plane is prepping for takeoff. The van drives onto the cargo plane, the doors go up, the plane begins to taxi - and the vanquish pursues the plane down the runway before skidding to a halt at the end when the plane is out of reach. Bond is deflated, 'the one that got away -' yet determined to reach Simone and rescue her.

19 Finale Stunt: (in Australian Outback)

RISICO: You see Mr Bond, the most recent desert skirmish has somewhat sullied the reputation for accuracy for people in your profession.
BOND: My profession is to kill
RISICO: Yes, the truth. We share the same target and my detractors will be collateral damage.
BOND: But with this disinformation, you will turn the planet upside down. Economic and political stability will cease. You will ruin every democratic institution in the world.
RISICO: I'm sure if you ask the good people they will say that has already been done - by those who seek to preserve their corruption.

Once he kidnaps Miss Latrelle he intends to take her to the Nemerov/Risico Corporations headquartes in Sydney, Australia. Where he will hold her hostage, demanding that the Americans withdraw all agents from Russia. He does not intend to let her go however and wants to brutally murder her (perhaps seeing Jaws cut her to pieces while she is still alive) anyway this attempt at murder is interupted by the arrival of James Bond. Jaws is instructed to distract Bond while Giorgi escapes with Latrelle.

After defeating Jaws, Bond chases Giorgi to the top of the building, where there is a make shift Runnway and two planes. One is a Private Jet, which Giorgi escapes in and the other is a de-weaponed Harrier. The Private Jet takes off and Bond takes the Harrier and pursues. In a desperate attempt to escape Giorgi jumps from the plane with Latrelle tied to him. Bond catches up and strangles Giorgi.

At the private airstrip, Bond escapes from the clutches of, and deals with, Jaws before stealing a de-weaponed Harrier. Simone is being held hostage by Giorgi on his Boeing 7E7 which took off minutes before - and Bond quickly catches up. Giorgi jumps out of the 7E7 with one parachute - and Simone tied to him. Bond flips the Harrier upside down - and ejects to catch them both up. The Harrier collides with the 7E7 - as Bond starts to fight Giorgi in mid air, the parachute cords tangle and Simone falls, but Bond manages to kill Giorgi by strangling him with the parachute cords. Bond then cuts his cords, chases Simone, catches her and deploys the reserve chute - they land safely as a large explosion of the crashed 7E7 in the background.

They land on a cruise ship - the explosion in the background and the usual 007 closing quip.

And now we find ourselves with Solange and John Barlow to cast, shall we go with Clive Owen as Barlow and someone exotic, African/Jamaican, like Tyra Banks, Thandie Newton or Naomie Harris to play Solange ?

View Post

Wouldn't it be a hoot if Thandie Newton was now announced as Solange? Even the fact that they're using a character called Solange is pretty amazing.

Yeah, I thought that. But aren't they calling the character, "Solonge"?

Newton has been in Bond casting eyes since TWINE. She was apparently going to be Christmas but the studio wanted at least one American name.

Let's see the truth of it.

See, I told you they read these forums. All those free, great ideas they get from these threads.

What would happen if we took the most ardent posters from this and other sites and they came up with a Bond story for free which the suits at Sony would impose on Eon? Can you imagine the camel that would be created?

I've just had a thought! Could the people behind the 1967 film had access to some kind of internet?

My ultimate Bond 22 would be a breezy, bold THUNDERBALL-style affair (more low-scale than THUNDERBALL, but stylistically similar). Lots of glamour, lots of style, a big brassy score (not from David Arnold, however - perhaps Michael Giacchino?), and Craig doing his thing.

It would nice to see the screenplay take story cues from Fleming's LIVE AND LET DIE and put them to use in a greater story framework. I'd love to see Paul Haggis come back to do work on the screenplay.

I'd also like to see a more interesting director than Campbell for BOND 22 - somebody a little more int he auteur direction, or at least more capable than Campbell. There are plenty of people out there, and I'm sure EON can find somebody.

I believe that the name is misspelled either via a typo or the person hearing it thought it sounded like an "o" sound rather than an "a" sound. I may be wrong--I, for one, don't know how it's pronounced--but there you go. The name is an uncommon one and is too close to an actual Ian Fleming name to be a coincidence. But that is my feeling on the matter.

And my ultimate Bond 22 would be the filming of a continuation novel from either Amis, Gardner, or Benson. My choice would be Colonel Sun with Ken Watanabe as Sun Liang-tan, Rebecca Romijn as Ariadne Alexandrou, and Arnold Vosloo as De Graaf.
