Brosnan - wish EON hadn't messed up in 1986. The 90's rocked!
Connery - wish he had done OHMSS, 7 is the perfect number for 007 films per actor IMO.
Dalton - has a butt for a chin like Lazenby but played the role wonderfully.
Moore - the perfect 007 IMO doing the right amount of films 00(7).
Craig - should have never signed until Brosnan did one more, in respect.
Lazenby - silly hibby

1. Sean Connery
2. Timothy Dalton
3. George Lazenby
4. Roger Moore
5. Daniel Craig
6. Pierce Brosnan
Roger Moore was however my favorite when I was a kiddo. 1999 was the first time I saw the films when I was 7 years old and Goldfinger was the first Bond movie I ever saw. I've always disliked Brosnan in the role, even though he was the favorite of the friend who introduced me to Bond. I do however like him as an actor in other roles. IMO, he is the only thing that actually makes Remington Steele into anything more than just watchable.

Hey all,
I'm new here as well! I have to agree with your labels for the most part here. I like all the Bond's for different reasons, but if I can nail down one I like the best it is Timothy Dalton

This poll would be a lot harder to answer if the option "The man I see in my head..." weren't available. Good job!

1 Connery
2 Craig
3 Brosnan
4 Lazenby
5 Dalton
6 Moore
Very difficult to split Lazenby, Brosnan and Dalton. Theyre all good in different ways. I like Rog, just not as Bond.

Daniel Craig by a good distance
The best actor to have played Bond (getting a Bafta nod for best actor shows he's doing things right). Has given Bond a heart and actually bought back that coolness that only early Connery ever had. Plus he's given us two of the best Bond films ever.

1. Dalton -- the literary Fleming brought to life.
2. Craig -- probably the best actor to ever hold the role.
3. Moore -- my first Bond so I'll forgive some of the silliness 'cause it's just so fun.
4. Connery -- the definitive cinematic Bond. Though YOLT and DAF are the most phoned-in performances of any Bond actor.
5. Brosnan -- carries too much feeling on his sleeve for Bond, and channels a lot of Moore and Connery. Best in TND.
6. Lazenby -- could be higher had he done more films. Actually gives a better performance than is credited for.

There's no else like Connery. He had the advantage, of course, despite Barry Nelson's performance, of being the first. First impressions are very, very strong. Going beyond that, though, he presented a terrific combination of suave, cool, sexy and yet, when needed, tough and brutal. That combination does not always come together well. For example -- much as George Clooney is SO cool, he's not demnostrated the ability to be the guy who'd win a tough, to-the-death fight. Connery had that.
Not to sound like "I like everyone they're all so great in their own way !" but, yeah, they are. Still, there's only one First, and, as it turned out, he had that terrific combination. It wasn't just him -- it was the newness of these films, their great style, it was the early 60s. Man, I still can hear the fight sounds and the music blaring in the tinny drive-in window speaker and THAT is a very, very good memory. The drive-in screens were BIG and they were the IMAX of the day !

3. Lazenby
4. Moore
5. Brosnan
A caveat: Connery is at the top for his first 4 films. YOLT and DAF probably should bring him down a notch as they really are pretty lifeless performances. That said, without those first 4 we'd never be where we are today.

I'm new around these parts. Like others before me, I thought this would be a great thread for my first post.
1. Connery. Not my personal favorite, but without him, we simply wouldn't be here, today. He created the character (Well, he and Terence Young) out of a few tiny scraps of description by Fleming, and the result was an immediate, immortal film icon.
2. Craig. My personal favorite, he's *my* Bond. Never in a million years could I have imagined that someday there would be a Bond my age, height, hair color, weight (well his is muscle, mine is ...not) and even a very, very faint resemblence in facial features. Plus, the man can act.
3. Dalton. Vastly underrated, easily the closest in resemblence to the book Bond. He never got his own TSWLM or GF. A tragedy of the highest order.
4. Moore. He was my first, plus he's probably the Bond I would most want to meet in person (next to Timothy). A bit too daft and foppish to be taken seriously, he instead brings bucketloads of charm to the role. Serious? No. But fun to watch.
5. Brosnan. Sorry, but he never did much for me. A bit lightweight. TWINE and DAD are at the bottom of my rankings. Loved him in The Matador though.
6. Lazenby. It's very hard to put someone at the bottom of any list, but (sigh) George has to be it. He inherited the most coveted role in all of popular cinema and then chucked it away. Or so the story goes. OHMSS is a great story, but it was a terrible choice to spring on a young, untested actor. They really should haved saved that one for Dalton.

When grading the Bond actors, its hard to distinguish whether I'm grading the films they were in or the actor. Even Sean Connery would'nt have made DAD work. But I agree with your assessment of Connery. Plus I think he was a just a flat good actor. Can't imagine if Dalton had instead been the first to mold the character.....or not.
