ok - i pressed the wrong button -
1. DAD: I have to put this at number one because I can't stop watching it. (However, I had the same problem when TWINE came out.) I loved the first half of DAD. The highlights for me were the pre-title and title sequences and the sword fight. In the second half, I enjoyed the Miranda/Bond scenes, particularly the confrontation in the ice palace when Bond discovers who betrayed him. I loved the character development in this film: the vulnerability, the courage, the anger .... 2. TWINE: I agree with many of the other comments posted - Reynard didn't make a great villain, nor Christmas a great Bond girl (!) but Electra was excellent and I loved the return of Zhukovsky. Best line: 'I never miss' - seemed to reflect the mean yet vulnerable Bond
3. Goldeneye; I thought Sean Bean made a really good foil for Bond ('You know James, I always was better' - or something like that). I also liked Boris and Natalya when I first saw the film but got bored with their scenes after multiple viwings. Xenia was great.
4. TND: Carver was boring and spoiled the film for me, sending it down to number 4 . However, I think it contains the best Brosnan Bond scene; 'I wondered who they'd send' He looks fantastic at this point, recovering from his beating and escape - shaken, but not stirred. All the Mrs Carver/Bond scenes were excellent.

Because I've seen the last 3 Bonds so many times, and my rankings tend to fluctuate, I decided to rank according to how I felt after my first viewing of each movie.
1. Goldeneye--first movie to really get me "into" Bond. Female leads are exotic, attractive, and effective (particularly Xenia), striking cinematography and locations, Sean Bean has solid screen presence as the villain. Highlights include the bunjee jump and intro of Brosnan as Bond, the kinky fight scenes between Bond and Xenia, Alex's revelation scene (it's talky, but contains a sense of genuine suspense and gloom), and the final fight scene between Alex and Bond. Brosnan's nervousness in the role may show occasionally, but that only makes it more interesting to me. If not for Eric Serra's score (which inexcusably undermines the casino scene), I'd consider this classically good Bond.
2. The World is Not Enough--yes, the introduction of Denise Richards is cringe-inducing, and in the final 20 minutes the movie starts to unravel, but the characterization and dialog in earlier parts of the movie make up for this. I appreciate the old fashioned, cloak-and-dagger style. Elektra is a great Bond villainess, Sophie Marceau has nice chemistry with Brosnan, and Bond seems more consistently human and vulnerable in this movie than most others. Bad news if you like Bond-as-superhero, of course. The pre-credits balcony-jumping scene is my favorite of any of the Bond movies.
3. The first 75 minutes of DAD (I'm sorry, it's the only way I could rank this movie)--several scenes have a classic Bondish atmosphere and style, with darkness and edge. Brosnan's performance here is generally more laid-back than in TWINE (which can be both a good and a bad thing; see: "Brosnan's morphing accent" post in the forums).
4. Tomorrow Never Dies--starts off slowly, improves somewhat, then slides downhill again. Interesting premise is not explored; action overload overwhelms characterization. Terri Hatcher is my least favorite Bond girl, Jonathan Pryce doesn't have much physical presence as the villain, but some good individual scenes (the parking garage chase and confrontation with Dr. Kaufman, in particular). Brosnan seems to be walking through the role at times here, but still occasionally captures the edginess of Bond. Wai Lin makes a fun, plucky Bond girl.
5. The last half of DAD--Halle Berry's character is wasted, Bond's character is wasted, my time is wasted. Well, at least Moneypenny had some fun.

1. Goldeneye (favorite of any Bond film)
2. TND/DAD (they both started great but finished weak)
3. TWINE (mediocre at best)

TND - Honest tat
GE - Greatest hits tat
DAD - Schizophrenic tat
TWINE - Fundamentally inadequate tat

Don't really want to think about any of them, to be frank.

1. Tomorrow Never Dies
2. The World is not Enough
3. Goldeneye
99. Dire another Day

DAD is an appalling film, which paradoxically references previous Bonds but serves only to highlight its woeful inadequacy in comparison.

TND and TWINE both had vaguely plausiable plots, and the "R Murdoch" figure was a great one. The chinese girl was good in it too, whilst we just lurve Christmas Jones (for her looks if not her acting)

Goldeneye was pretty rubbish (Sean Bean as bond villain? they're having a laugh) - but streets ahead of DAD which just looks like any other forgettable Hollywood action flick.

1. Goldeneye. I enjoyed this movie when I first saw it in 1995. It felt a little different but it was still the same character (for the most part) that I had grown up with in the 1970s and 1980s. I really liked the tank chase through St. Petersburg and I think Xenia was one of the best Femme Fatale's of the series, right up there but not quite as good as Barbara Carrera's Fatima Blush in NSNA. I thought Sean Bean was a nice foil for Brosnan's Bond and I liked the return to a big super (hollowed out volcano) villains lair.

2. Die Another Day. Great pretitles sequence and fight scene between Bond and Graves. Worth seeing to see Brosnan get tortured and then walk, hairy and scraggly through an elegant Hong Kong hotel. Halle Berry outshone Pierce at times and added some much needed sparkle, probably ranking as my favorite (and prettiest) Bond girl of the Brosnan series, there was also an "interesting" title track by Madonna that gave the film a nice punch. However on the flip side IMHO it featured a lackluster ending and one of the worst, most unattractive Bond girls of the series in Rosamund Pike.

3. Tomorrow Never Dies. When I first saw this I thought to myself - "Well there's the worst of the series" but unfortunately it turned out not to be (which is why it's ranked 3rd out of 4). It's painful thinking about this movie, I did like Michelle Yeoh who I thought portrayed an interesting Bond girl and there was that cool scene in the Hamburg hotel room. Stamper tried hard to resurrect the Oddjob, Jaws and Gobinda henchman of yesteryear but his efforts where only partly successful. I loved the line - "There should just be enough time to watch it stop beating." The movie also introduced Robinson and the actor who is my personal favorite to take on the 007 mantle when Brosnan retires - Colin Salmon (who incidently is also Brosnan's choice).

4. The World is Not Enough. Nice boat chase and interesting scenes at Mi6's Scottish headquarters but easily the worst movie of the entire series nowhere near as good as the unofficial entry Never Say Never Again.

1 - GoldenEye
It was a great 're-introduction' to James Bond after a long gap in the movies. Brosnan gives a good performance in his first Bond film. Plus Xenia.... wow!

2 - The World Is Not Enough
Great pre-title sequence. The introduction of John Cleese as the soon-to-be head of Q branch. Denise Richards is a babe (although the acting part might have been nice). And some good action sequences. I think Bond looks super cool wearing the sunglasses in the casino.

BIG GAP

3 - Die Another Day
Oh dear, they picked Halle Berry to be a Bond girl. And are we expected to buy Gustav Graves as a villan? I share many others opinions, in that the first part of the film was good, and that the second half dropped the ball completely. Still, it was amusing to see Bond with some long hippie hair and a huge beard.

HUGE, HUGE, HUGE GAP

4 - Tomorrow Never Dies
Utter garbage. My least favorite Bond film. A terrible travesty of a movie. It's mere existance is a disgrace to the Bond movie legacy.

So as you can see, I'm 50/50 on Brosnan as Bond. I really hope the next Bond film is a great film, so that I can wipe TND from my memory.

1. GoldenEye the score was horrific, but nevertheless, it's got everything- and a classic Q Branch scene!

2. Die Another Day I just don't know where to put that. Too good for #3, but definitely not #1

3. The World Is Not Enough A Bond-love-story mixed with senseless action- ugh!

4. Tomorrow Never Dies To talk about senseless action... a Die Hard-Bond- double-ugh!
