Doubtful Zencat,.....he mentioned in Arlington that he had not read any of the other continuation novels.

I'm guessing you are correct.

Yet, what's to stop the authors from reading the reviews of each others books?

[mra]The question should be why would the IFP let Higgy write a similar plot to Benson

The plots would not be similar as IFP controls the plots.
The only things that would be are simple elements.
Let's call them "props" to clarify.

Just because both Benson and Higson 'uses mosquitoes in their stories' does not mean that the 'usage of mosquitoes' would be the same as well.

Maybe the new guard at IFP have not read Bensons books? From what I understand from Benson the people at IFP are for the most part a different bunch now.

Yes...but have the folks in charge at IFP read Benson's book?

In one of my email exchanges with Benson he told me that the people at IFP are a different group from when he wrote his continuation novels.

"different group"? In what sense?
It may be different representatives or editors, etc.
Yes, a different group in Higson's case as they would be handling the "what-kids-would-like department" :)
Yet, they belong to ONE company.
It would be really laughable if they are not aware of each other's actions within the company, don't you think?

He said that IFP were a "different" group of people than when he was continuation author. By which I take to mean an entire changing of the guard.

Just a quick note here, our friend Righty has been arguing that the title is two words, not one. We went with one word because that's how it appears in the official press release (which came from a PR company, not IFP).

But it turns out Righty is righty. I heard from Zoe Watkins, managing director of IFP, that the title is actually Blood Fever (two words). :)

I agree, Mr. Asterix. Not to mention Bloodfever is much eaiser to search for on Amazon, etc. as there are already books with the title, Blood Fever. This was another reason I was convinced the title was one word.

Pretty rare to get a two word (not proper names like Dr. No, Colonel Sun) Bond title. I can only think of....Casino Royale, License Renewed, Cold Fall, Blood Fever.

Casino Royale would be a proper name of a place. So for the UK there is only Licence Renewed and Blood Fever.

It was intersting to see Rye pan the idea of using the title Casino Royale. I actually agree with him...I think EON are just asking for trouble using that title.

BloodFever and Bloodfever may sound cooler to you guys but you have to look at the context.

Blood Fever not BloodFever or Bloodfever is a medical condition. How do I know the title is reffering to the medical condition? Just trust me on this one. :)

The blood fever is a common disease that often infects soldiers. This ailment is caused by a bacteria that invades the body through any open and bleeding wound. The bacteria commonly lays dormant in garbage piles, corpses and in swamps. It gains a foothold in the body rapidly and then causes the skin to erupt in hundreds of sores which bleed constantly. This is accompanied by a high fever, stiff joints, sore muscles, a pounding heart and accelerated breathing. If left untreated, a victim can bleed to death from the sores alone. The elderly and obese sometimes succumb to heart failure. Even if the body fights the blood fever off, it often leaves scars where the sores where. Treatment usually consists of bed rest, bandaging all sores and a high intake of food. In addition, if blood root is eaten and applied directly to the wounds as a paste, recovery is much faster and scarring is greatly lessened. Once a person has contracted the blood fever, they usually will not become infected a second time. Those that do are able to shake off the effects much quicker the second time.

Nice to see it's on amazon.co.uk, but hopefully that list price will drop like it did for SilverFin. Then again...might be good to preorder again as I did with SilverFin if any printing errors pop up again. :)
