All they need now is a script and a few actors, and Bond 25 is pretty much ready for release.

Perhaps the helicopter is not for the film itself, but for some sort of press conference? (Remember when they introduced Craig as the new Bond in October 2005?)

 

With filming on Kings having recently wrapped (and shooting on Purity having not yet begun), Craig is now available to do some sort of press event / announcement of the next Bond film...

Why order a helicopter from a museum?

 

Is the next Bond film going back in time, rebooting it into the time of the Cold War?

 

Could be a clever way to comment on our times without having to deal with the actual political climate right now.

Yes, me too.  But given the absolute dearth of information we have on Bond 25, I thought it worth posting.

My question is: whatever is happening, did Naomie Harris know about it?

I'm intrgued as to what's going on simply because it seems a REALLY strange thing to make up - Could it be for the unveiling Horrowitz second Bond book and the guy at meuseum was mistaken? But even THAT seems unlikly as i thought that book was due in 18.

No, the pilot and museum owner talked to our German Club President and confirmed that it was for Bond 25. He also said that the helicopter would not return to his museum and assumed that it might get blown up (not to far fetched). Don't know why the chose this helicopter from this museum (maybe it was simply available for cheap), but the guy has worked on movies before and may have gained some reputation. For example, he also rebuilt the U2 cockpit for "Bridge of Spies".

 

Helicopter is due to arrive in Heathrow today (maybe it's already there), and two local TV stations announced that they'll send camera teams (to Wernigerode, I guess), so there should be some more coverage and pieces of information tonight.

Wow, thanks Mr. Stromberg - I certainly hope that BOND 25 has already been gathering steam in secret and that news will be forthcoming.

 

And again - why did they want that helicopter?  Why not use any other cheaper thing?  Or build some model themselves?  Who will notice what it is aside from some helicopter experts?

SPECTRE's plot was leaked, so it wouldn't be surprising if they're on total radio silence for Bond 25, secretly working behind the scenes. It's certainly intriguing. I'm wondering why they need the helicopter right now.

Bond is one of the few franchises that could get away with complete radio silence until much MUCH closer to the release date - Craig was talking about this not that long ago (possibly that career retrospective interview he gave in October), normally you have to bend over backwards trying to get attention for your work, but with Bond people CONSTANTLY ask him when the next one is coming out and who's doing the song.

​I should add I doubt they'd actually do that - though EON tend to officially announce things FAR later into the production than other franchises do.

It won´t be true - but wouldn´t it be amazing if BOND 25 was already shooting and this helicopter was part of one sequence they are doing now?  If the distribution rights issue had already been resolved and the only reason nothing had been reported because they really wanted to spring a huge surprise on us?

The only question that matters. To her credit Naomi has been a fantastic ambassador for the series, even if she has occasionally fibbed to try to keep some secrecy about things. What an odd development this is. Good work staying on top of it all Stromberg!

Well now this is indeed some interesting news if it is true. Perhaps EON have got things moved along much farther than any of us thought and I do believe that given the unfortunate script leaks with Sony on SPECTRE, they are doing their best to maintain full radio silence as possible. Timeline wise it's not totally out of the question.. announce director in the next couple of months and then have the major press conference in Nov/Dec with filming to commence in January of 2018..I do believe Daniel Craig will be back.

Apparently the helicopter can't fly on its own power. Perhaps it could be used for green screen work? Or they simply blow it up? Or both? If it's unable to fly, that rules out a grand reveal of a new Bond actor. It must be for filming of some sort. Which baffles everyone right now.
