Who should the new M be?

This is from "The Bourne Identity", where he played a character somewhat like M.

By the way, I'd like to keep Patrick Stewart away from 007, given the way he has made it plain he is tired of the Star Trek franchise.

As good as Cox can look for it, he's also a brilliant actor, as well as Scottish (although he always plays Americans). He has a very thick accent in real life, so it'll give him a chance to just act natural for once.

PS. Anyone seen Titus [Andronicus] with Hopkins and Alan Cumming as Titus and Saturninus, respectively?

Yep. Chap who plays Aaron is fantastic. Everyone else a bit odd.
What the Hell - give M to Colin Salmon

I'm more interested in who the character of the next M will be. Bringing back Admiral Roebuck seems like it work well. It'd be similar to the return of Admiral Hargreaves as M (if one considers Brown to be him and not Sir Miles) and would solve the problem of having to introduce a new character.

But my vote goes to Brian Cox, Geoffry Palmer, or Michael Gambon!

Miles Messervy was a man. She makes references to "Your Predecessor" so that you know it's not the same character. Fine, change her name. I wouldn't replace M anyway, but don't call her "M".
I think she's great. But great as "chief" or "Miss Whatever" or "Control" (Le Carre) or anything but "M".
(Sorry, I didn't have a computer in 1995.)

THE MORE I THINK ABOUT THAT IDEA, THE MORE I LIKE PATRICK STEWART AS M. HE COULD REALLY DO A WONDERFUL JOBOriginally posted by kevrichardson
"M" , is a very important part of the series. Casting Lazenby would be a great mistake . How about Patrick Stewart , his starship days are now behind him. He got the screen presence and the natural authority the role requires. that would free-up Jeremey Irons to play a Bond villian
